LONDON Women's Nike Air Max 97 UL '17 Triple White , July 29 (Xinhua) -- Laura Robson on Tuesday was named an ambassador for SportsAid, a UK charity that helps young British athletes become the next Olympic, Paralympic or world champions.
Robson, one of the most promising WTA Rising Stars, will work with the UK's most promising young female athletes.
"Seeing the work that SportsAid does and knowing the impact that sport can have on society, I want to play my part in empowering young women to become the champions of the future," Robson said of the announcement. "It's a privilege for me to be a role model, as an athlete and an Olympian, and it's important that I do everything I can to help young women to succeed in sports, focus on their strengths, and inspire others to do the same."
Robson will work directly with SportsAid athletes from a range of sports, including tennis and wheelchair tennis, by providing mentoring and support at workshops and other events - previously attended by the likes of Katherine Grainger, Karen Pickering, Keri-Anne Payne, Becky Adlington, Denise Lewis and other greats of British women's sport. She will also help to shine a spotlight on the young athletes' achievements to get them more recognition before they move up to the senior level.
"Laura is someone I know many of our athletes already look up to as a source of inspiration and the personal encouragement and guidance she is offering them will be a welcome and well-timed boost," Tim Lawler, SportsAid's Chief Executive, said of the British WTA Rising Star. "SportsAid is delighted to be working with her as we know the passion and expertise she brings will make a huge difference."
BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- China's drug regulator and police are busy tracking down more than 570 million yuan's (88 million U.S. dollars) worth of vaccines sold illegally in 18 provinces since 2011.
A mother and daughter suspected of selling the vaccines were arrested in Shandong Province last week.
The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) on Sunday gave pharmaceutical companies and distributors involved a deadline of March 25 to come forward with information about the whereabouts of vaccines.
Although produced by licensed manufacturers, the quality of the vaccines might be questionable as they were not transported and stored properly.
The CFDA urged any pharmaceutical companies and dealers who had done business with the suspects to inform local drug regulators or police about their transactions, for instance what kind of vaccines they sold to or bought from the suspects and where the vaccines went later.
Police obtained nearly 200 leads from the suspects concerning vaccine suppliers and buyers. These companies and individuals have been told they must come forward by March 23 or face "serious punishment."
The suspects allegedly purchased 25 types of vaccines from more than 100 pharmaceutical salesmen, both licensed and unlicensed, and sold them to illegal agents or even local disease control and prevention centers at high prices, according to Jinan police in Shandong.

BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Ask Shao Dongke what it means to be a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and he tells a story, not of famous revolutionaries, but of Liu Fang, his late grandmother.
Indifferent to fame or fortune, Liu cared deeply for those in need, Shao recalled. The former primary school teacher devoted half her life to special education.
"She was just an ordinary Party member, but she was a role model to me," he says, "One day I want to be like her."
Shao, 30, joined the CPC in 2013 while he was at Tsinghua University. He is one of the newer members of the 88.8-million-strong party. The world's largest political party is accepting more and more young members as it nears its 96th anniversary on July 1.
About 15.5 percent, the largest share, of members are 30 years old or younger. Unlike the older generation who regard Party membership as a sign of devotion to China's revolution, young Chinese born since the beginning of the reform and opening-up era hold a different opinion of their political identity.
RESPONSIBILITY
Shao regards Party membership as "a responsibility," a word mentioned by many young Party members when asked.
After graduation last year, the doctoral graduate of Public Administration could have chosen to work in the city, but he decided to follow in his grandma's footsteps: To work for the needy.
Instead he left Beijing and took up a position as deputy county mayor of Ninghua, a remote, impoverished county in east China's Fujian Province.
"My skills are needed here, at the local level. It gives me an opportunity to utilize what I have learned to the maximum level," he says.
Ninghua is one of the four starting points of the "Long March," the 10,000-km historic trek of Chinese communists between 1934 and 1935. The historic setting has not only given Shao insight into the hardships endured by the Chinese Red Army, but also the current state of the underdeveloped local economy.
Shao wants to help families shake off poverty. The young deputy mayor is in charge of trade and tourism, so he is drafting pro.
