DALLAS -- Tyler Seguin didnt realize he had become a part of Dallas Stars history until he looked up at the video board. Sandy Koufax Jersey . Thats when he learned he had tied a team record with his third hat trick of the season, joining Mike Modano and Bill Guerin. Seguin also had two assists Thursday night as the Stars beat the Vancouver Canucks 6-1. "Until I saw it on the board, I wasnt aware," he said. He was especially pleased to be in the company of Modano, whose No. 9 will be retired at the Stars game Saturday. "Its awesome," Seguin said. "I talk a lot with him when he comes to game. He tells me a couple of things about my game." Seguin, the team leader with 29 goals, has had two of the NHLs six five-point games this season. Jamie Benn, Alex Goligoski and Ryan Garbutt also scored for Dallas, which built a 5-0 lead. Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves, and Benn and Rich Peverley each had two assists. Seguin scored twice in the first period, and completed his hat trick at 12:53 of the third by squeezing the puck through a narrow opening past Canucks backup goalie Jacob Markstrom. Vancouvers Zac Dalpe scored at 18:15 of the second period. Dallas solidified its hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, improving to 9-3-2 in their last 14 goals. The fading Canucks, 11th in the West, dropped to 1-10-1 in their last 12 and fell four points behind Dallas. Vancouver coach John Tortorella said he didnt believe his team quit. "I still think there is the people in (the locker room) that can help us pull through this and were going to keep on going about it each day." Canucks goalie Eddie Lack stopped only 12 of 17 shots before Markstrom replaced him. Markstrom, acquired earlier this week in the trade that sent Roberto Luongo to Florida, had four saves. "It feels like were ready when the game starts, and then we kind of just collapsed today," Lack said. "For me, I kind of just have to look at myself tonight ... and have to be better." Benn put in a rebound 2:57 into the game after Lack had stopped Seguins backhand. Seguin scored the second goal on a power play. He took a pass from Alex Chiasson behind the Canucks defence and fired into the upper right corner from in front of the net. "That was a big message before tonights game, was our starts," Seguin said. The Stars had been outscored 6-0 in the first period of their previous three games. Even at 2-0, the lead appeared safe against a team that has scored only nine goals in its last eight games. Seguin made it 3-0 at 11:59, taking a pass off the boards from Peverley and turning and one-timing a shot between Lack and the right goal post. "The one he rips from the wall in the first period found a way to go in," Dallas coach Lindy Ruff said. "You could just say its never a bad play to get it on net. "His late one, for the hat trick, you wonder how it goes in, but it went in. (Vernon Fiddler) said on the bench, Those never go in for me. It is funny how sometimes goal scorers find ways to put them in the holes." The shots on goal, eight for each team, did not reflect Dallas domination of the first period. The Stars began the second on a 5-minute power play. Vancouvers Zack Kassian received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct for a hit on Brenden Dillon in front of the Canucks bench with 1:30 left in the first period. With that man advantage, Dallas took a 4-0 lead at 2:20 of the second. Ray Whitney passed from behind the goal line to defenceman Goligoski low in the right faceoff circle. He shot into the near side of the net. Seguin assisted on the goal. At 12:08, Goligoski passed across to Garbutt on the left side, and his goal increased the lead to 5-0. Goligoski said, "We came in more focused. We knew these guys have had a tough time scoring goals, so we needed to bury a few early." Dalpe scored a power-play goal late in the period to get the Canucks on the board with a shot that hit Lehtonen as he tried to recover his position. The teams again were tied in shots, with nine each. Vancouver outshot Dallas 16-5 in the third period. NOTES: Dillon left the ice after Kassians hit, but returned for the second period. ... Lack, starting for the Canucks for the fifth consecutive game, had allowed 1.25 goals per game for the first four. Yasmani Grandal Jersey . With timely hitting and good pitching, the Marlins are one win away from sweeping the slumping Houston Astros.OKLAHOMA CITY -- The showdown between the NBAs top two scorers turned out to be a mismatch. Oklahoma Citys Kevin Durant outscored New Yorks Carmelo Anthony 41-15, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the New York Knicks 112-100 on Sunday. Durant, the leagues leading scorer, also had 10 rebounds and nine assists. Anthony, the leagues No. 2 scorer, had 15 points on 5-for-19 shooting for the Knicks. Thunder coach Scott Brooks took Durant out of the game with 1:24 remaining, leaving Durant short of a rare 40-point triple-double by a single assist. "I got on Serge (Ibaka)," Durant said, laughing. "He missed a dunk and he passed up a shot." Durant also was largely responsible for guarding Anthony. "He missed some shots that he normally makes," Durant said. "I just tried to play as strong as I can, contest some shots and not get discouraged when he hits them because he makes tough shots and hes a guy that can get hot. I just try to rely on my teammates, and they did a great job of helping me out, building a wall behind me, and I just tried to play as hard as I can." Reggie Jackson had 19 points and six assists and Ibaka had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Thunder, who were coming off a 103-102 loss to struggling Orlando on Friday night. Raymond Felton and Amare Stoudemire each scored 16 points for the Knicks, who have lost four of five. The Thunder made 12 3-pointers and shot 55 per cent overall. New York cut Oklahoma Citys lead to 86-80 early in the fourth quarter on a dunk by Jeremy Tyler, but Oklahoma City pulled away. A 3-pointer by Durant pushed Oklahoma Citys lead to 95-86. "You can double him but hes a willing passer now and hes finding people all over the place. He was good tonight, real good," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. Oklahoma City led 97-88 with 5:34 remaining when Ibaka was issued a technical foul. Anthony made the free throw, but the Knicks didnt get anything out of the possession. The Thunder took control from there as a long jumper by Ibaka put Oklahoma City ahead 105-90. Durant scored his 40th point on a free throw with 1:41 remaining. NOTES: Knicks guard Metta World Peace, who as Ron Artest attacked a fan in the stands in 2004 while playing for Indiana, said Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart can learn from his incident with a fan on Saturday night. Smart shoved Texas Tech superfan Jeff Orr late in the game. "I think that emotion and that fire could be directed towards winning on the court instead of directed other ways," World Peace said. ... The Thunder shot 60 per cent in the first half. ... Anthony played the late minutes of the game with five fouls.
