I’m just not up for it. This season has sucked. The fun has been thoroughly seeped from the marrow of this franchise, and this game is going to continue to suck.Just about everyone worth a damn is on injured reserve or inactive, and this offense was already unwatchable. Put Kenny Golladay on the sidelines, and I really don’t want to know what you get, but I guess we’re about to find out.I supposed one could get exciting about the Lions’ defense, but no A’Shawn Robinson, no Jamal Agnew, no Nevin Lawson, no Ezekiel Ansah, no Da’Shawn Hand. Have I made my point? But if you’re watching and commenting, more power to you. You’re a trooper. Consider this a virtual pat on your back. Go Lions. With a 32-21 final score, the Detroit Lions defeat the Miami Dolphins in a win that will hopefully be the last time I have to read the word Brocktober. But despite the sweltering heat, the hottest thing was on the field was the Lions offense. Ehhh??? Ehhhhh?????Quarterback Matthew Stafford tallied 217 passing yards, while the Lions wracked up 249 rushing yards.Let’s recap.First quarterDetroit’s opening drive at Hard Rock Stadium was uh, quite successful, with a six-play 64-yard drive for a touchdown. Defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois recorded his first sack with the Lions in the very first play of the game—in his hometown. Throughout the quarter, the Lions fed running back Kerryon Johnson several times for sizable gains. Off the bat, running back LaGarrette Blount was used for what he’s here for, recording a short-yardage gain of 4-yards for a first down.Some solid defensive plays http://www.authenticsdetroitlions.com/cheap-t.j.-lang-jersey , as Quandre Diggs makes a crucial tackle to stop a big play for Miami for a loss of one. In the very next play, cornerback Teez Tabor has a solid third down tackle, forcing the Dolphins to punt.Naturally, lots of talk about the heat. Worth noting— Tabor and Jarrad Davis are former Florida Gators so the heat never bothered them anyway (moms and dads that was for you.) The Lions eased guard TJ Lang back in, switching him out for Kenny Wiggins. He returns after suffering his sixth concussion during the Cowboys game on Sept. 30.The Lions lead the Dolphins to end the first quarter. Lions 7-0.Second quarterJohnson was having a h*ck of a game at this point—running and catching passes like an offensive Swiss army knife—after many complained he wasn’t being used enough. Just a few weeks after ending the Lions’ 100-yard rushing drought, the rookie so far was tallying seven carries for 106 yards. Reliable Matt Prater completed a 29-yard field. Lions 10-0. We then took our weekly shot--did you know Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw were childhood friends? DRINK.A costly penalty on cornerback Nevin Lawson, illegal hands to the face, that many had a hard time understanding upon replay, brought Dolphins to first-and-goal. Miami wide receiver Kenny Stills caught a touchdown pass, unfortunately plowing into a woman working security. Really hope she’s OK, that was a hard hit. As medical staff surround her, Stills walks over and hands her the ball. Lions-10, Dolphins-7Big scoring drive from the Lions as the offense looks... well, really good. Blount finds the gap and runs into the end zone untouched. Prater kick successful. Lions 17-7So far this game, Matthew Stafford was able to complete all of his passes with the exception of a deflection from Miami linebacker Kiko Alonso, who Johnson later sent to the ground with a stiff arm.End of the half, Lions 17-7Third quarterLions struggle just a bit to start off the second half. While wide receiver Kenny Golladay finally makes an appearance for a 22-yard reception, just a play or so later wide open in the end zone catches what would’ve been a touchdown pass but negated by a holding call on Frank Ragnow. Stafford completes a short pass to running back Ameer Abdullah for 12 yards. Tate misses a probable touchdown-pass on second down then an incomplete pass to Johnson on the on third, Lions must kick. Prater’s 28-yard field goal is goooood. Lions 20-7There were some medical issues for the Dolphins, but Stills and running back Frank Gore return to the game second half. Miami with a successful drive as cornerback Darius Slay makes an effort but is unable to catch Miami running back Kenyan Drake, who rushes for 54 yards and finds the end zone. The kick is good, Lions-20, Miami-14Stafford answers with a strong drive as the Lions stomp down the field, ending with the second touchdown of the day for Roberts. Detroit goes for 2 but unsuccessful, Lions 26-14For the first time since Nov. 28, 2013 against the Green Bay Packers.Third quarter ends with Jean Francois’ second sack of the game. Lions 26-14Fourth quarterThe Dolphins start the final quarter unable to reach the end zone, in a 7-play 18-yard drive that ends in a punt. A couple of successful plays between Johnson, Tate and Golladay brings the Lions to Miami’s 17 yard line, where Prater makes a 35-yard field goal, bringing the score to Lions-29, Miami-14.With Miami next in possession, outstanding defense from Slay, who blocks a pass to Stills in the end zone, eliciting a traditional Slay Finger Wag. But shortly after, Osweiler is able to find wide receiver Danny Amendola in the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Extra point, Lions-29 Color Rush Christian Jones Jersey , Miami-21.The Lions then respond with another scoring drive as Prater drives it down the middle, kicking the longest field goal of the year at 50 yards, bringing it to an 11-point game. Lions-32, Dolphins-21.Lions fans collectively inhaled as Osweiler slings it down the field to Stills, but Slay blocks it, as a holding penalty is called on Lawson. Stills limped off the field.Davis then sacked Osweiler the next play, as the Dolphins are unable to reach the end zone. Miami kicker Jason Sanders’ 46-yard attempt is wide left and misses. Stafford kneels to end the game, Lions-32, Dolphins-21.PregameIn about a half hour, the Detroit Lions will take on the Miami Dolphins. Inactives have been announced, including running back Theo Riddick, who missed playing time this week due to a knee injury. Ezekiel Ansah was officially downgraded to “Out” from his Week 1 shoulder injury. Other inactives include, Kerry Hyder Jr., Brandon Powell and newly signed corner back Lenzy Pipkins. However, guard T.J. Lang will return to the field, back from a concussion and running back Kerryon Johnson’s ankle injury against the Green Back Packers wasn’t enough to keep him out today—he’ll remain active for this game. Inactives for Miami include quarterback Ryan Tannehill with a shoulder injury and wide receiver DeVante Parker with a broken finger. Coming out of a bye week can go two ways. A team can look much better, leading to the narrative that the team had an extra week to prepare and get healthy. Or a team could come out poorly, leading announcers to proclaim that the team has had too much time off and need to shake off the rust.Of course, most of this is just us loving the sound of our own voice. The Detroit Lions are coming out of the bye week 2-3 and have looked wildly inconsistent thus far. In order to gain some faith from their fanbase they’re going to need to start piling up some wins. This week’s game proposes a challenge—not just because the Lions are on the road Youth Frank Ragnow Jersey , but because the Miami Dolphins may just be a good team. Having just taken down the Lions’ in-division rivals, the Chicago Bears, the Dolphins sit at a respectable 4-2 record.However, there are still question about their legitimacy. They have an overall negative point differential (thanks to a beatdown from the Patriots), Brock Osweiler will be their quarterback on Sunday, and aside from an odd amount of interceptions forced, the Dolphins don’t really do anything particularly well.
