Part of the Archive Pack, adidas Originals is bringing back 1988's Adidas Superstar Men's/Women's, a running model associated with marathon runner Rob de Castella. Once one of the top distance models of adidas' storied running range, the shoe features high quality materials such as lightweight Clarino synthetic suede and different densities of foam in the midsole to aid the natural foot strike of the wearer. The Marathon 88 took the tech running elements of the time and developed the classic Marathon silhouette into a streamlined running shoe for the runner elite.
The Adidas Superstar Sneaker just emerged from the Three Stripes archives after a long hiatus. Turns out the reason we have another chance to enjoy this classic runner is because a former adidas technical director stumbled upon a pair while preparing to move into a new home. Three new colorways will commemorate some of the great marathon cities, each featuring ‘42.195’ branding, which is the number of kilometers equivalent to 26.2 miles. The Berlin edition borrows from the German capital’s blue skies, the Chicago pair uses silver in tribute to the Windy City’s skyscrapers, and New York goes for grey, honoring the Verrazano Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Staten Island.
adidas’ Never Made project has birthed many a silhouette that fuses the label’s vintage uppers with its equally large inventory of sole units, giving way to a series of sole swapped models that breathe fresh life into what has become all too familiar. Unveiled only recently and further established through its HYPEFEST appearance, the German brand’s dedication to creating something new is sure to lead to a long line of hybrids later in the year.
One new arrival, the Adidas Superstar on Sale , fuses the luxe suede and mesh finishings of the OG Marathon runner with the more substantial bottom of the I-5923. While the blue colorway released originally in the initial set, adidas has added to the vintage/modern fusion with an equally strong red and black palette.
The Buy Adidas Superstar, which released back in 1979, was adidas’ first trail shoe. Set to kick off 2019, are two new ladies-only colorways of the Marathon Tech – an updated version of the vintage runner. Arriving in a Legend Purple/Cloud White-Active Purple and Ecru Tint/Cloud White-Clear Brown color schemes. The shoe has a futuristic spin on that classic vintage style by pairing the archival upper with a Boost midsole. Its upper comes constructed in a mix of suede and mesh for a breathable feel and textured look.
