Presenting his credentials to Kagame, Ambassador Rao Hongwei conveyed to President Kagame the cordial greetings and good wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He spoke highly of Rwanda's great accomplishments achieved in national building and reconciliation.


"There is a deep traditional friendship between China and Rwanda and a strong bond between our two peoples. In recent years, through mutual understanding and sincere cooperation, the two sides enjoy stronger political trust, rapid growth in economic and trade cooperation, and closer people-to-people ties." Rao said.


"Last month, the two heads of state had a successful meeting in Beijing. Both sides agreed to enhance the level of strategic cooperation between the two countries," said the new envoy.


For his part, President Kagame welcomed Ambassador Rao on his assumption of new office.


He asked ambassador Rao to convey his cordial greetings and good wishes to President Xi Jinping and stressed the Rwandan government and himself will render full support and assistance to Ambassador Rao.


Kagame said that Rwanda and China enjoy a long-time friendship. Rwandan government and people appreciate the valuable support from China.


"Last month, I paid a successful and fruitful visit to China. President Xi Jinping and I reached significant consensus on enhancing our cooperation in various fields. By working together with the Chinese side, Rwanda is willing to bring the bilateral relations to a new high." he said.

DHAKA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Law enforcers in Bangladesh's Kushtiadistrict, some 135 km west of capital Dhaka, have arrested threefemale militants along with suicide vests from a suspected militantden in a raid.


SM Mehedi Hasan, the district's police chief, told journaliststhat Tithi, spouse of Neo-JMB Ameer (president) Ayub Ali andSumaiya, wife of second-in-command of Neo-JMB, were among the threemilitants who were arrested.


He said a joint team of police, Rapid Action Battalion andDetective Branch of police cordoned off a house in the districtearly Saturday.


As the joint team moved toward the house in the evening, afemale militant, wearing a suicide vest, tried to attack the lawenforcers, he said.


Law enforcers finally managed to detain the female before thevest went off, he added.


The raid came at a time when Bangladesh commemorates thecountry's most horrific terror attack in which dozens of peoplewere killed, mostly foreigners on July 1, 2016. Enditem

Premier Li Keqiang said it was a "difficult moment" for all, shortly after the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was officially declared an accident, urging Malaysia to locate the bodies as well as the wreckage "by all possible means" and fulfill its commitment to compensating the families and deliver an investigation report.


"This is a difficult moment for the unfortunate families and for all of us. The Chinese government shares the deepest sorrow and our deep sympathy go to the next-of-kin," Li said.


"The Chinese government, other governments involved in the tragedy and international organizations have made their best efforts over the past year to search for the flight and comfort families," he said.


Li made the statement at a press conference with visiting French Prime Minister Manuel Valls in Beijing, after the pair held talks.


According to Malaysia's Department of Civil Aviation, the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was officially declared an accident under international aviation rules.


All 239 passengers and crew aboard are presumed to have lost their lives, Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, Director-General of the DCA said.


The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing went missing on March 8 last year.


Official announcement


Malaysia's Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) officially declared on Thursday that the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was an accident.


"We officially declare Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 an accident ... and that all 239 of the passengers and crew onboard MH370 are presumed to have lost their lives," DCA director-general Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said in a statement.


The announcement is in accordance with standards of annexes 12 and 13 in the International Civil Aviation, said Azharuddin. It will allow families of the passengers to obtain assistance through compensation, he said.


Malaysia Airlines was ready to proceed immediately with the compensation process to the next-of-kin of the passengers on the flight, he said.


The Boeing 777 aircraft left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41 am local time on March 8, 2014, and was due to land in Beijing at 6:30 am on the same day.
