LAS VEGAS Cheap Nike Air Max 2019 Canada , the United States, May 10 (Xinhua) -- For Roberto Medina, founder of Brazilian music festival commonly known as " Rock in Rio," the past weekend was a time when his dream became true.


Rock in Rio USA made its official U.S. debut on Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world, with attendance of 82,000 people, said the organizer Sunday. "It has always been our dream to bring Rock in Rio to the U.S. and it is truly amazing to see this dream become a reality," said Medina. "We've felt so welcomed during the process of creating the Las Vegas edition of the festival and are grateful to have celebrated the debut with such a great crowd. We look forward to doing it all over again next weekend."


Rock in Rio, which was launched in 1985 by businessman Roberto Medina, has been taken to Spain and Portugal since then and has been attended by more than 7.4 million people, with performances done by 1,270 artists including Queen, ACDC, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake.


To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the music festival, organizers have set their eyes on an American city and spent 75 million U.S. dollars and built three major stages and three themed streets, which have fully transformed the City of Rock in Las Vegas, the state of Nevada.


Rock fans to the festival were thrilled with famous U.S. band No Doubt playing hits like "It's My Life," "Hey Baby," on the first day of the festival and the iconic rock band Metallica, Linkin Park performing on the second day.


At the City of Rock in Las Vegas, which was created four years ago and is now expanded to cover an area of about 16 hectares, three streets are lined up with 20 shops and restaurants, each connected to a stage where bands and artists will perform throughout the day. People could also taste diverse cuisines while enjoying excited music.


"It's so fun, I love to dance with them," said a 27-year-old Texas girl who only identified herself as Jessica.


In accordance with the Brazilian music festival's tradition, organizers of Rock in Rio USA have also chosen 16 lucky couples who will get married at the four-day festival.


MONROVIA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Visiting United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon pledges continued support to Liberia during its fight against the Ebola outbreak and in it post-Ebola recovery program.


"The UN has been with Liberia in challenging times. Now as you face the deadly Ebola outbreak, we will be with you until the outbreak is contained and help the country recover," Ban Ki-moon said in Monrovia, the Liberian capital on Friday.


He made the pledge at a joint press conference with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Monrovia at the end of a one-day visit to Liberia.


The UN Secretary General who arrived on Friday morning said the world community is cautiously optimistic that the Ebola outbreak can be contained as a result of the gains has been made .


But Ban Ki-moon warned that the virus is still in Liberia, and hence that response strategies should be increased, urging community residents to make efforts to protect themselves, adding, "Now is the time to increase our efforts because one case can trigger an epidemic."


The UN Secretary General stressed the need for Liberians to begin planning their post Ebola economic recovery and pledged UN's support in this process.


"Even as we try to stop new transmissions, it is important to start working for economic recovery. We must stir up efforts to re- establish basic social services, support economic activities and build the country's resilience," he said.


"We are ready to help the Liberian people and government builds their society to make it more resilient," Ban Ki-moon said.


He appealed to the international community and friendly countries to work together to help preserve Liberia's hard won peace.


Earlier, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf welcomed the UN envoy and delegation to Liberia.


She recognized the global leadership the UN Secretary General has provided over the years, including the response to the deadly Ebola outbreak.


The Liberian leader also expressed appreciation to the World Health Organization Director General Margaret Chan who was part of the UN Secretary General's delegation, for her role in the fight against Ebola.


She said WHO's response has enabled Liberia to be where it is now in the fight against Ebola.


Ban Ki-moon arrived in Monrovia Friday morning as part of a tour across Ebola hard hit countries to assess ongoing responses by respective governments and partners.


Prior to his departure for the 4-nation tour Ban Ki-moon told reporters in New York "I want to see the response for myself, and show my solidarity with those affected and urge even greater global action."
