CHICAGO (AP) — The crowd of 39 Roger Clemens Jersey ,275 roared when Jason Heyward caught Francisco Pena’s fly ball for the final out on a wet, cool afternoon at Wrigley Field. Now, everything gets real crazy.Anthony Rizzo had four hits and scored three times, and the Chicago Cubs set up a tiebreaker game for the NL Central title by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 10-5 on Sunday.“We know what’s at stake. Obviously we needed to win today, by all means,” Rizzo said, “and tomorrow is the same thing.”Shortly after Milwaukee completed an 11-0 victory over Detroit, Jorge De La Rosa worked a hitless ninth inning to move the Cubs back into a tie with the Brewers at 95-67. Yairo Munoz walked with two out, but Pena’s harmless fly to right closed it out.Next up, game No. 163.Chicago hosts Milwaukee on Monday afternoon and the Colorado Rockies visit the Los Angeles Dodgers as baseball holds a pair of tiebreaker games on the same day for the first time. At stake is the postseason road for each club. The winner at Wrigley gets a spot in the division series and home-field advantage throughout the NL playoffs. The loser plays again Tuesday night, hosting the runner-up in the NL West in the wild-card game.“It’s interesting that baseball is such a perfect game in some ways that it takes 162 to not decide anything,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.St. Louis (88-74) was in contention heading into the final week of the season, but it was swept by Milwaukee before dropping two of three against Chicago. Catcher Yadier Molina http://www.redsoxproshops.com/authentic-andrew-benintendi-jersey , outfielder Marcell Ozuna and infielders Kolten Wong and Jedd Gyorko were held out of the finale due to nagging injuries.St. Louis missed out on the playoffs for a third straight year for the first time since it went 75-86 in 1999. It finished with a 41-28 record under Mike Shildt, who took over as manager after Mike Matheny was fired on July 14.“Three straight years of coming up short,” said first baseman Matt Carpenter, who finished with a career-high 36 homers. “We as an organization, as a total group, top to bottom, everybody in this clubhouse, all the staff, we have to find a way to get better, to compete if we want to play in October.”The only other time Chicago began the final day of the regular season tied for the lead in its division or league was in 1908, when it beat Christy Mathewson and the New York Giants 4-2 at the Polo Grounds for the NL pennant. The Cubs then won their second straight World Series title before enduring a championship drought that cruised past a century before they won it all again in 2016.Rizzo and company are looking for another October run, but they have been plagued by an inconsistent offense. It looked like more of the same when Jack Flaherty (8-9) cruised into the third inning with a 2-0 lead and then retired the first two batters. Then everything changed. The next six batters reached for Chicago, producing four runs. Rizzo hit a tiebreaking double to give him 100 RBIs on the year Luis Tiant Jersey , waving his arms in the air as he coasted into second. Jason Heyward added an RBI single.“Just the overall approach today, two outs, a lot of two-out rallies … just kept things going and kept the line moving,” Rizzo said, “and we usually have good success when we do that.”The Cubs broke it open with four more in the fifth. Kris Bryant roped a two-run double into the left-field corner. Two batters later, Willson Contreras hit a drive to left for his first homer since Aug. 1.“We just couldn’t stop them,” Shildt said.Allen Webster (1-0), the first of eight Chicago relievers after Mike Montgomery was pulled in the third, got two outs for the win.Jose Martinez, Paul DeJong and Patrick Wisdom each had two hits for St. Louis, which left 12 runners on base. Munoz finished with three RBIs.CENTURY CLUBRizzo became the first lefty batter in franchise history with four seasons with at least 100 RBIs.TRAINER’S ROOMCardinals: Wisdom was visited by a trainer and Shildt after he was hit by a pitch in the third. The trainer examined Wisdom’s left wrist for a short time, but he stayed in the game. … Wong (left knee) is expected to undergo an MRI in the near future, general manager Michael Girsch said.UP NEXTJose Quintana (13-11 http://www.redsoxproshops.com/authentic-mitch-moreland-jersey , 4.09 ERA) will start the tiebreaker for Chicago. Quintana is 6-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 10 career starts against Milwaukee. The Brewers did not announce a starter. SEATTLE (AP) — A wrongful-termination lawsuit filed by the Seattle Mariners‘ former high-performance director alleges she went to team owners John Stanton and Buck Ferguson and CEO Kevin Mather as far back as March to complain about alleged discriminatory treatment. The lawsuit also says several Latino players complained to Dr. Lorena Martin about feeling excluded and that general manager Jerry Dipoto took midseason steps to deliberately undermine the progress and mental state of star pitcher Felix Hernandez.Martin’s lawsuit, filed Wednesday, counters claims by the team that Martin did not approach anybody with complaints of racial and gender discrimination before making accusatory Instagram posts last month that led to her termination. The Seattle Times reports that the lawsuit states Mather, after hearing Martin’s complaints about Dipoto, vowed to address the matter and put a stop to what Mather viewed as bullying. And the lawsuit says Dipoto blamed Latino players for ruining the team’s clubhouse culture and a second-half collapse that left the Mariners out of the playoffs for the 17th consecutive season. The Mariners have denied Martin’s allegations and Major League Baseball is investigating. The Mariners, in responding to Martin’s social-media posts, had termed her accusations “outrageous” and “false” and said she hadn’t made any of the allegations “until after she was relieved of her duties” in October. The lawsuit says that in July, Dipoto and manager Scott Servais “took affirmative measures to undermine and harm” star pitcher Hernandez by “messing with” his mental state. The Mariners throughout that month had let it be known they were contemplating pulling Hernandez from the rotation and putting him in the bullpen — which they finally did in early August.Martin says Hernandez had asked the Mariners to allow her to accompany the team on a late June trip to New York, Boston and Baltimore to train him, and that Dipoto refused. The pitcher subsequently injured his back. The lawsuit seeks to force the team to implement policies that provide equal opportunities to all employees. She also wants compensation for past and future financial losses, as well as full severance benefits for a three-year contract that was to have run through October 2020.

James finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds.WASHINGTON (AP) – Bradley Beal heeded his coach’s plea to ”do his job” by scoring 21 of his 28 points in the first half, his All-Star backcourt running mate John Wall delivered 28 points and 14 assists, and Washington beat Toronto 112-103 to cut its Eastern Conference first-round playoff series deficit to 2-1.After letting the Raptors grab the first 2-0 series lead in franchise history, the Wizards came home and checked off every box coach Scott Brooks presented. They got Beal more involved after he made only three shots in Game 2; they actually led after the first quarter, 30-29; they played with enough defensive focus to get produce 19 turnovers by Toronto, leading to 28 points for Washington.Add it all up, and it was a rare recent victory for Washington, which had lost seven of eight games dating to the regular season.MILWAUKEE (AP) – Khris Middleton scored 23 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 19 and Milwaukee used a dominating first half to overwhelm Boston 116-92, narrowing its deficit in the series to 2-1.Eric Bledsoe and Jabari Parker each added 17 for the energized Bucks, who held the Celtics without a field goal for nearly an 11-minute stretch of the first half.Backup center Thon Maker scored 14 points and blocked five shots. Pesky guard Matthew Dellavedova, a veteran of a championship run with the Cleveland Cavaliers Cody Eakin Jersey , helped hold young Celtics point guard Terry Rozier to nine points on 2-of-7 shooting.NHLPITTSBURGH (AP) – Sean Couturier’s long shot from the point got past Matt Murray with 1:17 left and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 to force a sixth game in the first-round series. The Flyers cut the Penguins’ series lead to 3-2 going into Game 6 on Sunday in Philadelphia. After missing Game 4 with a lower-body injury, Couturier extended his team’s season at least two more days by picking up his second goal of the series. The Thrashers started in 1999-2000, with their only playoff series ending in four straight losses to the New York Rangers in 2007.NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Sven Andrighetto scored with 1:28 left to lift the Colorado Avalanche past the Nashville Predators 2-1, sending the first-round series back to Denver for Game 6.This is the third time the Avalanche had trailed 3-1 in a series since the franchise relocated to Colorado. They lost the first two, but will have a chance Sunday to push this series to a seventh game after rallying with two goals in the final 4:11.Gabriel Landeskog started the rally with his goal into an empty net with Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne caught outside the crease with his own teammate Ryan Ellis in his lap. Then Andrighetto gave the Avs the lead off a rebound of a shot by J.T. Hall of Fame player Ron Francis was reassigned to another front-office position during the season.BASEBALLPHOENIX (AP) – Tyson Ross lost his bid to pitch the first no-hitter in the history of the San Diego Padres when rookie center fielder Franchy Cordero appeared to misplay a ball with two outs in the eighth inning of a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.Playing their 7,835th game since joining the majors in 1969, the Padres again came agonizingly close to their first no-no. They remain the only team in the big leagues that has never thrown a no-hitter.Ross had a 1-0 lead with two outs in the eighth when Christian Walker lined a drive to deep center. Cordero seemed to get a late break on the ball, then had it sail just over his outstretched glove for a double that made it 1-all. Ross was pulled after throwing a career-high 127 pitches. The right-hander, who turns 31 on Sunday, struck out 10 and walked three.GOLFSAN ANTONIO (AP) – Zach Johnson was going nowhere in the Valero Texas Open when it all changed with one putt.He made an 8-foot par putt on the 13th hole of the opening round to stay at 2 under. He followed with a big drive, a hybrid into 12 feet and an eagle. Johnson was on his way, and he kept right on going Friday to a 7-under 65 and a share of the 36-hole lead with Ryan Moore.Moore had three birdies over his last five holes for a 67 and joined Johnson at 9-under 135.They had a one-shot lead over Grayson Murray (69) and Andrew Landry (67).LOS ANGELES (AP) – Moriya Jutanugarn took the lead into the weekend at the HUGEL-JTBC LA Open in her latest bid to join younger sister Ariya as an LPGA Tour winner.Moriya Jutanugarn shot a bogey-free 5-under 66 at Wilshire Country Club to get to 8-under 134 in the LPGA Tour’s first event in Los Angeles since 2005.The 23-year-old from Thailand hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation. She started fast with birdies on the par-5 second, par-4 third and par-3 fourth and added two more on the par-4 11th and par-5 13th.Ariya Jutanugarn has seven tour victories. She was even par after a second 71.Marina Alex was second after a 68. PITTSBURGH (AP) Tom Wilson’s aggression helped propel him from fourth-line grinder into a difference-maker who skates alongside Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. His teammates feed off the edginess of his play. His coach loves his tenacity.”There are very few Tom Wilsons in the league,” Barry Trotz said. And in Game 4 of Washington’s increasingly prickly Eastern Conference semifinal against Pittsburgh, there won’t be any at all.The league suspended Wilson three games for his run-in with Penguins forward Zach Aston-Reese that left the rookie with a concussion and a broken jaw.Aston-Reese was skating in front of the Washington bench when Wilson’s left shoulder hit some combination of Aston Reese’s shoulder and jaw in the middle of the second period.Following a brief conference among the on-ice officials Calvin De Haan Jersey Womens , Wilson was not penalized on the play and the Capitals used it as a rallying point on their way to a dramatic 4-3 victory that gave them a 2-1 series lead. The league, however, suspended Wilson following a hearing on Wednesday, ruling the hit was illegal. The league considered Aston-Reese’s head the initial point of contact and called the incident avoidable. The decision means the Capitals are now forced to push the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions to the brink of elimination without one of their most physical players.Trotz defended Wilson, who has now been disciplined by the department of player safety three times this season.”It was a collision,” Trotz said Wednesday before the suspension was announced. ”They hit and to me it looked like body on body. We’ve stopped it, we’ve looked at it, there’s pictures all over the Internet that you can see. He doesn’t leave his feet. It’s body-on-body. … I’m surprised the player has the injury that he has.”The incident overshadowed the kind of taut and electric play that’s come to symbolize one of the NHL’s top rivalries.Sidney Crosby gave the Penguins the lead with a goal late in the second period only to have Washington – in a historically un-Washingtonlike move whenever the Capitals face Pittsburgh – beat Matt Murray twice in the third to win, the last coming on Ovechkin bunting in a rebound of his own shot with just 1:07 to play.”I really believe this year has felt a little bit different,” Washington forward Jay Beagle said. ”Even in season when we would get down a couple goals we could fight back. It seems like we’re never out of it.”Then again, it’s been 36 months since the Penguins have exited the postseason without the Cup on the team plane.Pittsburgh has ripped off nine consecutive series victories during its run at the top, and has only trailed after three games once, in last year’s Eastern Conference final against Ottawa. The Penguins rebounded to win in seven games and there’s hardly any panic. It’s not what Pittsburgh does. The other thing the Penguins try not to do? Get so caught up in trying to retaliate against Wilson that they forget why they’re out there in the first place.Defenseman Kris Letang pointed to his team’s antagonist – and entirely legal – response to Wilson in Game 3 as proof.Jake Guentzel delivered a shot into the end boards. Defenseman Jamie Oleksiak basically begged Wilson to fight Womens Deryk Engelland Jersey , but didn’t take it too far when Wilson failed to engage.”After the whistle we walked away,” Letang said. ”There’s not much business to do. I liked our answer.”The Penguins will need another one if they want to keep their hopes of becoming the first team in 35 years to three-peat alive. They’ve only dropped consecutive games in the playoffs five times in two-plus years and have lost to Washington only once in 10 all-time postseason meetings. The Capitals have momentum on their side. Pittsburgh has history.”It’s hard to win in the playoffs and you’re going to go through ups and downs and emotional highs and emotional lows,” Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. ”And it’s all about how you handle those and respond. … Right now our eyes are on Game 4.”—UNDISCIPLINED OR PLAIN SLOPPY?The Nashville Predators won the Presidents’ Trophy despite leading the NHL in penalty minutes. They had played with much more discipline until melting down with three consecutive penalties helping turn a 3-0 lead after the first period into a 7-4 loss and a 2-1 deficit to the Winnipeg Jets. Now Nashville faces a challenge on Thursday night (9:30 p.m. ET NBCSN) in their Western Conference semifinal to avoid being pushed to the brink of elimination in the best-of-seven series.”We have a smart group,” Predators center Ryan Johansen said Wednesday. ”We understand what we did wrong and what needs to be done.”Not only did the Predators not help themselves with five penalties – three in the third after tying the Jets at 4-4 – they didn’t play well after grabbing a big lead.”We just sat back too much,” Predators forward Filip Forsberg said. ”Obviously they scored a goal early and after that we just became passive and, yeah, I don’t think it would have mattered which team we were playing. If we play like that, we’re going to get scored on.”—WHERE’S PHIL?Penguins forward Phil Kessel set a career high with 92 points during the regular season, but has just one secondary assist through three games of the series and – perhaps more troubling for a player with 330 goals – only four shots on net.Sullivan and the coaching staff met with Kessel before Game 3 in an attempt to provide insight into what Kessel could do to get it going. The main thing? Just becoming more active. Sullivan wants Kessel to get closer to traffic in front of the net instead of loitering at the half boards looking for an opening.—AP Sports Writer Teresa Walker contributed to this report.—

NEW YORK (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes simply outplayed the New York Islanders in a matchup of teams headed for a spring without playoff games.Trevor van Riemsdyk scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period and Scott Darling made 26 saves as the Hurricanes beat the reeling Islanders 4-3 Sunday.Van Riemsdyk’s second goal of the season came on a long slap shot with 6:49 remaining to help snap Carolina’s three-game losing streak and continue the late season swoon by the Islanders Custom Minnesota Wild Jerseys , who have just one win their last 12 games.Jaccob Slavin, Lee Stempniak and Victor Rask also scored for the Hurricanes.”Our group has mental toughness,” Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said. ”We were real good 5-on-5. It was a good team win.”Anders Lee scored twice and Josh Bailey had a goal and an assist for New York. John Tavares had three assists and Jaroslav Halak finished with 35 saves.Rask’s goal with just under six minutes remaining in the middle period gave Carolina a 3-2 lead heading, before Lee tied it on the power play at 8:05 of the third with his second of the game and career-high 35th of the season.Lee took little solace in his personal achievement as his team faces another spring without the postseason. The Islanders are 1-7-4 in their last 12 games. They will almost certainly miss the playoffs for the second straight year after appearing three times in four years.”It’s painful because we work extremely hard and we don’t have much to show for it,” Lee said. ”That’s why this is so frustrating.”The free-falling Islanders came out with virtually no energy and the Hurricanes notched two quick goals. Slavin opened the scoring at 2:50 when his shot from the point found its way through traffic and past Halak.Stempniak, playing in his 900th NHL game, made it 2-0 at 4:44 with an unassisted goal from the high slot, his third of the season.Bailey narrowed the deficit to 2-1 at 10:49 of the second, tipping a shot by defenseman Ryan Pulock past Darling. It was Bailey’s 18th goal this season.Lee tied the score at 2, knocking in a rebound on the power play at 12:22 of the second. Tavares and rookie Mathew Barzal assisted. Barzal Patrick Kane Jersey , who leads all rookies with 73 points, has 54 assists.Carolina outshot the Islanders 13-6 in the first period and 17-11 in the second before a quiet late-afternoon crowd of 10,688 at Barclays Center. The Islanders are last in the league in average attendance with just over 12,000 fans per game. The Islanders announced in late January they would split games between their former home – Nassau Coliseum – and Brooklyn for the next three seasons before moving into a yet-to-built arena at Belmont Park in 2021.But they have struggled at home this calendar year, going 4-11-1 over their last 16 games at Barclays Center after as 12-3-3 start on home ice.Despite his team’s poor results, Islanders coach Doug Weight continued to look for positives as his first full season as coach winds down.”We fought to tie the game but they got the fourth one and we couldn’t tie it,” he said. ”They came out hard but we had some good opportunities. We battled back.”The Hurricanes have also slumped in recent weeks to again fall from the playoff chase in the Eastern Conference. Carolina hasn’t reached the postseason since 2009. They came into Sunday’s contest 3-9-2 over their previous 14 games. The Islanders were coming off back-to-back losses in a home-and-home set with Washington. They started the game with Tavares unusually on left wing with Barzal at center and Jordan Eberle on right wing. But following Carolina’s two quick strikes, Tavares were reunited with his wingers Lee and Bailey. Tavares’ status is one of many clouds hanging over the Islanders since the 27-year-old captain could become an unrestricted free agent this July and could leave the franchise with no return.NOTES: The Islanders scratched D Dennis Seidenberg and D Brandon Davidson, along with F Ross Johnston. … Carolina scratched D Noah Hanifin because of an upper body injury. … Carolina improved to 8-3-3 in their last 14 games against Islanders and the Hurricanes are 24-9-7 since the start of the 2008-09 season against New York. … Lee’s tying goal in the third came about 40 seconds after Carolina forward Sebastian Aho was whistled for hooking Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho.UP NEXTIslanders: Host Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.Hurricanes: Host Edmonton on Tuesday night. WASHINGTON (AP) Sergei Bobrovsky looked as poised facing 58 shots as he did before the game when he calmly walked down the hallway in a buttoned-up beige trenchcoat. On the ice, Bobrovsky stood out even more. The goaltender with a history of playoff struggles looked like his two-time Vezina Trophy-winning self in making 54 saves as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Washington Capitals 5-4 on Sunday night on Matt Calvert’s overtime winner to take a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series.”He’s our best player and he was our best player by a mile tonight www.montrealcanadiensteamshops.com ,” said Calvert, whose one-handed rebound 12:22 into overtime sent the Blue Jackets into a frenzy. ”It makes us confident. When you’ve got him making up for your mistakes, it’s always good. He’s been doing it all season.”The playoff version of Bobrovsky of years past was a confounding nightmare compared to his elite play during the regular season: 3-10 with a 3.63 goals-against average and .887 save percentage. Through two games this year, the second of which coach John Tortorella called ”one of the best goaltending performances” he has seen, the reserved Russian has stopped 81 of 88 shots to send Columbus home for Game 3 Tuesday in a place it’s never been before. The Blue Jackets had never led a playoff series until Thursday night. With ”Bob” locked in like never before in the Stanley Cup playoffs, they’re two victories away from advancing to the second round for the first time in franchise history.”I would say your career is a journey and you learn some things here and there,” Bobrovsky said. ”It doesn’t matter what’s in the past. When we’re gonna play third game, it doesn’t matter what happen tonight. Each moment is huge right now, and you just have to be ready.”Columbus appears ready for anything against an experienced opponent with a history of playoff disappointments that has now blown two-goal leads in consecutive games. Just like in Game 1 when charging and tripping calls on Tom Wilson and Andre Burakovsky cost the Capitals, they were done in by penalties on Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly that led to goals by Cam Atkinson and Zach Werenski.Alex Ovechkin scored twice on the power play and T.J. Oshie tied it with 3:35 left to give Washington a chance. When Philipp Grubauer was pulled for allowing four goals on 22 shots http://www.redwingsshoponline.com/authentic-anthony-mantha-jersey , Braden Holtby made seven saves, but now the Metropolitan Division champions are in a hole only 49 of 361 teams (13.6 percent) have dug out of to win a best-of-seven series.”Right now in hard position, but it’s going to be fun when we bounce back and … tie the series,” Ovechkin said.Coach Barry Trotz, who said he’d let his decision on who starts Game 3 simmer, added that the Capitals are ”not going away.” Through two games, the Blue Jackets have shown they aren’t, either.Penalty trouble almost cost the Blue Jackets as much as the Capitals, but they got to leave celebrating after Calvert’s OT goal held up to an offside review by the NHL situation room. Replays showed Calvert was just onside before scoring to make the Blue Jackets just the fifth team in NHL history to overcome a multi-goal deficit to win the first two games of a playoff series.”Luckily, I got the rebound Darren Helm Jersey , had one hand on my stick and the rest is history,” Calvert said. ”Two games in overtime, that can really crush a team.”History says Calvert is right. The Capitals are the sixth team to lose Games 1 and 2 of a best-of-seven series in overtime, and the previous five have all lost.NOTES: Columbus forward Josh Anderson scored after being ejected from Game 1 for boarding Washington’s Michal Kempny. … Columbus improved to 4-1 all-time in playoff overtime games. … Linesman Steve Barton had to be helped off the ice late in the first period after clipping skates with Anderson and going down clutching his left knee. On site as the standby official, mid-amateur golfer/referee Garrett Rank replaced Barton as the second linesman. … Columbus C Alexander Wennberg was out after taking a hit to the head from Wilson in Game 1. Coach John Tortorella only called Wennberg ”day-to-day” with an upper-body injury. … Capitals F Jakub Vrana was a healthy scratch after recording an assist and committing two turnovers in 6:58 of ice time in Game 1.—

CALGARY Authentic Josh Manson Jersey , Alberta (AP) Henrik Lundqvist has put together a two-game stretch unlike any since goaltenders began wearing facemasks full-time.In fact, it’s possible that nobody in the NHL has ever worked this hard for back-to-back wins.Henrik Lundqvist became the first goalie to stop 50 or more shots in consecutive victories since the NHL began tracking saves in 1955, lifting New York over the Calgary Flames 3-1 on Friday night.Lundqvist tied a career high with 50 stops on his 36th birthday. He is only the third NHL goalie to post consecutive 50-save games, joining the Rangers’ Gump Worsley on Jan. 27 and 30, 1963, and Chicago’s Al Rollins on Oct. 9 and 15, 1955. Worsley lost both his 50-save games, and Rollins split his.”You want to feel like you’re making a difference out there. That’s why I’m here,” Lundqvist said.No Rangers goalie had made 50 saves in a win since Mike Richter in 1996 before Lundqvist beat Vancouver 6-5 in overtime Wednesday night.”We kept them under 55 (shots) today, so we made his night a little lighter Ondrej Kase Jersey ,” Rangers defenseman Marc Staal joked.Lundqvist’s best save left Mikael Backlund shaking his head in the opening minute of the second period. Lundqvist dropped his stick and acrobatically dived across the crease to get his blocker on what looked like an easy goal for the Flames’ center. Not bad for a well-worn goalie in his 797th career game.”I’m 1-0 as a 36-year-old,” quipped the veteran Swede, whose 430 career wins rank eighth on the career list.Recently acquired center Ryan Spooner led New York with a goal and an assist. The 26-year-old has one goal and six assists in three games since he was part of a package traded to the Rangers from Boston for Rick Nash. Spooner is the first in franchise history with six assists in his first three games with the team, and also the first Ranger with multipoint efforts in his first three games with the club, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.”It’s been great,” Spooner said. ”I just really want to help out and that’s what I’ve been trying to do.”Kevin Hayes and Pavel Buchnevich also scored for New York. The Ranger will try for a Western Canada sweep Saturday night when they play at Edmonton.Brett Kulak scored for Calgary, which has lost three straight and is falling back of the pack battling for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference.”It’s a matter of scoring right now. We haven’t put the puck in the net in the past three games,” Flames captain Mark Giordano said. ”When we get those chances, we’ve got to get some traffic and bear down.”The Flames threatened Lundqvist with a power play 27 seconds into the game, but the veteran goaltender was up to the task. The Rangers took a 1-0 lead shortly after. On a faceoff in the Flames end Rickard Rakell Jersey , Spooner slapped the puck directly on net off the draw. Rookie goaltender Jon Gillies stopped the high shot, but he couldn’t control the rebound, and Hayes banged in the loose puck. After Lundqvist robbed Backlund, the Rangers promptly raced on an odd-man rush with Buchnevich, after being stopped on his initial chance, eventually poking the puck over the line.Spooner’s breakaway goal at 10:48 of the second made it 3-1, and that was more than enough for Lundqvist, who shut the door the rest of the way to improve to 25-21-5.Gillies had 24 stops to fall to 2-2-0. The Flames are 3-6-1 since the loss of veteran goaltender Mike Smith to a lower-body injury, which has left the crease to rookies Gillies and David Rittich.NOTES: Lundqvist is one of three goalies ever with 25 wins in 12 or more seasons, joining Martin Brodeur (15) and Patrick Roy (14). … Matthew Tkachuk had an assist Womens Ryan Getzlaf Jersey , giving him 49 points, surpassing his total as a rookie. … Drew Shore made his debut for the Flames. RALEIGH Winnipeg Jets Hoodies Womens , N.C. (AP) Jordan Weal was shocked by his goalie’s impressive save in the final minute of overtime. He regained his composure just in time to score the winner.Weal’s goal with 3.1 seconds left in the extra period lifted the Philadelphia Flyers over the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 on Tuesday night moments after Brian Elliott deflected a shot with the knob of his stick.”My jaw dropped on that save. It was unbelievable,” Weal said. ”Just weathered the storm, and that’s 3-on-3 – if you can weather the storm at one end, that’s when the fast break happens.”Wayne Simmonds also scored to help the Flyers snap a four-game losing streak and earn two important points in the crowded Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference races. Philadelphia leapfrogged Columbus and the New York Islanders with 59 points, while Carolina is one point behind those two teams with 57.Elias Lindholm scored a power-play goal for the Hurricanes, who have lost three in a row to fall to 2-3 on an eight-game homestand. They have been held to a single goal in each of the three losses.”It’s tough to win when you score only one goal,” Lindholm said, adding that goalie Cam Ward ”has been playing unbelievably for us. Too bad we can’t help him with a win and score more goals for him.”Elliott, making his first start since missing four games with a lower-body injury, stopped 27 shots for the Flyers, who had gone 0-3-1 in a four-game stretch that followed a run of eight wins in nine games.”It was big because we’d been playing some good hockey and dominating for periods of time, and today I think we had a good 60-minute effort,” Weal said. ”It all came together, and it’s a huge two points.”Ward made 28 saves for Carolina, which had a great chance to win it late in OT when Elliott made his knob-of-the-stick save on Jordan Staal’s shot into a seemingly open net and Claude Giroux laid out to block Jeff Skinner’s follow-up attempt.”The guys just really laying out Winnipeg Jets Hats Womens , doing whatever they have to do to get the win … that’s great to see,” defenseman Andrew MacDonald said.Weal then ended it by snapping a shot from the circle past Ward.Carolina’s defeat came two days after a 3-1 loss to San Jose that was punctuated by coach Bill Peters calling out his players for their ”disappointing effort” and promising lineup changes. The only changes to the active roster: Forward Phil Di Giuseppe and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck were in, and forward Marcus Kruger and defenseman Haydn Fleury were scratched.Peters expressed satisfaction that his team responded with desperation in this one.”I thought it was real good,” he said. ”I thought it was a very competitive game. We shouldn’t change that. Once we get our chances, we’ll continue to score.”“Right after a goal, the first and last minutes of each period, those are big moments. You can’t give up goals,” Krug said on the Bruins’ Twitter account. “You’ve got to keep that momentum and continue to go. It was another mistake where they scored the same type of goal twice in the game. Normally we pick up on that, make the adjustments and go from there. It was unfortunate we couldn’t keep that momentum and go because I thought we were playing pretty well.”The Canadiens, meanwhile, are 6-4-0 in their past 10 games. The win over the Senators was the 600th of Canadiens coach Claude Julien’s career.“It may be special, but I’m not the kind of person who pays much attention to things like that,” Julien said after the game. “In 20 years, when I’m in my rocking chair, maybe I’ll be able to look back on these kinds of moments www.goldenknightsshoponline.com , but right now I still have a lot of drive in me to continue winning. “It’s good, but to me it’s not as important as what I see in front of me.”The Canadiens bounced back from a 2-1 deficit after two periods to defeat the Senators. They got fired up after a goal by Phillip Danault, which would have given the Canadiens a 3-2 lead, was called back when coincidental minors were called, including a controversial embellishment call against Canadiens forward Artturi Lehkonen, who was being hooked by Senators defensemen Thomas Chabot.“We were a little upset and we transferred that energy the right way actually,” Canadiens captain Shea Weber told Montrealcanadiens.com. “It was a good reaction. I think guys were really obviously upset and I thought we deserved a goal there, but we did the right things and we came back and played the right way after that.”It was the 10th time the Canadiens have scored at least five goals in a game this season. They did it 11 times all of last season.“We’re a different team than we were last year,” Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher told the Montreal Gazette. “That kind of goes without saying.“I think we play with more energy, I think we play better as a five-man unit and that leads to success at both ends of the rink. We’re spending less time in our zone and playing more in the other end, and the more time you play down there it’s only a matter of time before pucks start going in.”

DENVER (AP) So about that swipe P.K. Subban took at the speedy forward causing Nashville so much grief.”Playoff hockey Jonathan Marchessault Jersey ,” the Predators defenseman said a day after clocking Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon in the side of the head with his right glove. Once untangled, both were sent to the penalty box for holding during Colorado’s 5-3 win Monday.”Do it again next game,” Subban said .This series definitely took a step toward the chippy side as the top-seeded Predators lead 2-1 heading into Game 4 in Denver on Wednesday.”We’re just getting to know each other, right?” Colorado defenseman Nikita Zadorov said. ”It’s the playoffs. It’s always like that. It’s fun. They’re an experienced team that went to the final last season, and they know what to do to draw penalties. Sometimes after the whistle.”On a play in the second period Monday, Mackinnon was skating along the boards when Subban poked at the puck with his stick in his left hand and then delivered a blow with his right. Subban tossed MacKinnon to the ice as teammates rushed in. Subban was booed by the raucous crowd the rest of the night.”I just try to play hard,” Subban said. ”I don’t really hear it anymore. It’s happened so much over my career. Just try to go out there and do my job, be an impactful player when I’m on the ice.”Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog understands the heightened emotions this time of year. Even more so since the Avalanche haven’t been in postseason position since 2014.”There’s a lot on the line,” Landeskog said. ”If you’re not emotionally involved, it would be weird. You leave everything on the ice. That’s what we did. I’m sure they feel the same way on the other side.”Subban relishes the physical nature of a series – and perhaps getting under the skin of an opposing forward or two.”It’s easy to get into it when you know you’re going to hit somebody Marc-Andre Fleury Jersey , when you know you have to finish all your checks,” Subban said. ”Next game should be another physical one.”So far, Colorado has scored the game’s first goal in each contest. What’s more, the Avs hold a 5-0 advantage in first-period scoring during the series. That’s partly why Nashville went through a frenzied practice Tuesday, complete with some light checking.”Today, there was a message behind it and some passion in our practice,” defenseman Ryan Ellis said. ”It was great to see. Not only competing but making plays. We need that to translate into the game.”Goaltender Pekka Rinne was sharp as well, turning back just about everything thrown at him during practice. That hasn’t been the case in a series where he’s given up 10 scores and has a 4.17 goals-against average. Rinne was taken out Monday with Colorado leading 4-0 after MacKinnon’s second goal of the game at 4:25 of the second period.”For sure, yesterday was a disappointing night for all of us,” Rinne said. ”We need to bounce back.”Nashville coach Peter Laviolette isn’t that concerned with the psyche of his elite goaltender – or that of his team Nate Schmidt Jersey , which advanced to the Stanley Cup Final a season ago before losing to Pittsburgh.”If we could’ve played at noon, they’d all want to play right away,” Laviolette said. ”That’s the nature of competitive people.”And that’s why Landeskog thinks the Avalanche will see a revamped Rinne on Wednesday.”He’s a real good goaltender and made it tough on us all series long really,” Landeskog said. ”I’m sure he’s going to want to come back and have a good game.”NOTES: Colorado D Samuel Girard practiced Tuesday while wearing a non-contact jersey. Rantanen skated down the left side and sent a pass through a sea of sticks to MacKinnon, who tapped it in before Dubnyk had a chance to fully turn his head.“He was in a good place and he made a good play,” Dubnky said.Wild coach Bruce Boudreau offered another explanation.“It’s MacKinnon. He’s going to get a lot of goals like that http://www.goldenknightsshoponline.com/authentic-oscar-dansk-jersey ,” Boudreau said.MacKinnon picked up right where he left off from last season, when he tallied 39 goals and 58 assists on his way to finishing second in the Hart Trophy vote. He led the team in shots Thursday with eight. Carl Soderberg scored, while Rantanen and J.T. Compher added empty-net goals for the Avalanche, who moved to 15-5-3 in home openers since moving to town from Quebec.Varlamov returned to net after missing the playoffs last season with a knee injury he suffered late in the regular season. He made his eighth opening-night start in a burgundy-and-blue sweater, surpassing Patrick Roy for the most by an Avalanche goaltender. This also was Varlamov’s 400th career NHL game.“He’s grown so much as a goalie,” MacKinnon said. “His mindset is he can play a low-shot game and stay sharp, and he was great.”Colorado thought it had a two-goal lead when Colin Wilson scored 1:36 into the third after knocking in a puck out of the air. The goal was reviewed and disallowed after it was determined Wilson’s left glove batted the puck in.No matter, Varlamov protected things with save after save. None bigger than stopping an Eric Staal wrist shot with his right shoulder on a 2-on-1 with just under 5 minutes remaining.Rantanen added an empty-net goal with 1:53 remaining and Compher another in the waning seconds to seal the victory.Colorado outshot the Wild 40-21. Zach Parise gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead on a backhand pass from Mikko Koivu early in the first period. Parise missed the opening 39 games a season ago due to a back ailment that required surgery. After steadily working his way back into form, Parise suffered a broken sternum in the playoffs.Minnesota is coming off a season in which it posted 101 points before losing to Winnipeg in the first round of the playoffs.“There was some sloppiness that’s not going to be seen in game 20,” Boudreau said. “Pucks bouncing over the sticks and over-skating the puck and things of that nature. … I think they did know how quick the pace was going to be Authentic Oscar Lindberg Jersey , faster than the preseason, but took us a while to get up to it.”As for the Avalanche, general manager Joe Sakic has modest goals this season after his team returned to the postseason for the first time since 2013-14. They ended last season at 25.8.“Our goal is to make the playoffs, but the most important thing for us is to see the growth of this group,” Sakic said. “We’re excited to see who makes that next jump.”NOTES: Wild F Marcus Foligno was tripped by D Tyson Barrie late in the second period. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two years ago http://www.piratesfanproshop.com/authentic-colin-moran-jersey , the Minnesota Twins made Derek Falvey their chief baseball officer with the precondition that Paul Molitor remain as manager.Molitor presided over a playoff team and won the American League Manager of the Year award in 2017, but the Twins slipped backward this season. Last week, Falvey and general manager Thad Levine decided the time was right to hire their own manager.Citing pursuit of more productive development by their younger players, Falvey and Levine fired Molitor on Tuesday while offering him an opportunity to remain with the organization in an undefined position in baseball operations.“This wasn’t about our record this year. This is about what we think is best as we continue to grow a young team in the direction toward being a championship contender,” Falvey said.Falvey and other club executives expressed confidence that Molitor would stay with the Twins beyond the 20 years he has already worked for them in various roles, including the final three seasons of his Hall of Fame playing career.“I fully respect that decision,” Molitor said in a statement distributed by the team. “I will forever be grateful for the opportunity they gave me to serve in the role as manager for these past four years. I’m going to consider their genuine offer to serve in a different capacity to positively impact the Twins from a different role.”The Twins went 305-343 under the 62-year-old Molitor, with one appearance in the playoffs in 2017. They were 78-84 this year, long out of postseason contention after a series of early setbacks to several key players.Falvey and Levine, in a news conference at Target Field to announce the change, didn’t articulate specific reasons for firing Molitor or desired qualities they’re seeking with his replacement. The 20-minute session with reporters was largely filled with praise of Molitor’s acumen and attitude, including a willingness to employ data-driven, new-age strategy like defensive shifts and starting a game with a relief pitcher. With a backdrop of the struggles this year by center fielder Byron Buxton and third baseman Miguel Sano, the players long targeted as franchise cornerstones, the Twins have a need for new approaches and voices for their prospects that stretches beyond the main man in the dugout, however. Soon after Molitor was dismissed from his post David Freese Jersey , the Twins announced the firing of seven minor-league coaches and two strength and conditioning coaches from the major league staff.“In conversation with Paul last year at that time, we did look at what the future could look like if he wasn’t managing,” Falvey said. “It’s never the right time to make a difficult decision, and it’s never easy. You have to weigh all the factors that we learned about this team this year, where we are and what need to do moving forward. We felt like now was the time to have that conversation with Paul.”After the Twins went 85-77 and reached the wild-card game last season, Molitor was given a new three-year contract. Before Minnesota edged into the postseason, there was buzz that Molitor might’ve been let got at the end of last season.“I don’t really think that that was a huge roadblock to them,” Pohlad said. “I mean, everybody wanted the situation to work out, and I did too, because Paul’s a personal friend and he’s done so much for our organization and is so important to our community. So I feel good about that decision.”Executives often prefer to pick their own managers, though, and Falvey and Levine will now undertake that task. They’re willing to wait until after the World Series to decide, they said, in case a candidate is still participating.“This is an eye toward the future,” team president Dave St. Peter said. “What puts us in the best position to dig out of this hole that we’re in?”The Twins acquired relievers Fernando Rodney Tyler Glasnow Jersey , Addison Reed and Zach Duke, starting pitchers Lance Lynn and Jake Odorizzi and designated hitter Logan Morrison over the winter, but Rodney and Duke were the only additions who couldn’t be considered disappointments on the field.Shortstop Jorge Polanco was hit with an 80-game suspension to start the season for a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance, and starting pitcher Ervin Santana’s recovery from surgery on his middle finger was painfully slow. Catcher Jason Castro suffered a season-ending knee injury. Second baseman Brian Dozier labored through the summer with substandard production. Rodney, Duke, Lynn and Dozier, along with shortstop Eduardo Escobar and relief pitcher Ryan Pressly, were all traded to contenders in July and August.Molitor, who spent the final three seasons of his Hall of Fame playing career with his hometown team, held several roles within the organization before he was named the 13th manager of the Twins for 2015.Molitor was a roving minor league instructor, focusing on baserunning and infielding, from 2003 through 2013 with a one-year stint as hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners in between. He was bench coach for the Twins under manager Tom Kelly in 2000 and 2001 and then an assistant coach under manager Ron Gardenhire in 2014 with emphases on baserunning, bunting, infielding and in-game strategy.“What we’re aspirational of controlling is identifying that young core of players we’ve talked about for years, in this community, and applying ourselves this offseason to try to have those guys collectively take a step forward http://www.piratesfanproshop.com/authentic-adam-frazier-jersey ,” Levine said. “And I think if we do that, the wins and losses will probably take care of themselves, and the gap we see right now between ourselves and the Cleveland Indians will start closing pretty rapidly.” HOUSTON (AP) — One night after misplaying a fly ball that led to a six-run inning by the Astros, Nick Martini quickly got over his miscue and came up with another big hit against Houston.Martini hit a tiebreaking double in the ninth inning and the Oakland Athletics defeated Houston 4-3 Tuesday night, snapping the Astros’ six-game winning streak. The A’s moved within 1 ½ games of the AL West-leading Astros.“That’s a great team win,” Edwin Jackson said. “It’s a big win for us. It’s no secret we needed to come out today and get a win after (Monday’s) game.”Ramon Laureano drew a one-out walk from Roberto Osuna (1-2), Jonathan Lucroy singled and Martini followed with his double.“My mindset was hopefully he tried to get ahead with something early,” Martini said. “I didn’t want to fall behind. I was fortunate he put one in the zone, and I put a good swing on it.”Osuna said he was trying to go up and in but he missed down the middle. He was most disappointed in the walk to Laureano.“That never happened in the past, to walk a guy with four straight balls like that,” Osuna said.Martini misplayed a fly ball by Josh Reddick and then overthrew second in the eighth inning of Monday’s 11-4 win by the Astros.“Like I said yesterday, just get over it pretty quick,” Martini said. “You know what happened. I can’t change it. I wish I would have made that play, but I think that will happen a lot less than it will actually happen. I forgot about it today and came to the park and just tried to have a good approach.”Martini also hit a tying RBI double in the ninth against Houston on Aug. 17.“He’s come up with some big hits for us,” Oakland manager Bob Melvin said. “And beat the shift — he did it last time here, too. Hit a ball to center field like that. He’s got a pretty good idea at times when he needs to start his bat a little bit earlier.”Jeurys Familia (8-4) pitched a scoreless eighth. Blake Treinen worked a perfect ninth for his 33rd save. Oakland’s bullpen threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings.“Their backend is as good as anybody’s Chad Kuhl Jersey ,” Houston manager AJ Hinch said. “They get the lead, they come in and they’re tough to hit, which is one way they win. They don’t win if they don’t score. Three of their four runs were either walk or hit by pitch, so they took advantage of their opportunities.”Alex Bregman’s two-out, two-run double in the Houston fifth off Edwin Jackson made it 3-all.Matt Olson hit a three-run homer that gave Oakland a 3-1 lead in the third. Charlie Morton walked Jed Lowrie and hit Khris Davis with two outs before Olson’s 24th home run of the season.Houston took a 1-0 lead in the second on a groundout by Tyler White, scoring Carlos Correa.Morton allowed three runs on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.Jackson gave up two earned runs and four hits with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.SPRING IN HIS STEPAstros CF George Springer made two diving catches in the first three innings. In the third, Springer rushed to his right, diving into the left-center gap to rob Martini of extra bases.TRAINER’S ROOMAthletics: LHP Sean Manaea was diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis, and Melvin said Manaea would not throw for “a while.” Melvin said: “We’re hoping to get him back sometime this season. … Whether that happens or not, I’m not sure.” … LHP Brett Anderson was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained left forearm. CHICAGO — If the New York Rangers were attempting to find a way to build some confidence as they embark on a nine-day, four-game swing, Mika Zibanejad provided a performance the Rangers hope they can build on.The Rangers open their trip west on Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks fresh off a 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers that was sparked by Zibanejad, who tallied two goals and two assists in the victory on Monday night.New York was efficient offensively in the victory, netting four goals in just 19 shots as the Rangers continued to play well at home, where they have won three of their past five games. Now, as they prepare for Wednesday’s game in Chicago and three more games in California before they return back to Madison Square Garden on Nov. 4, the Rangers will look to do what they can to replicate Tuesday’s victory on the road.Article continues below ...New York is 0-2-1 in road games this season. Rangers coach David Quinn is hoping that the performance his team got from Zibanejad against the Panthers can help provide some magic in the upcoming road trip.“I can’t tell you how happy I am for him that he’s getting rewarded statistically, because I know early on he was playing really good hockey and not getting rewarded San Jose Sharks Hats Authentic ,” Quinn told reporters following Tuesday’s victory. “I’ll tell you, he’s a complete player. I knew he was a good player before I got this job, I didn’t know he was this good. This is a guy that does a little bit of everything — he’s got skill, he’s tough, he can skate. And he’s an unbelievable guy, too. He’s a fun guy to be around and we’re lucky to have him.”Tuesday’s win followed up a Rangers loss over the weekend in which New York could only manage one goal against the Calgary Flames on 45 shots. But after showcasing a much different result Tuesday against the Panthers, the Rangers hope to follow a similar game plan Thursday against Chicago.“I think we were shooting pucks,” Zibanejad told reporters. “We were moving it quickly. We took advantage of the way they played. We got shots on goal and pucks to the net and it’s not much more difficult than that.”Like the Rangers, the Blackhawks enter Thursday coming off a much-needed bounce-back performance. Brandon Saad scored a pair of goals in a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday that came just two days after a forgettable 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday in which Chicago allowed 55 shots on goal, including a record-setting 33 in the second period alone.Corey Crawford Custom San Jose Sharks Jerseys , who made his third start of the season on Tuesday, finished the game with 24 saves. As important as it was for the Blackhawks to get back on track in the midst of a three-game homestand, Saad’s performance may have been equally vital. Saad had been relegated to the fourth line and Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville repeatedly told reporters he needed to see more from Saad.Saad responded on Tuesday and now hopes to use the two-goal game as a reminder that he can be an effective part of Chicago’s scoring attack when needed.“I thought (Saad) had the puck way more, I thought he took it to the net more and I think his speed was noticeable,” Quenneville told reporters Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Casey DeSmith is not the highest-paid or most accomplished goaltender on the Penguins. Yet he’s playing like it Adidas Michael Hutchinson Jersey , a development that’s helped Pittsburgh keep its season from unraveling. The backup thrust into a starting role while two-time Stanley Cup winner Matt Murray recovers from a lower-body injury and shaky play stopped a career-high 48 shots as Pittsburgh fended off a third-period Boston rally to slip by the Bruins 5-3 on Friday night.DeSmith improved to 7-2-1 in his last 10 starts, keeping his cool even after the Bruins erased a two-goal deficit in the third period by scoring twice in 54 seconds. Jake Guentzel restored Pittsburgh’s lead by tipping home Kris Letang’s point shot with 9:13 to go, and DeSmith did the rest.“It’s always fun, though, when you’re getting peppered as long as you come out on the right side of things,” DeSmith said. “It was a little (chaotic) there at the end but glad we pulled it out.”The Penguins appeared to be firmly in control after Zach Aston-Reese’s short-handed goal — Pittsburgh’s first down a man in 57 games — with 58 seconds to go in the second period made it 3-1.Boston’s Chris Wagner and David Krejci drew the Bruins even when they beat DeSmith less than a minute apart in the third. But the Penguins executed perfectly on a faceoff in the Boston zone, with Sidney Crosby winning the draw and then sending the puck back to Letang. He shot it and Guentzel extended his stick to get a piece of it. The puck slid by Jaroslav Halak for Guentzel’s 13th of the season.“I know he’s going to shoot it,” Guentzel said. “I just put my stick there and hit it. We run that (play) in practice. Sid kind of gave the nod so we knew it was coming. Obviously a great play by Sid.”Brandon Carlo scored for the first time in 115 games for Boston and Halak stopped 24 shots but the Bruins had trouble with DeSmith, who has filled in capably with Murray spending most of the first two months of the season dealing with injuries or a serious dip in form. The team activated Murray on Wednesday but coach Mike Sullivan has chosen to stick with DeSmith, though Murray is likely to make his first start since Nov. 17 on Saturday night when the Kings visit. DeSmith insists he won’t change his approach now that he’s engaged in a full-on competition battle for playing time.“I think when I get a game, I go out there, try to win, try to play my best,” DeSmith said. “(Just) keep working hard in practice, doing all the same things. That’s the way to keep having success is to not change anything once you get a hold of it.”The Bruins dominated for long stretches thanks in part to sloppy play by the Penguins, but DeSmith managed to keep Pittsburgh in it.“He’s a good goalie Adidas Mike Hoffman Jersey , but I thought our scoring chances weren’t A scoring chances, especially in the first period,” Krejci said. “But that’s how it goes sometimes.”DeSmith’s flashiest stop came in the first. He was sliding to his right when Brad Marchand picked up a bouncing puck and moved to DeSmith’s left. The goaltender reached back with his glove and plucked a shot out of midair to keep the game scoreless.“I just kind of fell over and stuck something over there and thankfully it went in my glove,” DeSmith said. “That was not technique.”Derek Grant gave the Penguins the lead shortly after DeSmith’s save on Marchand. Phil Kessel, playing in his 277th consecutive game with the Penguins — the fourth-longest streak in franchise history — and 723rd straight overall, doubled Pittsburgh’s advantage 1:56 into the second period. The Bruins responded by pressing Smith, who eventually relented when Carlo fired a laser from the top of the right circle 11:53 into the second for just the seventh goal of his career and first since March 4, 2017, against New Jersey.“It had been a long while,” Carlo said. “But I feel like with the way that I’m starting to put the puck to the net a little bit more, the opportunities were coming for me to shoot the puck, tonight especially.”Though Boston eventually pulled even, Pittsburgh still ended up pulling away, with Aston-Reese putting in an empty-netter with six seconds left to ice it.NOTES: Letang exited late in the third period favoring his left leg and did not return. … If Kessel stays healthy, he could break Craig Adams’ club record of 319 straight games played near the end of the regular season. … The Bruins were 0 for 2 on the power play. (AP) With the top three teams in the Eastern Conference all coming out of the Atlantic Division Adidas Jonny Brodzinski Jersey , there’s a good chance the second and third best teams in the East will play in the first round for the second straight year. That imbalance has led some to push to abandon the division playoff format and go back to seeding teams one through eight by conference. Why stop there? The minor league that brought 3-on-3 overtime to hockey more than a decade before the NHL followed suit is adding a new innovation this season for the playoffs. The Southern Professional Hockey League will use a ”pick your opponent” playoff format, with the first-place team choosing its first-round opponent from the teams that finished from fifth to eighth place, then the second- and third-place teams makes their choices before the final two teams get matched up. In the second round, teams will be matched by regular-season points.SPHL President Jim Combs said he decided to bring this format to his 10-team league after a conversation with an executive from Austria’s Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, which already uses it.”I immediately knew this was the greatest idea I’d ever heard,” Combs said. ”The person at the top earns the right to pick the weakest of the bottom four. He can base it on travel, he can base it on difficulty of opponent, how the guy has been playing the past three or four weeks. A lot of times, you don’t want the eighth-place team because that’s the guy who has hustled and played hard and put the team together the last two or three weeks of the season. That’s the hot team.”Combs said most teams started the year with thoughts of following the old format of picking the team with the fewest points as the opponent. But as the season has gone on, Combs said teams seem more open to picking what they believe is best matchup.Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan said if the format was used in the NHL, he’d probably make it known he’d pick the lowest seed available in any case.”The first thing that comes to my mind is all of us coaches are paranoid,” Gulutzan said. ”So to actually have to pick somebody, you think immediately we’ve given them some fuel in a playoff series, right, like: `Oh yeah, they picked us.”’To add even more intrigue Adidas Peter Budaj Jersey , the SPHL will broadcast the selection show at the end of the season so fans and teams can watch live as the matchups are chosen and the extra motivation is created for whoever is picked as the most desirable playoff opponent.”I think there would be some bulletin board material,” said Columbus defenseman Ian Cole, who won the Stanley Cup the past two seasons with Pittsburgh. ”I think that would certainly fire a team up if you’re picking them because you think you could beat them.”Dallas general manager Jim Nill agrees with that sentiment, saying ”it might be great for their league, but it’s not something I’d encourage our league to do and I couldn’t see it ever happening.”Others are more intrigued by the idea, pointing to the unfairness last year that had Pittsburgh and Columbus matched up in the first round despite finishing with the second and fourth most points in the league, respectively.”It sounds like a great idea,” Buffalo backup goalie Chad Johnson said. ”I mean, why not if you’re in first place you should have that choice of who you want to play? It gives you that advantage regardless, because sometimes the eighth-place team, you might have struggled against them, right?”Combs said he has heard from executives from other minor leagues, NHL teams and a few people from the NHL league office about the new format and hopes it will become more widespread after people see the added drama it creates even if there is some initial hesitation.”In 2004, when we started 3-on-3 overtime, everyone laughed at us and said `Hey this will never happen at the top level,”’ Combs said. ”We played it for 10 years and the NHL adopted it Adidas Matt Read Jersey , they’re playing it, they revamped the All-Star Game. They have totally embraced it. Will the NHL take this? They might. I don’t know why after all this excitement every sport wouldn’t do it.”GAME OF THE WEEKPittsburgh at Toronto on Saturday. LAS VEGAS (AP) — With the city reeling from the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history Nate Thompson Jersey , Golden Knights defenseman Deryk Engelland delivered an emotional 58-second speech last October that continues to echo through Las Vegas today.Engelland’s address came days after the Oct. 1 massacre during a pregame ceremony honoring victims and first responders. It ended with the reassurances: “We’ll do everything we can to help you and our city heal. We are Vegas strong.”As the one-year anniversary of the massacre on the Las Vegas Strip that left 58 dead approaches, Vegas’ beloved NHL team remains very much a part of the healing process, true to Engelland’s words.“Anything like that happens, you definitely want to keep helping the process of the healing,” Engelland said following a recent preseason game as the Knights prepared for their second season. “I think last year was a good stepping stone and I think we can still do more this year.”The Golden Knights, who became a rallying point for many residents after the shooting, will make their way around town Monday, with several players and team personnel visiting command and dispatch centers for police and other first responders and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for a blood drive.“Being from here, you want to do as much as you can for the community you call home,” Engelland said. “I think every guy in this room wants to do what they can for Las Vegas. A lot of guys are going to be calling this home for a long time. We got a lot of great leaders in here that step up and do a lot of good things. We just try to help each other out and do whatever we can for the community.”Lifelong Vegas resident Tina Cartwright, who was at the outdoor concert when the gunman opened fire from a room in the Mandalay Bay casino-resort, said it took a long time for her to attend a crowded event after the shooting, during which she remembers running her life. It was a Golden Knights game that brought her back to enjoying her social life.“They gave me hope, because I didn’t want to go out in crowds and put myself in that position where I wasn’t close to an exit,” said Cartwright, 47. “I didn’t want to go out right away, so they were an immediate part of the healing process. I have friends who still won’t go to concerts or big gatherings, and I think the longer you wait it can be detrimental. They just gave us something to look forward to in times that were dark.”Knights newcomer Max Pacioretty was with the Montreal Canadiens last season but said he remembers the shooting vividly. He said it was tough to watch on television. But he said watching the Knights from afar as they helped with the recovery process helped him see how special the team had become to the community. They had become much more than the town’s first major sports franchise, and much more than a team embarking on an inaugural campaign that would end in the Stanley Cup Final.“It’s something I feel that this community will never forget, and it’s a big reason why there’s such good chemistry between the fans and the city and this team,” Pacioretty said. “I feel as if people didn’t really know what to expect Authentic Oscar Fantenberg Jersey , what type of people and human beings hockey players are in a general spectrum. But I think they learned real quick. As soon as they knew that they were going to have to help this community overcome what they were going through, you saw them step up to the occasion right away.”During each home game last season, the Golden Knights recognized the Vegas Strong Hero of the Game, a first responder or citizen who risked his or her own life during the shooting to aid others. Engelland would talk to those heroes after the games. In September, Engelland and his family announced the Vegas Born Heroes Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to publicly recognize and reward charities and community members who consistently and selflessly help others to benefit the city.“It’s been an honor to honor those people who sacrificed their lives or made it out of there,” Engelland said. “We still talk to a lot of them here and there. We wanted to start our foundation and kind of branch a little bit away from that but not completely. Those first responders, we wanted to grow it and make it the heroes around Las Vegas that do the little things that might go unnoticed.”Unnoticed, until now. GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) After missing the playoffs for the first time in eight years, the New York Rangers are going all in on a makeover.Several star players were jettisoned at the trade deadline for youngsters and draft picks, there’s tough decisions to be made with free agents, and they’re seeking a new coach to lead the way.”We all know there’s going to be some changes during the summer,” veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist said.”Part of me is a little excited about what’s ahead. I hope we take some good steps in the right direction. … Whoever is going to be here, we are going to compete and be sure to have a better year.”After a slow start to the season, the Rangers picked up their play but injuries to key players such as Chris Kreider, Kevin Shattenkirk, Kevin Hayes, Marc Staal and Mika Zibanejad hampered their ability to gain some consistency. Then, the retooling became a certainty in early February when general manager Jeff Gorton announced the team’s moves at the trade deadline would be with an eye to the future and not to save the season.Weeks later, Michael Grabner was dealt to New Jersey, Rick Nash to Boston Tanner Pearson Jersey , and J.T. Miller and captain Ryan McDonagh to Tampa Bay – with all going to teams that are in the playoffs. The Rangers closed the season losing eight of their final 10 and finished last in the Metropolitan Division – 20 points behind the Devils and Columbus Blue Jackets, for the two wild-card spots in the Eastern Conference.”It’s been a tough season for everyone – fans, players, the whole team organization,” said Mats Zuccarello, whose first year in the NHL was right after the Rangers last missed the playoffs in 2010.”I’ve never been in this situation before. It’s been a tough season mentally, lost a lot of good friends, but at the end of the day right now it’s over.”The lost season and resulting pivot to a youth movement cost coach Alain Vigneault his job when he was fired hours after a season-ending 5-0 loss at Philadelphia last Saturday night. The Rangers went 226-147-37 in five years under Vigneault, with a run to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season in 2013-14.”We understand we didn’t get the job done,” Lundqvist said. ”When that happens, changes are going to happen. We had players leave, now coaches leave. We hoped and we expected more at the start of the season. Things happened along the way. … We were just not able to recover and changes were made and it was a tough stretch after that.”Gorton said he expects to interview five to 10 candidates for the head coach vacancy, and will consider anyone with coaching experience at any level.”We’re looking for somebody with a progressive mind, that’s thinking the game, that’s watching the game and seeing what’s going to happen next,” he said. ”Just a good person, a good leader, somebody we can work with and develop young players.”Some other things to know as the Rangers head into the offseason:YOUTH MOVEMENTThe moves at the trade deadline gave the team a chance to look at some younger players.Ryan Spooner, acquired from Boston in the deal for Nash, made the biggest impact with four goals and 12 assists in 20 games – nearly matching his production with the Bruins (nine goals, 16 assists).Teenage first-round picks Lias Andersson (one goal Jonny Brodzinski Jersey Womens , one assist in seven games) and Filip Chytil (one goal, two assists in nine) were also given chances to play down the stretch and could make the team out of training camp in the fall.FREE-AGENT FRENZY?The Rangers could choose to hasten their rebuild with some moves in free agency, but that option may be hampered due to tough decisions to make with some of their own players.Spooner is among the team’s eight restricted free agents, along with Jimmy Vesey, Kevin Hayes, Brady Skjei, Vladislav Namestnikov, Rob O’Gara, John Gilmour and Ryan Sproul. Also, Paul Carey, Cody McLeod, David Desharnais and backup goalie Ondrej Pavelec are unrestricted free agents and will not likely be re-signed.WATCH THE DRAFT BOARDThe Rangers have stockpiled draft picks this year with seven selections in the first three rounds, including three first-rounders. This will make it two straight years with multiple picks in the first round after four straight years without any.Unless they win the draft lottery, The Rangers aren’t going to get Rasmus Dahlin. However, other strong defensemen that could be available include Adam Boqvist, Evan Bouchard and Noah Dobson.NEED TO HEAL UPIn addition to the injuries that cost players time during the season, Zuccarello and Lundqvist both said they have been dealing with knee injuries throughout the season.Zuccarello said he just had some work done on his knee and will rest up for three to four weeks. Lundqvist plans to address his issue with doctors in the coming days so he can ”do all the right things to be 100 percent when I start training and preparation for next season.”—Follow Vin Cherwoo at www.twitter.com/VinCherwooAP

WINNIPEG Minnesota Wild T-Shirts Authentic , Manitoba (AP) Filip Forsberg, Pekka Rinne and the Nashville Predators showed they aren’t ready for their season to end yet.Forsberg had two goals and an assist, Rinne stopped 34 shots for his second shutout of the playoffs, and the Predators beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-0 on Monday to force a decisive Game 7 in their Western Conference semifinal series.”Desperation,” Rinne said after his fifth career playoff shutout. ”It just shows that we have a really tight group.”Viktor Arvidsson also scored twice, including a late empty-netter, and added an assist for the Predators. Roman Josi and Ryan Johansen each had two assists. After the Jets’ top line combined for eight points in a 6-2 victory in Game 5 in Nashville to take a 3-2 series lead, the Predators No. 1 trio of Forsberg, Arvidsson and Johansen did the same when it mattered most.”It’s the most fun,” Forsberg said. ”You can never have more fun than playing these elimination games. … Just try to enjoy it as much as possible.”Connor Hellebuyck stopped 25 shots for the Jets.Game 7 in this series in which neither team has won consecutive games is Thursday at Nashville, Tennessee, with the winner advancing to face the expansion Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference final. Each team has also won twice on the road.”It’s been back and forth, up and down,” Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice said. ”It’s probably right that it’s going seven.”The Jets finished 0 for 4 on the power play Minnesota Wild Hoodies Authentic , including three chances in the first period.”The power play is probably just a microcosm of the way we played,” Winnipeg center Paul Stastny said. ”We probably weren’t moving as well or as sharp as we wanted.”With the Predators up 1-0 after one period, Forsberg doubled the lead at 8:44 of the second on a great solo rush for his sixth of the postseason. After breaking his stick in the defensive zone blocking a shot, the Swedish forward raced to the bench to get a new one as the puck almost simultaneously arrived at his feet. Forsberg stayed onside, fought off Jets defenseman Ben Chairot and beat Hellebuyck short-side before crashing into the net.Winnipeg had made an earlier push coming out of the first intermission, with Paul Stastny’s shot just wide being the best chance after Mathieu Perreault’s dump in hit the linesman and caromed into the slot. Stastny also missed from a tight angle off the boards on the follow up on Rinne. After Forsberg made it 2-0, Rinne was there to stop Adam Lowry with his pad before just getting a piece of Mark Scheifele’s shot on an abbreviated 2-on-1 to keep Nashville up by two.The Jets got their fourth power play of the night early in the third, but Scheifele fired wide on the best opportunity.Forsberg then took a pass from behind the net, played it between his own legs and beat Hellebuyck for his second of the night and seventh of the playoffs at 5:55.”I don’t think there’s any question that Fil’s a big-game player,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. ”(The second) goal was just good work by their line, but he had to finish it off. Let’s be honest, none of us in this room can make that play. … You’ve got to give him a lot of credit.”With Hellebuyck pulled for an extra skater, Arvidsson scored into the empty net with 4:02 left to seal Nashville’s win.Nashville took the lead just 62 seconds into the first period to quiet the usual rowdy, white-clad crowd at Bell MTS Place on Arvidsson’s fourth. The speedy winger crashed into the end boards after being taken down by Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien. Arvidsson briefly complained to the referee before getting back in the slot just in time to make a defensive deflection of a blast from Josi that looked destined to hit him directly in his head as he dropped to the ice.Referee Wes McCauley initially waved off the goal that bounced past Hellebuyck for high-sticking Minnesota Wild Hats Authentic , but it was determined after video review that Arvidsson’s stick was below the crossbar on the tip.The Predators and Jets finished with the two best records during the regular season – Nashville had 117 points to win its first Presidents’ Trophy, while Winnipeg was right behind with 114 points.NOTES: The extra day before Game 7 is due to a Justin Timberlake concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday night. … Teemu Selanne, a member of the original Jets from 1992-96, was in attendance. … Predators forward Scott Hartnell returned to the lineup after sitting out Game 5 as a healthy scratch. Calle Jarnkrok also drew in for Nashville on the fourth line with Mike Fisher after sitting out the last three. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) While Evander Kane watched Stanley Cup playoff hockey from his couch during the first eight years of his NHL career, the power forward felt confident he could thrive in the pressurized atmosphere of the postseason if he could only get the chance. When his long-delayed opportunity finally arrived Thursday night, Kane did everything he ever thought he could.Kane scored two goals in his first career playoff game and Martin Jones made 25 saves as the San Jose Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 in their first-round series opener. The game was a remarkable breakthrough for Kane, who joined the Sharks in a trade six weeks ago and reached the NHL postseason for the first time after 574 regular-season games and far too many early summers in Atlanta, Winnipeg and Buffalo. Now 26 years old and tired of waiting, Kane has played ferociously since he landed in San Jose, contributing 14 points in 17 games down the stretch before his playoff outburst.”It was nice to finally get out in the playoff atmosphere, and it was fun to finally get my first playoff win,” Kane said. ”It’s nice to contribute. That’s my job. I feel confident in my abilities. I don’t think it was my best game, but I’m never going to be mad when we get a playoff win and I get to contribute.”Game 2 is Saturday night at Honda Center. After a scoreless first period Custom Minnesota Wild Jerseys , Kane capitalized when two Anaheim penalties in 15 seconds left the Sharks with a two-man advantage. No Ducks were anywhere near Kane when he settled in the slot and scored on a one-timer from captain Joe Pavelski.Kane did it again with Pavelski’s help less than seven minutes later, sliding the puck past goalie John Gibson on a 2-on-1 break and crashing headfirst into the post immediately afterward. The rout was on 84 seconds later when Brent Burns slipped a long shot through traffic for his 13th career playoff goal.”(Kane) is a world-class player,” San Jose coach Peter DeBoer said. ”I think Buffalo was a tough situation for everybody, and when he got the opportunity to get into our room and play with Burns and Pavelski, he was re-energized. That’s what you’re seeing: A guy who got his passion back and came to the rink excited.”According to the NHL, Kane became the fourth player in the last 20 years to score multiple goals in his playoff debut, joining Alexander Radulov (2007), Mike Green (2008) and Gabriel Bourque (2012).With Kane leading the way, the Sharks easily took early control in the series between California rivals. San Jose and Anaheim have been regular playoff teams for the past 15 years, yet are meeting in the postseason for only the second time.Gibson stopped 30 shots for the Ducks, who lost a series opener at home in their third consecutive playoff series. Anaheim had won seven straight home games down the stretch, losing in regulation at home just once in 17 games since late January.”You can’t afford to take seven minor (penalties) and give the opposition an opportunity to practice their power play,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. ”It takes any momentum that you had building in the game. It flips everything in their favor.”Jones capably handled the Ducks’ infrequent scoring opportunities to earn his fifth career playoff shutout. Anaheim fans threw scattered boos at their team during the third period, particularly when the Ducks struggled to get the puck up the ice.The Ducks promptly gave away the home-ice advantage they had claimed with a frantic late-season rally past San Jose into second place in the Pacific Division. Anaheim won its final five regular-season games to finish with 101 points www.officialcanadiensprostore.com , while the Sharks lost five of their last six and ended up with 100.”I can count probably on one hand how many good shifts that we had the whole game,” Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin said. ”We have to be a lot better than that.”At least slow playoff starts are typical for these Ducks, who have lost Game 1 at home in four of their last five playoff series over the past three seasons. Anaheim still has appeared in two of the past three Western Conference finals.San Jose and Anaheim haven’t faced off in the postseason since 2009, when the eighth-seeded Ducks stunned the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Sharks in six games in the first round. Three players on each roster are still around for the rematch, including captains Ryan Getzlaf and Pavelski.NOTES: Cam Fowler missed the opener with an upper-body injury, and the Ducks’ top defenseman doesn’t appear to be close to returning. The club has said Fowler’s injury could keep him out for several more weeks. … Sharks C Joe Thornton skated in pregame warmups, but didn’t play in what would have been his first game since Jan. 25. The 38-year-old veteran has a right knee injury, but hopes to return soon. … Ducks D Kevin Bieksa also didn’t play, but is likely available after missing the last month due to surgery on his left hand.—

Unbeaten after two games for the sixth consecutive year http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-marshal-yanda-jersey , Denver showed its tenacity in a pair of fourth-quarter comebacks at home. Now it's time to see if the Broncos can win on the road.Quarterback Case Keenum, record-setting rookie running back Phillip Lindsay, standout receiver Emmanuel Sanders and the NFL's second-ranked offense will be tested Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens, who are 60-21 on their own turf since coach John Harbaugh arrived in 2008."They have great crowd noise. It's like playing at a college stadium," Denver coach Vance Joseph said. "It's going to be a tough out for our guys as far as traveling and playing our best game."Keenum orchestrated a late drive for the game-winning field goal last week against Oakland after throwing for 329 yards and three touchdowns in his Denver debut versus Seattle. Lindsay is the first undrafted rookie in NFL history to top 100 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two games, and Sanders has 14 catches for 231 yards and a score."They play really well together," Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said. "They have a quarterback at the helm that they believe in. In this game, confidence is 95 percent of it."All that aside, the Ravens (1-1) know the outcome could depend on how well they handle Denver linebacker Von Miller, who's already got four sacks as the focal point of an aggressive defense."He's the straw that stirs the drink, no doubt, one of the very best in the league at what he does," Harbaugh said. "We will have to have him accounted for at all times, on every play. If we don't do that, he'll wreck the game."The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Miller is vastly quicker than he looks."He's a physical freak. That's his major trait," Joseph said. "He's built like an outside linebacker, but he's got defensive back movement."Some things to know about the Denver-Baltimore matchup:FLACCO FACTORRavens quarterback Joe Flacco struggled in the first half of a 34-23 loss to Cincinnati last week, but he finished with 376 yards passing and has a 15-5 touchdown-to-interception differential in his past nine games. His success on Sunday could very well depend on how Baltimore handles Miller, who has three sacks in two career regular-season games against the Ravens — both of them victories. In a 2013 playoff game, Miller had a half-sack and seven tackles in a 38-35 double-overtime defeat."He's very disruptive, but that's going to be taken care of by the guys up front, our backs, everybody," Flacco said. "It's all hands on deck, and we'll have a plan for it."ROOKIE SENSATIONLindsay had his first 100-yard game rushing last week to go with a 71-yard effort on the ground against Seattle. The 5-8 rookie out of Colorado and 2018 third-round draft pick Royce Freeman (99 yards rushing) have developed into an effective 1-2 punch.Baltimore looked at Lindsay before the draft, and now they've got to stop him."The offensive line has done a good job," Harbaugh said Cheap Maurice Canady Jersey , "but this kid is running and he's making plays with his speed and his fearlessness."BROWN DELIVERSFree agent receiver John Brown has scored a touchdown in each of his first two games with Baltimore."It feels great," Brown said. "Most people had doubts about what I could do because of injuries, but I just want to keep rolling."Brown rang up 1,003 yards and seven TDs with Arizona in 2015 before being slowed by injuries the following two years."He's a humble guy, but he's very confident," Flacco said. "He's a lot of fun to be around."COURAGEOUS KEENUMKeenum starred with Minnesota last year, and his sizzling start with Denver lifted his record as a starter to 13-3.Keenum missed practice Wednesday with a sore knee, the result of a few hits he took while scrambling out of the pocket against Oakland."Yeah, I guess I need to slide a few more times instead trying to go run and bounce around off of defenders," he said with a grin. "But I want to get a first down, I want to score. I'm competitive in that way."Keenum has played against Baltimore three times with three different teams.LEWIS HONOREDFormer Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, a 2018 Hall of Fame inductee, will be honored by the team over the weekend. There will be a parade in Baltimore on Saturday. On Sunday, Lewis will make an on-field appearance just before the kickoff and will be presented his Hall of Fame ring at halftime.Quick Hits: Week 1 The quest for the Lombardi begins tonight. Below are some of the biggest storylines for each team ahead of Week 1.Falcons at Eagles: The Eagles remain a front runner in the NFC, but Nick Foles looked more back up quarterback than Super Bowl hero at times during the preseason. Can Philadelphia keep the party going and take down Atlanta, even without the talents of Carson Wentz? Or will Matt Ryan and the Falcons return to their 2016 form when they were the second ranked offense in the league? Bills at Ravens: In a twist of fate, Baltimore gift wrapped the Bills a playoff berth last year, ending a postseason drought that dated back to the 1999 season. However, while the Ravens have looked to revive the career of their wavering franchise quarterback, Buffalo shipped their starter to Cleveland and is relying on Nathan Peterman, who has a 38.4 career passer rating. Can the Ravens breathe new life into their offense and support their respected defense headlined by an aging Terrell Suggs? Or will the promise of the offseason additions fall flat at home? Jaguars at Giants: After a tumultuous 2017 campaign, Eli Manning is back at the helm and the drama surrounding Odell Beckham Jr.’s contract has been resolved. Jacksonville corner Jalen Ramsey has dominated offseason conversations, calling out quarterbacks and receivers around the league, becoming a walking source of bulletin board material. Will Beckham Jr. live up to the bag he secured or will Ramsey back up his extensive self endorsement and shut down the star receiver? Buccaneers at Saints: As a starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick has a 48-70-1 career record. By comparison, New Orleans’ Drew Brees has a 142-106-0 record. After losing in heart breaking fashion to Minnesota in the divisional round, can the Saints ride the wave of the Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram duo in 2018? Can Tampa Bay weather the storm with Fitzpatrick or are they doomed with or without a troubled Jameis Winston? Texans at Patriots: Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are no stranger to bouncing back from a Super Bowl loss. They begin their quest for a sixth championship and a third straight Super Bowl appearance against Houston. Can the Texans rely on a healthy J.J. Watt and Deshaun Watson to pull off Week 1 shocker like the Chiefs did in New England last season? Or will the Patriots, despite the departure of Malcolm Butler and suspension of Julian Edelman http://www.ravenscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-john-brown-jersey , assert their dominance? 49ers at Vikings: Even after overachieving in 2017, the Vikings decided to pivot by bringing in Kirk Cousins to team up with star receivers Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Will Kirk Cousins prove Washington wrong and deliver in Minnesota? Or will Jimmy Garoppolo continue his coming out party and remain undefeated as an NFL starter and bring renewed optimism to a 49ers team that struggled prior to trading for the former Patriots back up? Titans at Dolphins: With the departure of Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker have both a great opportunity and a great burden to support Ryan Tannehill’s return. Will they be able to step up? The Titans made several moves this offseason, bringing in former Ravens defensive coordinator Dean Pees, signing running back Dion Lewis and inserting Malcolm Butler into the secondary. Will these moves be able to put Tennessee over the top? Bengals at Colts: With Andrew Luck back in the lineup, can the Colts right the ship? Or will Luck’s once promising career finally flame out if he cannot stay on the field in 2018? It seems as if every year Marvin Lewis is on the hot seat, yet he is never ousted in Cincinnati. Is this the year Andy Dalton brings him the postseason success that has evaded the Bengals or will the Lewis era finally end after another disappointing season?Steelers at Browns: The buzz has been palpable surrounding Cleveland, despite coming off a win-less season in 2017. Will Josh Gordon, Jarvis Landry, Carlos Hyde, Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward shine against a top tier opponent or will Pittsburgh’s experience and stifling defense stall the process? How will the Steeler’s offense compensate for Le’Veon Bell’s likely absence? Chiefs at Chargers: Both teams seem to flirt with proficiency but fail to fully realize their potential each season. Is this the year that Kansas City is able to translate the talents of Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt, alongside new quarterback Patrick Mahomes, into a playoff run? Can the Chargers utilize Philip Rivers’ shrinking window and finally emerge from their middle of the pack status? Seahawks at Broncos: Both franchises have secured a Super Bowl victory in the last five seasons, but it feels like both organizations are further away from returning to the mountain top. With the Legion of Boom dismantled, can Russell Wilson’s brilliance carry Seattle? Still in search of a true heir at quarterback, can Von Miller and the Denver defense drive their success?Cowboys at Panthers: The Cowboys premier unit -the offensive line- is looking a little worse for wear. With that in mind, will Dak Prescott be able to rebound from his sophomore slump? Similarly, can Cam Newton get the protection he needs to succeed? With the suspension saga behind him, can Ezekiel Elliott emerge as the best running back in the NFL?Redskins at Cardinals: It is unlikely that either franchise is going to make a lot of noise this season in the highly competitive NFC. Can David Johnson, Patrick Peterson and Chandler Jones float an otherwise lacking roster in Arizona? Will Alex Smith be able to bring his regular season consistency to Washington or will not resigning Cousins haunt the Redskins? Bears at Packers: It is no secret that Green Bay’s ability to compete hinges on the health of Aaron Rodgers. With the support of emerging talent Davante Adams and veteran Jimmy Graham, can the Packers climb back to the top of the NFC North with a Week 1 divisional victory? Or will the Bears pull off a huge upset in Mitchell Trubisky’s sophomore season? Jets at Lions: After trading Teddy Bridgewater to New Orleans, the Jets are clearly all in on rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Can he get off to a hot start with help from number one wide receiver Robby Anderson? Or will Matthew Stafford begin his elusive campaign for a playoff win with a home opener victory? Rams at Raiders: If teams received a trophy for offseason transactions, the Los Angeles Rams would have emerged with the recognition. Despite all the hype last season, the Rams still failed to secure a playoff victory in 2017. Can Jared Goff continue his development with the support of new additions Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh and Brandin Cooks? With the preseason overshadowed by Khalil Mack’s hold out (which ultimately ended in a trade to Chicago), can Jon Gruden start his second tenure in Oakland off on the right note?

D.J. Moore’s two fumbles against Washington were an undeniable part of the Carolina Panthers loss on Sunday. The conservative Cheap Cam Newton Jersey , old school head coach that Ron Rivera often epitomizes might have taken the rookie out of the game after his first fumble. Instead, Rivera kept Moore in the game. Offensive coordinator Norv Turner called plays that gave Moore opportunities to be a part of the come back attempt. Quarterback Cam Newton trusted the rookie enough to throw the ball to him. Moore ended the day with four receptions for 59 yards. He was a contributor. That all traces back to Rivera’s decision to not bench him after his early struggles. Why am I talking about this decision in a column dedicated to highlighting conservative decision making? For one, I roasted Rivera yesterday. I think he has earned the criticism that I published and I stand by it, but that doesn’t mean that everything he does is awful. He did some good things yesterday, like keeping Moore on the field, and that deserves to be talked about as well. For two, the Turtle is all about conservative decision making. It isn’t just pointing out when things go poorly because of decisions made Cheap DJ Moore Jersey , it can also be about praising successes when small risks are taken. The point isn’t to suggest Rivera should always leap without looking. It is to encourage him to sometimes stick his neck on the line instead of burying his head in the sand when the odds are stacked heavily in his favor. We talked enough yesterday about the fourth and one punt and the play calling backed up into their own end zone that helped Washington build their lead against the Panthers. That is a lost cause, anyway. Rivera has doubled down on his decision to punt and we all know he will do it again. Instead, let’s just say Rivera made the right choice with regards to Moore’s playing time yesterday. Hopefully Moore learned from this loss and will be ready to make an impact going forward in this season. Maybe his skills with the ball in his hands can help the Panthers avoid a few fourth and ones. The football season is (finally) upon us. On Sunday, the Panthers kick things off with a home game versus the Cowboys. Both teams on paper match up fairly. Like the Panthers, the Cowboys are battling their own set of injuries on the offensive line. Both teams sport a quarterback able to control the game and both have a defense that’s talented. But the one position that could control tempo of the game for either team is running back. Ezekiel Elliott battled the drama of a looming six-game suspension last season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Elliott faced his suspension the latter half of the season but not without making some noise first. In a matter of 10 games, Elliott managed to rush for 983 yards. He’s fast, he has power Mario Addison Jersey , he has agility, and he’s one of the best in the NFL. There’s also no doubt about it, Elliott will be ready to play on Sunday and he’ll be running harder than ever. The Cowboys have an up and coming quarterback in Dak Prescott. However, Prescott doesn’t have the same talent at wide receiver he once had with the release of Dez Bryant in the offseason. Dallas has a young receiver in Michael Gallup and their other option is Allen Hurns — a former Jaguars standout. If things go faulty, Cowboys will have to rely heavily on Elliott. Thankfully for the Panthers, they have one of the best defenders in the league in Luke Kuechly. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said in the offseason that he’d like to see Christian McCaffrey get 25-30 touches per game. It’s also clear that first year offensive coordinator Norv Turner anticipates a running back who can tear up a defense on every down. Christian McCaffrey can run routes and run the ball out of the backfield. He is versatile in terms of style. Cam Newton can throw and he can run. Unfortunately for Newton, he’s now backed up by a patchwork version of an offensive line. DeMarcus Lawrence is a beast of a defensive end and is Dallas’ best defensive player. Last season Cheap Taylor Moton Jersey , Lawrence had a career high 14.5 sacks and is looking for another stellar season. Newton will be pressured and he could be stopped if Taylor Moton doesn’t play his part. In turn, CMC could be the game changer if things don’t go well in the air. With pressure in the air for both teams, there will be plenty of running on the field. Whoever can utilize their run game better will likely take the win.

The Phinsider Mailbag is back with our answers to question you left us yesterday. The Dolphins have lost two straight games Cheap Raekwon McMillan Jersey , one being blown out from the opening kickoff and one losing in a fourth-quarter collapse. That has lead to frustrating questions about the team, both within the team itself and within the fanbase. Once again, you brought some strong questions to the mailbag, and here are the answers to some of them. Many of the questions this week were similar, so I selected one that I thought would allow me to touch on most of the other questions. If you want to get your question into next week’s mailbag, watch for the request post on Wednesday. Or, you can always leave the question on Twitter using the #AskPhinsider hashtag so we can find it.Let’s get to the questions:Why are we still carrying 3 QB’s? How many other teams are carrying 3? Still a waste of space! - 39 is number 1Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers Cheap Kenyan Drake Jersey , Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.15.Sign up HERE to take our weekly Dolphins survey. When would Gase and/or Tanny officially be on the hot seat? Another loss? Several losses? Missed playoffs? Not this season at all, regardless of outcome? - GetOffMyFlipperSon!!!It depends on the rest of this year. If the team continues to collapse like this, maybe this is the year. But, last season was a lost season from the moment Ryan Tannehill was injured, so that really will not have an impact on what happens with this season. I could see a situation where the team decides Tannehill is not their quarterback and moves next year to find his replacement, but I do not think http://www.dolphinscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-vincent-taylor-jersey , short of a complete collapse this season, Adam Gase ends up on a hot seat. Will Ross sell the team after the season and leave this mess for some one else to try and fix . All new front office and coaches? - DolfanjoeNo.I understand that Sterrup is the better back up LT, but Young was active because he can play both sides, though he is better at RT. Is there truth to this? - jonmanI think that is really what happened there. Sam Young is the “swing tackle” for the team, able to move between left and right tackle as needed - except we discovered this week, that was not exactly true. There is always going to be a drop off when a starter is replaced, but it was severe on Sunday. I think a situation where they wanted one guy to be a bandaid for an emergency situation in a game over two positions came back to bite them when Young never got comfortable at the position. The Dolphins shed three of their largest contracts this offseason, including Suh, Landry, and Pouncey. That should have allowed us to acquire better depth across the entire team for this season. So how come EVERY SINGLE TIME we lose a starter to injury, there is a truly disastrous dropoff to the backups, whatever the position may be? Is it a problem with talent acquisition, or are the coaches failing to adequately “coach up” the backups? - Redwood_I do not think that is completely true. DeVante Parker’s been out most of the year Davon Godchaux Jersey , and it was not a disastrous drop off. MarQueis Gray and A.J. Derby have been the starters at tight end, and it has not been a disastrous drop off to Mike Gesicki. Reshad Jones out, Minkah Fitzpatrick to safety and Torry McTyer to cornerback has not been disastrous. Even with the loss of Josh Sitton, it was rough at first, but Ted Larsen has not been disastrous. The Dolphins have had some bad luck - especially when it is already 60 percent of the offensive line has missed time due to injury. Yes, there has been a drop off when a starter is replaced, but it is hard to have 53 starting caliber players on the team. The only thing I have for Georgia is in Atlanta at Rosita’s Pizza and Sports Pub. If you aren’t going to make the drive into Atlanta, I turn to the rest of our readers and ask them to help find a place in/closer to Woodstock than that. Matt Burke may be on the hot seat, but he is not expected to be removed as defensive coordinator anytime soon. The Dolphins defense got gashed by the Texans and Lions, before finally putting together a dominating performance against the Jets last Sunday.
