MOSCOW http://www.cheapestwholesaleshoes.com/ , Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- No discrimination is foreseen during the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"The Games will be held in a full accordance to the Olympic Charter, with no discrimination on any criteria," Putin said during a ceremony of delivery presentations of diplomatic credentials in the Kremlin Palace.
Last June, Putin signed a controversial law banning the promotion of "non-traditional sexual relationships" to minors. The move sparked outcry abroad with many athletes and celebrities called to boycott the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Putin himself strongly denied that gay people faced any discrimination in Russia on official level.
He said over 6,000 athletes from 85 countries and regions and hundreds of thousand visitors were expected to Sochi, vowing that the Games would become a big festival of sport for entire world.
The president reminded that foreign athletes could arrive to Russia visa-free for the period of the Games and said the event would make nations closer, increase trust, strengthen friendship and partnership between peoples.
"We wish success to all participants of the Olympics. We are always able to value brilliant success of any athletes from any country," Putin said.
The 22nd Winter Olympics are slated for Feb. 7-23 with competition for 98 sets of medals. The Paralympics are to take place on March 7-16.
BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- China plans to use ethanol gasoline across the country by 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and National Energy Administration (NEA) said Wednesday.
"The plan was unveiled as the country is pushing the use of biofuel, which is renewable, applicable, environmental-friendly and tech-savvy. It is an ideal alternative to fossil fuel," a senior NEA official said.
More than 40 countries and regions consume about 600 million tonnes of ethanol fuel every year, accounting for around 60 percent of the world's annual gasoline use.
China is the world's third largest bioethanol producer and uses nearly 2.6 million tonnes a year. Gasoline blended with ethanol accounts for one-fifth of its annual gasoline consumption.
According to the plan, China aims to build an advanced liquid biofuel system and put into operation a demonstrative facility that will be able to produce 50,000 tonnes of cellulosic ethanol a year, by 2020.
China launched corn-to-ethanol pilot programs in 2004, as part of efforts to cut emissions and advance new energy.
