SANAA cheap nike air max 2019 , Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 Yemeni soldiers and 31Houthi rebels were killed during clashes and airstrikes over thepast three days near the Yemeni-Saudi western border, a governmentmilitary source told Xinhua on Sunday.


The casualties took place when the government troops backed bywarplanes from a Saudi-led military coalition launched a majoroffensive against Houthi positions in the Red Sea port city of Mediand nearby Haradh district off Saudi southwestern border region ofJizan.


The attack, began Thursday, was launched by the Yemenigovernment forces backed by Saudi border artillery forces and morethan 20 air strikes against Houthi positions in al-Kadif areas insouthern Medi and in al-Hajawirah area and al-Majbar area insouthern Haradh, according to the source.


"Bodies of Houthis were still lying on some of the targetedpositions, while several other injured were taken as warprisoners," the source said on condition of anonymity as hedeclined to identify the numbers of Houthi prisoners.


He said the attack aimed to recapture Houthi-held areas andadvance towards the coasts north of the strategic Red Sea port cityof Hodeidah.


"The government troops reached and seized control over someHouthi-held positions, but slowed their advances because of heavilymined desert," he said, adding that many Houthi weapons depots werebombed by the warplanes.


A Houthi spokesman could not be reached for comment, but Houthiofficial media reported around 20 coalition's air strikes on Mediand Haradh over the past 72 hours and mentioned no casualties.


Also, Houthi-controlled Saba news agency reported late onSaturday that Houthi fighters fired two ballistic missiles on thecoalition troops in Medi and Haradh, "inflicting heavy losses uponthe troops."


Yemen's internationally-backed government, allied with theSaudi-led Arab military coalition, has for more than two years beenbattling Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels over control of thecountry.


The coalition began a military air campaign in March 2015 toroll back Houthi gains and reinstate exiled President Abd-RabbuMansour Hadi and his government to the power.


The coalition also imposed air and sea blockade to preventweapons from reaching Houthis, who had invaded the capital Sanaamilitarily and seized most of the northern Yemeni provinces.


UN statistics show more than 10,000 people, most of themcivilians, have been killed since the coalition intervened in theYemeni civil war that also displaced around three million.


The impoverished Arab country is also suffering the world'slargest cholera epidemic since April, with about 5,000 casesreported every day. Enditem




TEHRAN， Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will make an official visit to Iran seeking to strengthen ties with the Islamic republic in diverse areas， local media reported on Monday.


The Azerbaijani ambassador to Tehran， Bunyad Hasanov， made the announcement here in Tehran.


"Azerbaijan is keen to expand economic and trade cooperation with Iran，" he was quoted as saying.


The two countries have seen bilateral ties growing particularly over the past few years after President Hassan Rouhani took the office in 2013.


The bilateral trade in 2016 showed a 45 percent rise， reaching 320 million U.S. dollars.


In August last year， Rouhani and Aliyev met in Baku and urged to bolster cooperation in commerce， industry， energy and transportation.


The two sides signed six bilateral documents， including an intergovernmental protocol of intent on cooperation on the North-South international transport corridor project.


"The crucial goal of Iran and Azerbaijan is to develop a free trade，" Rouhani said， adding that "Iran is negotiating with the Eurasian Economic Union on custom tariffs， and is interested in reaching similar agreements with Azerbaijan in this regard as well."


He underlined cooperation in the banking sector， saying that "we try to enhance banking ties to a level which leads to the development of mutual trade and economic relations in all fields."
