Everyone but him knew Vance Joseph would not figure it out when he was given a second season. The young coach wouldn’t make the turn toward success, no matter the assistant coaches or the quarterback at his disposal. The incompetence Joseph showed in the previous 5-11 season showed this mess wouldn’t get cleaned up. Denver is now 2-3 on the season, and have lost three-straight games. The Broncos are also now 1-11 in their last 12 road games, and 1-6 in their last eight in the East Coast. If that isn’t an indictment on the state of the franchise, I don’t know what is. If you think Denver will turn the tide, consider its coming schedule: two of its next three games are at home against the Los Angeles Rams and on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs.The assistant coaches and quarterback have changed, yet the same issues that have plagued the Broncos since Joseph became coach are still present and accounted for. The team is still horrible in situational football, unprepared, completely lost and incapable of making adjustments. Even worse, is his team wasn’t motivated and little effort was shown by most against the Jets. Remember when Joseph was billed as a “leader of men” when he was hired? But this isn’t Joseph’s fault. You really cannot make this stuff up.Elway needs to make the move right now. While he’s at, include Denver defensive coordinator Joe Woods. Heck, he might as well make the switch at quarterback to Chad Kelly as well. But in the meantime, fire Joseph and end this embarrassment.As for who replaces him — take anyone off the street at this point, they can’t do much worse. John Fox is available. Maybe Dan Reeves? In terms of the permanent solution, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo needs to be on the short list of names. In terms of Joseph, what more does Elway and the Broncos need to see?
