West Virginia, which opened the campaign with seven straight wins and 14 in the first 15 outings overall, has since dropped two of the last three. The latest defeat saw the team perform quite poorly at nationally-ranked Texas last weekend in a 77-50 final. Just four days earlier, the Mountaineers came out on the positive side of a 21-point victory versus Oklahoma, so theyve experienced both the good and the bad of blowouts in recent weeks. As for the Horned Frogs, theyve hit a serious snag in conference play already, losing four of the first five decisions. Aside from a 62-42 thrashing of Texas Tech at home last weekend, TCU has had little to cheer about in the month of January. Earlier this week the Frogs played their third Top-25 opponent this month, losing to Texas at home, 66-48. West Virginia has won all five previous meetings between the programs, including a 78-67 decision in Fort Worth earlier this month. In that contest Gary Browne scored 16 points for the visitors, followed by Devin Williams with 14 and eight rebounds while Juwan Staten was missing in action due to illness.
