They overreact to one HUGE signing and one sad! departure. Rarely do they take in account the entire offseason, or even the resources each team currently has. To give a more accurate representation of what’s going on and where these teams currently stand, I will not equivocate or give into the yank of heartstrings the NFL offseason brings. Instead, here’s where all 32 teams rank when taking account their 2019 offseason, and the resources they have available. 32.) Miami Dolphins—Record: 7-9. Point Differential: -114 (30). DVOA: -16.5% (27). Previously 25th.Departures: Andre Branch (DE), Ted Larsen (LG), Danny Amendola (WR), Josh Sitton (LG), Ryan Tannehill (QB), Ja’Wuan James (OT), Cameron Wake (EDGE), Brandon Bolden (RB), Frank Gore (RB).Additions: Dwayne Allen (TE), Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB), Clive Walford (TE), Eric Rowe (CB), Chris Reed (OG).Cap Space: $28,998,715Draft Picks: 1 (13), 2 (48), 3 (78), 4 (116), 5 (151), 7 (233, 234).If it wasn’t official, signing Ryan Fitzpatrick to start at quarterback this season dried the blood, and confirmed that the Dolphins aren’t having anything to do with 2019. The blah team that won games by beating bad teams by one score finally decided to start over again. They traded Ryan Tannehill. They let their expensive veterans go bye-bye. They’re going to trade Robert Quinn for like a fourth round pick. They didn’t add much of anything at all. Miami currently has $99 million in cap space entering 2020. They’ll have to decide if they want to resign Xavien Howard or Laremy Tunsil, but that’s it. This is a canvas, a sheet of paper without the lines. 31.) Cincinnati Bengals—Record: 6-10. Point Differential: -87 (26). DVOA: -9.7% (23). Previously 26th.Departures: Marvin Lewis (HC), Bill Lazor (OC), Vontaze Burfict (LB), Jake Fisher (TE), Cedric Ogbuhei (OT).Additions: Zac Taylor (HC), Brian Callahan (OC), Lou Anarumo (DC), B.W. Webb (CB), John Miller (RG), Darqueze Denard (CB).Cap Space: $27 Tytus Howard Houston Texans Jersey ,871,964Draft Picks: 1 (11), 2 (42), 3 (72), 4 (110), 5 (149), 6 (183, 198, 210, 211, 213), 7 (223).The Bengals are a crappy team who didn’t do anything to get better. Typically this means that next season they’ll once again be a crappy team. Their linebacker core is one of the league’s worst, there’s not much to like on their offensive line, and their quarterback is Andy Dalton, who needs plenty of time. I could see them trading A.J. Green, moving on from Dalton next season, and zipping into a new stretch of skin. 30.) Washington Redskins—Record: 7-9. Point Differential: -78 (25). DVOA: -18.6% (29). Previously 23rd.Departures: Preston Smith (OLB), Ty Nsekhe (OT), HaHa Clinton-Dix (S), Maurice Harris (WR).Additions: Case Keenum (QB), Landon Collins (S), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (CB), Ereck Flowers (OT).Cap Space: $12,701,240Draft Picks: 1 (15), 2 (46), 3 (76, 96), 5 (153, 173), 6 (206), 7 (227, 253).Aside from Kirk Cousins, Washington destroys quarterbacks. Robert Griffin III hobbled around the soupy lithosphere like a shotgun blasted deer wobbling toward the light in the NFL Divisional Round. Alex Smith’s leg shattered. Colt McCoy lasted one game as his replacement. Enter the dragon Case KEEENUUUM. This is the worst situation for him to be in. This franchise’s legacy, plus his career of taking self-mutilating sacks is horrifying. I can’t watch, but I can’t look away. KEENUUUM isn’t the answer here. They don’t have the downfield passing options he needs, and even last year, his deep passing regressed and his interception rate went up. They still don’t have a backup quarterback. Washington’s defense was over inflated by turnovers. It’s not a defense that was Landon Collins away. 30th is probably unfair. They’ll win like 6 games. I’m just overemotional. 29.) New York Giants—Record: 5-11. Point Differential: -43 (22). DVOA: 0.0.% (16). Previously 22nd.Departures: Connor Barwin (EDGE), Johnathan Stewart (RB) Vyncint Smith Jersey , Olivier Vernon (EDGE), Odell Beckham Jr. (WR), Landon Collins (S), Jamon Brown (OG), B.W. He’s going to throw so many drag routes for seven yards while an exacberated Saquon Barkley carries ten defenders for three yards. Compton (OG), George Iloka (S), Marcus Sherels (CB).Additions: Kevin Stefaniski (OC), Shamar Stephen (OG), Josh Klike (OG).Cap Space: $5,181,531Draft Picks: 1 (18), 2 (50), 3 (81), 4 (120), 6 (190, 209) Jordan Thomas Jersey , 7 (247, 250).Kirk Cousins has a cap hit of $29 million this year. That’s the only thing that matters. They couldn’t improve their roster because they are paying him this exorbitant amount. When a quarterback is paid that much he has to make his entire offense better. Cousins didn’t do this last season. He couldn’t deal with the pass rush. All he did was check down, and became too much of a coward to put the ball downfield. 17.) Carolina Panthers—Record: 7-9. Point Differential: -6 (16). DVOA: 0.5.% (14). Previously 16th.Departures: Ryan Kalil (C), Julius Peppers (EDGE), Ben Jacobs (LB), Captain Munnerlyn (CB), Matt Kalil (OT), Thomas Davis (LB), Devin Funchess (WR), David Mayo (LB), Chandler Catanzaro (K), Kenjon Barner (RB).Additions: Matt Paradis (C), Bruce Irvin (EDGE).Cap Space: $3,852,948Draft Picks: 1 (16), 2 (47), 3 (77, 100), 4 (115), 5 (154), 6 (187).Carolina was going to be a Wildcard team until Newton’s inability to throw the ball over his head ruined their season. This is the best collection of offensive talent he’s had. The defense wasn’t able to really add pass rushing talent, it will be interesting to see if Irvin brings it every down, but even if they can’t get to the quarterback again, this offense will be ridiculous enough to win on their own if Newton is healthy.
