CHICAGO Nike Air VaporMax Pas Cher , May 23 (Xinhua) -- Retail giant Target announced on Tuesday it reached an agreement to pay 18.5 million U.S. dollars to settle an investigation into its massive 2013 data breach.

According to the settlement, 47 states and the District of Columbia will close the investigation into Target's data breach fallout and they require Target to maintain and verify a higher level of data security in connection with its collection, maintenance and safeguarding of personal information.

"Today's settlement with Target establishes industry standards for companies that process payment cards and maintain secure information about their customers," Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in a news release.

Madigan and Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen led the investigation into the data breach, which gave hackers access to more than 41 million payment cards and contact information for more than 60 million customers who shopped at Target during November 2013.

According to the statement, the money will be divided up among 47 states and the District of Columbia which participate in the investigation, with California receiving the largest share of more than 1.4 million dollars.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has rejected a request by Brazil's football confederation (CBF) to allow ""video referees"" in the country's top domestic league.

The CBF had sought permission for decisions to be referred to officials with access to video replays.

According to local media reports, CBF president Marco Polo Del Nero wanted to adopt the technology for next year's Brazilian Serie A championship.

Despite its ruling, Zurich-based IFAB - empowered by world football's governing body FIFA to preside over the laws of the game - did not rule out adopting the initiative in the future.

""We inform that the CBF will be invited to participate in any future trials of this nature if IFAB agrees to conduct them,"" the body's secretary general, Lukas Brud, was quoted as saying by newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The first China-U.S. Comprehensive Economic Dialogue (CED) saw the world's two largest economies resolve a number of issues in their trade relationship while agreeing to work together to solve outstanding problems.

China and the United States discussed a one-year action plan for economic cooperation during the dialogue, which concluded on Wednesday, and agreed to cooperate in areas such as finance, trade, investment and global economic governance.

The two sides also agreed to address the trade imbalance between the two countries, highlighting the willingness to expand trade cooperation in services, in civilian high-tech sectors and in agriculture.

Given the difference in size between China and the United States in the services industry, it remains possible for both sides to exploit their own comparative advantages and complement each other, a Chinese delegate said Thursday in a statement, noting that "expanding bilateral trade in services can also promote balanced trading relations between the two sides."

"Despite a huge deficit in services trade with the United States, China nevertheless believed that trade in services between China and the United States is mutually beneficial," the statement said.

David Dollar, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and former official with the U.S. Treasury Department, believed a high-quality U.S.-China bilateral investment treaty would help U.S. export its services to China and build a foundation for a better bilateral trading relationship.

On the CED, the two countries agreed to create a more open investment environment in their respective territories.

There are growing calls from the U.S. and Chinese business communities to sign the investment treaty as soon as possible, Chinese Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao said Wednesday.

The two countries also pledged to relax export controls and protect intellectual property rights.
