LONDON -- With a dominant display of grass-court tennis, Roger Federer kept up his bid for a record eighth Wimbledon title by beating Tommy Robredo in straight sets Tuesday to reach the quarterfinals at the All England Club for the 12th time. Tim Hardaway Jersey . The fourth-seeded Federer, who has not dropped a set in the entire tournament, overwhelmed the Spaniard 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 in just over 90 minutes on No. 1 Court. He hit 11 aces, faced only one break point -- in the final game of the match -- and broke four times in a performance that showed he remains a real contender at the age of 32. "Its really nice the way Im playing," Federer said. "Im serving well, moving well, returning all right, so all the things are happening that need to be happening to go deep in this tournament again." Federer received a standing ovation after closing out the match with a serve-and-volley point, hitting a backhand volley that Robredo couldnt handle. The win avenged Federers straight-set loss to Robredo in their last meeting in the fourth round of the U.S. Open. Apart from that defeat, Federer has won all of his 11 matches against the Spaniard. Federer has lost only 32 games in four matches at the All England Club, the same number as defending champion Andy Murray. "Clearly Im very pleased with the first week, and here we go now into the quarters," Federer said. "Its always really exciting being so deep into a tournament and feeling you are closer to the finish line. "Ive played a lot of matches so things are exactly where I want them to be, but then again youre sort of only in the quarterfinals and thats when the tournament kind of really starts." Federers win set up an all-Swiss duel with Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka, who beat Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7), 6-3 to make it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time. Federer holds a 13-2 record against Wawrinka, though Wawrinka won their last encounter in the Monte Carlo final in April. In womens play, French Open runner-up Simona Halep breezed into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan. The third-seeded Romanian needed just 57 minutes to beat the 72nd-ranked Diyas, who was playing at Wimbledon for the first time. Her next opponent will be 2013 finalist Sabine Lisicki of Germany, who overcame shoulder trouble to defeat Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in two hours. Halep is the second Romanian woman to reach the quarterfinals at the All England Club, joining Virginia Ruzici, who made it to the final eight in 1978 and 1981. Ruzici is now Haleps manager. Halep, who has reached the quarterfinals at all three Grand Slams this year, is the only player among the top four seeds left in the draw. No. 1 Serena Williams, No. 2 Li Na and No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska are all out. The 19th-seeded Lisicki took an injury timeout while facing break point at 1-1 in the second set and was treated by a trainer on her right shoulder. After returning to the court, Lisicki saved the break point and held serve, then broke in the next game for a 3-1 lead. She was broken by the 72nd-ranked Shvedova while serving for the match at 5-3, but broke again in the next game to close it out. An emotional Lisicki celebrated by falling to her knees at the baseline and resting her forehead on the grass. Both players piled up more unforced errors than winners. Lisicki had 33 errors and 29 winners, while Shvedova had 34 and 18. Gerald Green Jersey .com) - Colorado forward P. James Johnson Jersey . Long snapper Patrick Mannelly announced Friday that he is retiring after a 16-year-career with the Bears, a span in which he played in a team record 245 games and snapped the ball 2,282 times.OAKLAND, Calif. -- Drew Pomeranz approached his fill-in start the same way he has every outing in relief this season. Maybe thats why he had so much more success than hes used to as a starter. Pomeranz pitched five scoreless innings for his second win in his past 20 starts and the Oakland Athletics salvaged a split of a doubleheader by beating the Seattle Mariners 2-0 in the nightcap Wednesday. "It felt a little weird at first," Pomeranz said. "I was trying to take the same mentality Ive had all year. Ive had some success doing that, staying in the stretch, keeping things as simple as I can out there. Just tried to treat it like I was coming into a game." The Mariners overcame a shaky start from ace Felix Hernandez to win the opener 6-4 on Justin Smoaks two-out single in the 10th inning. Despite the loss in the nightcap, Seattle heads home satisfied following a 7-2 road trip that also included stops in New York and Houston. "To come out of this series 7-2 is just an unbelievable trip in my opinion," manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Just phenomenal. I was very proud of the team and how they played. We put ourselves in a pretty good position." Yoenis Cespedes homered for the second straight day and Craig Gentry scored from first on a single by Jed Lowrie to help the As snap a six-game home losing streak. Pomeranz (2-1) was sharp in his first major league start since last July, allowing two hits and no walks in five innings with five strikeouts as he mixed in his change-up for the first time all season. Pomeranz won just one of his final 19 starts with Colorado, leading to an off-season trade to the As where he has pitched well in relief. But he stepped when the As needed another starter for the doubleheader and got the win. "I couldnt have expected any more than that," manager Bob Melvin aid. "Pretty fantastic for a guy who hasnt started a game for us in spring or this season." The As took the lead in the third. Gentry ran on the pitch from first base on a full count with two outs when Lowries popup fell between left fielder Cole Gillespie and shortstop Brad Miller for a hit. Cespedes added to the lead in the fourth with a solo homer off Erasmo Ramirez (1-4),, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day to make the start. Goran Dragic Jersey. Ramirez allowed two runs in six innings. Dan Otero, who allowed the go-ahead hit in the 10th inning of the opener, pitched three scoreless innings of relief and Jim Johnson finished the three-hitter for his second save and first since losing the closers job a month ago. "Thats what hes used to doing -- 1-2-3 today," Melvin said. "That was huge." This was just the second traditional doubleheader in Oakland in the past 16 years, with the other in 2011. The makeup game was necessary because a game was postponed April 4 when the field was unplayable after there was no tarp on it overnight. Hernandez failed to strike out a batter for the first time Aug. 19, 2008, against the Chicago White Sox, ending a streak of 179 straight starts with at least one strikeout. He allowed four runs -- three earned -- and matched his career worst against Oakland by giving up 11 hits in 6 1-3 innings. "No strikeouts, not a good breaking ball, not a good change-up," Hernandez said. "Thats what happens when you dont have good stuff." Brandon Moss hit an RBI triple that capped a three-run seventh against Hernandez, but the As could not hold a late lead as Robinson Cano tied the game with an RBI single off Luke Gregerson in the eighth. Smoak gave the Mariners the lead when he hit a chopper off the glove of leaping first baseman Daric Barton for an RBI single off Otero in the 10th after Ryan Cook (0-1) left the game with a strained right forearm. Cook will have an MRI on Thursday but does not believe the injury is serious. Yoervis Medina (2-1) pitched the ninth for the win, and Fernando Rodney pitched the 10th for his ninth save in 10 chances. Oakland centre fielder Coco Crisp strained his neck in the opener crashing into the wall to make a leaping catch. He is expected to miss a few days. NOTES: Corey Hart and Mike Zunino hit solo homers for the Mariners in the opener. ... Hisashi Iwakuma (1-0) takes the mound for the Mariners on Thursday when they open a four-game home series against Kansas City. ... Oakland begins a three-game series at home against Washington on Friday.
