I know this has been discussed in the past and has caused a bit of contention but I think it's time we all aired our issues with RC's rarity guide.Yet again I've come across a facebook user who has, perhaps out of their own naivety, taken the RC guide as statement of fact and is modifying their purchasing habits accordingly. All they were interested in were the Rare to Extremely Rare games, which is fine, people can buy what they want to, but the guides here are having a clear influence on less knowledgeable gamers/collectors and they're quite frankly, atleast in my belief, wrong.There's currently more copies of the rare Conker's Bad Fur Day listed on eBay than the Very Common Fifa 99 and this is just a single example of what I'd consider potentially hundreds of mislabled rare gamesI think that RC is a highly valuable resource for collectors, the forums are an absolute goldmine and some of the users here have encyclopaedic knowledge. Which is why I think we should have an open discussion to correct the guide and maintain RC's reputation for info.

So, recently I have been buying some homebrew games on etsy and ebay... I've also purchased a few repro carts due to the fact that the original copies are being sold for several hundred dollars and I have no other way to afford to play them.One of the sellers on etsy got into a conversation with me when I had asked him a question about his games and the creation process, and he went into all of these crazy details about how I should avoid most repro games (regardless of quality) because according to him every other seller on the planet (except him) makes low quality repros with cheap chips and boards, and that all of the chips are photosensitive to light and lose their data within a year or two.. he went into all sorts of technical terms about "bit rot" and he assured me though that his games were made with top quality chips and boards and that they were as good as the originals... he mentioned something about temporary and permanent chips?Anyway, the information he gave me seemed to make sense in a scary sort of way.. Is this true? does the data on a homebrew or reproduction cart simply vanish after a short amount of time?Is this guy being truthful and honest or is he just trying to scare me into buying his games and nobody elses?Also, I've heard that the max life of a disc based game is around 50 years and then the data breaks down and can disappear?

Everyone of you collectors out there who also fancy themselves a retrogamer, will have a limited number of consoles. I personally do not buy systems I don't intend to collect for or have at least 5 games for which I really wanna play. I try to limit myself to collect games just for systems I'm interested in.For example; I am not interested at all in the N64. I won't say it's not a great system; it's just not for me. I was never too much into Nintendo's 3D-stuff and a lot of other titles were multiplatform. I'm not gonna buy a N64 just for two games I like. But I'd really like to play Conker's (I know, it's overhyped, but still !) and Yoshi's Story. The odd, original and non-cencored Conker's seems like a game right up my alley. I'd also really like to experience Nintendo's take on a 2D-platformer.But, for the forseeable future, I won't play these games. I will not pick them up, unless I'd stumble upon them for cheap. Same goes with the N64 itself.Which games would you really like to try/play/collect which aren't available for a system you currently own but aren't getting to?

As an attempt to keep the discussion at RetroCollect on topic and interesting, the management team have decided to create a new thread to house any discussions to with eBay. I already know what my CES is going to look like. Beyond spending a lot of time in a trailer with lots of awesome dudes, I'm going to be chasing down a lot of ultrabooks (much like how I chased down every netbook back at CES 2009). I'm expecting to see new ones from a few of the big PC makers (Dell, Acer, Lenovo, etc.)
So, as many of you know, I love my Switch. First and foremost, it's portability makes for a great gaming experience.That said, I'm not blind to some of its flaws. From it's screen resolution, to it horsepower, to it's mostly plastic build; there are many areas where Nintendo could improve the Switch.With that said, how soon before we see Nintendo roll out an updated Switch? And what changes do you expect or hope to see?

Just reached the end of the transfer window of season 2 and there is absolutely zero major transfers anywhere across Europe. Major transfers are the ones which were already fixed like Keith to Liverpool and Vinicius to Real Madrid etc. I checked the budgets of a few teams and they have a lot of money, arsenal had more than 50 million. But no one is spending it. Surely this is some sort of a bug? Anyone else seen this happening?

Whether you want to replace a cover, have a cover in mind for a specific character, or would just have some favorite art you'd like to see in any capacity, what would you add, if you could?I've thought of One or Two for 4 Thor that have come out since she was introduced that I think are more fun representations of the character (and as noted in one of the above threads, it's a series I've been reading recently).And I like This cover for Unworthy Thor. I'm not sure it's a good time to add him to the game (we're slowly passing Unworthy Thor's relevance in the comics, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to code a new 4* that CAN'T be used alongside 2/3/5* Thor, but COULD be used alongside the 4* version), or if this would be a good cover for Beta Ray Bill instead, but I like it anyways, you know?

Theoretically, without the sharingan putting a constant drain on his body, he could have considerably more stamina and deeper chakra reserves... and the character already had crazy amounts of stamina and chakra by the end of the series during the world war.
