Amundson was originally acquired by New York from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the three team trade that sent J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to Cleveland and Dion Waiters to Oklahoma City. He was waived before the team signed him to his first 10-day deal. Players can only be signed to a maximum of two 10-day contracts before they need to be signed for the rest of the season if a team wants to keep them.
