Dak Prescott Jersey , Saints running back Alvin Kamara absorbed a wicked helmet-to-helmet hit from Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith on Thursday night. Kamara stumbled while trying to get up, seemingly stunned by the blow.He later returned to the game. In between, it wasn’t clear during the broadcast what precisely occurred.According to the NFL, Kamara had a concussion evaluation, both in the sideline tent and later in the locker room. Obviously, Kamara was cleared to return.TV camera showed him with smelling salts not long after the hit, but there was little if any discussion about whether and to what extent he was officially examined for a brain injury. The process was initiated by the sideline medical staff, including the Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant. It’s unclear how long the overall process of clearing Kamara required, or when it officially began. The hit occurred with just under 10 minutes to play. The image of Kamara with smelling salts appeared with just under nine minutes left in the game. He was back on the field when the Saints next gained possession, with 2:35 remaining in the game.Reactions to the Amari Cooper trade & what it means going forward for the Dallas Cowboys The Cowboys made a trade in hopes of adding a potential “wide receiver one” after admitting that their committee approach has been a failure up to this point. Amari Cooper is now a Dallas Cowboy. Did the Cowboys pay too much or is a first-round pick the price of business? Are the Cowboys a better team now with Cooper in the fold? There are a ton of opinions out there about this trade but we wanted to see what the front page writers here at BTB had to say.Connor LivesayThe more I had time to reflect on the Amari Cooper trade the more I was okay with it. I’ve been very critical of this teams inability to use resources in the trade market and free agency. While this move does have some sense of desperation to it, the Cowboys front office finally was able to admit that it made a mistake and came out and attempted to fix it. Did they over pay? Probably so, but I can’t kill the front office for going all in to try and add a young Xavier Woods Color Rush Jersey , talented player, at a position of need with the division for the taking. The good thing about this trade is the Cowboys, without a doubt, upgraded at a position that desperately needed it. Their hope is that Cooper is able to help them win enough games to take them out of the first half of the first-round and soften the blow just a little bit on their compensation.DannyPhantomI really like Amari Cooper as a receiver and believe he will be a nice asset for the offense. It’s hard not to be excited about what he’ll bring to this team. But I do not like this trade. I’m just not a fan of surrendering precious draft capital such as a Day 1 pick. And that feeling is exacerbated by the fact that Dallas had done a real good job collecting valuable pieces to their roster with their first-round investments. Now, could Cooper be one of those valuable pieces? Maybe. The front office certainly believes so or else they wouldn’t have pulled the trigger on the deal. They are very stingy with their draft capital, so that should speak to how they feel about Cooper. Another thing that bothers me about the deal is the financials involved. The Cowboys will have Amari under contract next season for his fifth-year option price of $13 millon, but he’ll be a free agent in 2020. So will Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott (although Dallas will likely pick up Zeke’s fifth-year option as well). That’s a lot of money they’ll have to shell out very soon, whereas that first-round pick will be cap friendly for the next five years. Amari Cooper may very well be a nice add, but he’s going to really have to ball out to make this a good deal for the Cowboys.Michael StrawnMy opinion is that all the hot takes and instant analysis carry about as much weight as instant draft grades: none. There are sound, valid arguments for why this is a good move and equally sound arguments for why it’s a bad move. Reasonable people can disagree about this. Only time will tell us the truth - just like the a draft.I do understand the decision-making. Specifically the team has to find out if Dak Prescott is the long-term answer at QB. The reality is prior to acquiring Amari Cooper the surrounding talent was so poor the team couldn’t make a legitimate evaluation of Prescott. Hopefully now they’ll be able to.Michael SisemoreI think the Cowboys front office gets killed either way because people want them to go after big talents but think they can pay peanuts for it. For example, “why not toss out a fifth for Josh Gordon like the Patriots?” The answer is because Gordon is literally on his last leg in the NFL and the Cowboys are not tempting fate anymore with that nonsense. The Cowboys wanted Amari Cooper, a 24-year old receiver with NFL experience and numbers that suggest he can do it at a high-level. Former trades of Cowboys past for Roy Williams or Joey Galloway have no bearing here because neither were the caliber of “WR1” potential that Cooper is. For example https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Larry-Allen-Jersey , the Cowboys went after Roy Williams, a receiver who’s injury history showed that he couldn’t separate any longer. Joey Galloway got hurt in his first season with the Cowboys and when he returned, he didn’t get Troy Aikman to be his quarterback as planned. Like my colleague, Michael Strawn, I like the trade for the sure fact that it gives them a chance to evaluate Dak Prescott and these coaches too. Who knows if that means they will be able to do enough to earn a postseason berth but the Cowboys got better with this trade. Dave Halprin was on board with drafting Calvin Ridley before the 2018 draft, and I was on board for that or D.J. Moore because this offense needs a receiver that can make plays when his number is called. At the very least, the Cowboys got a guy that commands some respect around NFL circles, the hope now is that they can feed him the ball enough to keep defenses on their toes. Tom RyleWe can all weigh in on this, but the only thing that matters is what happens on the field. In a few games, and certainly by the end of the season, we will have some idea if this was a worthwhile trade. If Cooper helps the offense perform better, and maybe even make a run at getting into the playoffs Bob Lilly Jersey , then it was worth it. If not, well, we’ll see how it affects the team in the next few years.Meanwhile, there is a certain logic to this, if the reports that the Cowboys were locking in on a wide receiver in the first round next year are accurate. First round WRs have a notoriously high bust rate, whereas Cooper had two excellent seasons to start his career, and there is certainly reason to believe it was his situation and not him that was the primary cause of the dropoff last season and so far this year. In effect, the Cowboys just made their first selection of 2019, and got a 24 year old receiver with experience and talent. It all depends on if the scouting department got this right. But again, we won’t know until we see him on the field, see if Dak can get him the ball, and if Linehan can utilize him well. We will start to find out something in a couple of weeks.David HowmanLooking at Amari Cooper’s body of work Jay Novacek Color Rush Jersey , he’s an excellent route runner and does several other things well that should help Dak Prescott out. He’s really good at creating separation early which should help Dak get the ball out quicker, and he’s willing to adjust to the throw to make sure he catches it, which bailed out Derek Carr many times and should help Dak too. Based on that, I like this trade.I could end up loving this trade if Cooper is integrated into the offense properly and he fixes the passing game and takes us to the playoffs, which would seriously mitigate the loss of a 1st rounder. My only issue with the trade is I don’t trust Linehan to properly incorporate Cooper and that could be what ruins this, but as of now I like the trade and have hope for this team because of it.Cole PattersonI was shocked that the Cowboys made the move for Amari Cooper. I honestly thought it was a parody account when I first saw the tweet, because I was not expecting the front office to make such an aggressive move. It’s a good thing that they are smart enough to admit when they mistakes and know that something had to change with the offense. The bye week gave them a perfect opportunity to do just that. While I really didn’t like giving up a first-round pick, I understand the logic between not being sold on the top-end talent at wide receiver in the upcoming draft class and with Philly also offering a second-round pick. (That would have been a gut-punch to the Cowboys had the Raiders dealt Cooper to their divisional rival.)Cooper gives Dak a go-to threat to go along with the promising Michael Gallup and the reliable Cole Beasley. The move signified that the Cowboys know the NFC East is winnable while also showing confidence in their quarterback.

be in questionWith the Jacksonville Jaguars parting ways with Dante Fowler Jr. A. J. Cann Jersey , it’s safe to say he’s another case of the team’s struggles to hit on first-round picks. In fact, with the fourth-year pass rusher now off the team, only four of the six first-round selections Dave Caldwell has made since becoming the team’s general manager remain on the team. And when evaluating those four, it still isn’t pretty. What can Jaguars fans expect out of Landry Jones?Earlier today, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they signed former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Landry Jones to the active roster. ESPN’s Adam Schefter later clarified that the move was insurance for Blake Bortles, who mysteriously has a left shoulder injury that he sustained from this past weekend’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in London. Nevertheless, Jaguars fans are intrigued by the team making a move at what has been the most tumultuous position on the roster this season.3 Jaguars players to watch in the second half of the seasonThe first half of the 2018 NFL season was as disappointing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Great expectations were doused with injuries and a lack of consistency on both offense and defense. The five losses the team suffered were damaging to the locker room and the core of the franchise. A herculean effort in the final eight games by the entire 53-man roster will be crucial for this team, led by head coach Doug Marrone, to make a charge to the postseason. The Jaguars are down https://www.jaguarsfanstore.com/Marqise-Lee-Jersey , but not out.And in other Jaguars news ...ESPN thinks the Jaguars should deal a late round draft pick for Tyrod Taylor. The Jaguars haven’t trusted their offensive line to run the ball recently and it’s killing the offense. Is there a disconnect between this team’s front office and coaching staff?Yahoo Sports debates whether the Jaguars or Rams were winners in the Dante Fowler, Jr. trade. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up veteran running back Jamaal Charles on Tuesday, filling a hole on the roster when Corey Grant was added to injured reserve. If the Jaguars were not going to give up any capital to add a back to the roster while Leonard Fournette continues to miss time, Charles was probably the best case scenario what you were going to find on the free agent market. The big question is, how much of a role will Charles really play in the Jaguars offense?“I don’t know of the situation right now, but I’m definitely getting my mind prepared for whatever. [I am] up for the challenge,” Charles said on Wednesday when asked about how many carries he’s expecting. “I’m here, I’m in uniform and whatever coach asks me to do 鈥?I’m just here to contribute, to make plays and win.”I don’t know how many carries Charles is going to get on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys Telvin Smith Color Rush Jersey , but I do think he’s going to factor into the offense quite a bit. The big benefit that Charles brings to the table that the Jaguars were missing out with Fournette on the shelf is that you can play him on every down and he’s very similar in style to TJ Yeldon.Charles is adequate in pass protection, he can catch out the backfield and he can run between the tackles. That means the Jaguars offensive game plan and formations shouldn’t change much when Yeldon has to come off the field for a sideline. Unlike with Grant, you can do all of the same things in a single back set with some level of effectiveness with Charles without completely tipping your hand. How much Charles has left in the tank, I don’t know, but he was adequate for the Denver Broncos last season and if the Jaguars can just get that out of him until Fournette is back, it’s a good signing.

will face Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals has nothing to do with wins and losses https://www.thechiefsfanshop.com/Terrance-Smith-Jersey , but rather their well being as human beings.I’m of course talking about Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who is coming off another instance in which he performed a dangerous and dirty play on an opposing player. Watch Burfict’s forearm-to-helmet hit on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown from last week below:The hit came just two games into Burfict’s return from a four-game suspension for violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. It’s unclear right now whether the NFL plans to fine Burfict. It wouldn’t be the first time.Asked about Burfict on Friday afternoon, the Chiefs actually had some nice things to say about the Bengals linebacker.“This is the NFL,” ight end Travis Kelce explained. “The entire week last week (against the Patriots) I was getting tripped at the line of scrimmage. You got to be aware on the football field at all times. It’s grown men with pads and a reckless abandon, so I don’t think this week is any different. I know [Burfict] personally. I don’t think he’s out for anybody right now—it’s just the way he plays the game, you know what I mean? Either you got a guy like that on your team or you don’t.”Kelce continued.“He’s just like any other guy that I’ve played against,” he said. “It’s always been a respect type of thing. I’ve seen him on the field, off the field. He seems as personable as anybody else. He doesn’t seem like he has hate out here for somebody else. I think he’s just a very physical football player. I’m not defending the guy. I’m not saying that he’s not out here—I don’t frankly know. I just know that everything with me and him has been cool.”Tyreek Hill said he wished Burfict were a Chief.“I love him as a player,” Hill said. “I feel like if I was a D-coordinator and I had to choose any linebacker in the NFL, I would definitely choose him. He’s definitely that hard-nosed, solid tackler, just dirty and grimy linebacker that I like...I’m not going to lie. Some of the stuff he do—it’s kind of over the border, but as a player, I like him as a player.”I respect Kelce and Hill as players—they are two of the most talented athletes I have ever had the privilege to cover—but I strongly disagree with them here. After the play against Brown, Burfict pointed to Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and yelled, “You’re next!” according to the NFL Network.Burfict is the NFL’s single-player equivalent to the NFL’s infamous bounty-fund program, and it’s just a matter of time until he delivers a dirty blow that ends a career.Perhaps the tone of Hill and Kelce will change if that player happens to be a Chief on Sunday night. The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos, 30-23 Allen Bailey Color Rush Jersey , on Sunday to improve to 7-1 on the season. Here are the winners and losers from Sunday’s game:WinnersPhoto by Jamie Squire/Getty ImagesI believe it is already safe to call Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes elite, and though I realize that is still a subjective take, an objective fact is that Mahomes is officially among elite company after his four touchdowns Sunday make it 26 total on the season. Per NFL Research, four players in history have 26 touchdowns or more through the first eight games of the season: Mahomes, Tom Brady (30, 2007) and Peyton Manning (29, 2013; 26, 2004). Mahomes was 24 of 34 for 303 yards, four touchdowns and just one interception Sunday against the Broncos.Wide receiver Sammy Watkins had his best game since joining the Kansas City Chiefs, catching eight passes on nine targets for 107 yards and two touchdowns. It was the fifth multi-touchdown game of Watkins’ career and his first since Week 3 of 2017 as a Los Angeles Ram.Photo by Peter Aiken/Getty ImagesTight end Travis Kelce overcame some early drops, including one that would have been for a touchdown, to catch six passes for 79 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Broncos. It was a Kelce’s fourth touchdown of the season. Kelce has recorded at least one reception in 71 straight games, per the Chiefs’ public relations staff.Running back Kareem Hunt is making his case to be included in the conversation for the league’s top running back. He may not have the stats of the Rams’ Todd Gurley, but the elusiveness he showcased again on Sunday is special. Hunt had 16 carries for 50 yards and five catches for 36 yards and a touchdown on the day. Hunt quietly has 10 total touchdowns (five rushing, five receiving) on the season. Similar to referees, it is usually a good sign when you don’t particularly notice offensive linemen—and I didn’t recall noticing any miscues with Austin Reiter, the third-string center making his second career start on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Another OL note—outside linebacker Von Miller recorded a half-sack Sunday, and former Chief Geoff Schwartz tweeted “Damn ... only took almost five games for Miller to beat Mitch.” The job Mitch Schwartz has consistently done against Miller https://www.thechiefsfanshop.com/Cameron-Erving-Jersey , one of the best pass rushers in the game, always deserves a spot in the winners’ section.Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty ImagesThe Chiefs defense wasn’t all pretty—the unit gave up 411 yards on Sunday—but the unit had some bright spots. Outside linebacker Dee Ford came into the game with a share of the league lead (36) for hurries, and he reached quarterback Case Keenum on three separate occasions Sunday. On two of the sacks, Ford forced a fumble. Ford now has a team-leading 8.0 sacks on the season.Rookie outside linebacker Breeland Speaks also recorded a sack, as did defensive lineman Chris Jones. Speaks and Jones officially tallied two quarterback hits apiece. Kendall Fuller had an interception on a flea-flicker attempt. The Broncos’ two-headed running back monster of Phillip Lindsay and Devontae Booker gave the Chiefs run defense problems all game long. Led by Lindsay’s 95 yards, the two combined for 27 carries for 173 yards and a touchdown in the game. LosersMark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsBroncos defensive end Derek Wolfe, per The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala: “They beat us by a total of 10 points. I’m tired of losing, especially in Kansas City. I really hate Kansas City. really hate it. I don’t like coming here. I don’t like anything about them except for Travis (Kelce). Travis is the only one I like over there.” Yikes. The Chiefs’ discipline, when it came to taking penalties, was not on display at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. The Chiefs totaled seven penalties for 50 yards, including four false start penalties (at home). Chris Conley had two false start penalties and right guard Andrew Wylie had one on a crucial fourth-and-goal at the 1. The Wylie penalty may have cost the Chiefs three points. Penalties may not have cost the Chiefs the game against the Broncos, but the Chiefs will need to be more disciplined to beat better teams in the league—such as the Los Angeles Rams or New England Patriots.Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY SportsChiefs safety Ron Parker struggled in the first half—giving up a big play to Emmanuel Sanders. He and Orlando Scandrick also gave up a 24-yard touchdown to some guy named Tim Patrick. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs make a move to beef of the secondary before the Tuesday trade deadline.I unfortunately don’t think that Vance Joseph will be the head coach of the Denver Broncos the next time the Chiefs see them. Joseph is now 0-4 against Kansas City and 8-16 overall asDenver’s head coach.Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY SportsSimilarly, I’m not sure Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who had just three catches on seven targets for 30 yards Sunday—makes it through the trade deadline. Thomas is a shadow of his former self and appears to be in need of a change of scenery. The other side of Ford’s monster day is that of Broncos left tackle Garrett Boles, who didn’t look like he belonged on the same field as Ford. On the other side of the ball, cornerback Bradley Roby was hardly capable of guarding Watkins. The Broncos mentality has been broken by the Chiefs. Denver cornerback Chris Harris Jr. called this a game with season-changing potential prior to Sunday. Here was his quote after the game: “This was one of the hardest losses that I have ever had in the regular season. You fight so hard and do whatever you can to win and it’s really upsetting.” And the crazy thing is the Chiefs didn’t even play all that well. Great teams find a way to win and that’s what the Chiefs are.Safety Eric Berry didn’t suit up for Chiefs-Broncos, meaning he officially missed the first half of the season and should have been on injured reserve instead of taking up a roster spot.

  • I certainly didn’t see that coming.Datum29.11.2018 02:50

Though maybe I should have when Von Miller promised a Thursday Night Football beatdown earlier this week. It was great to see the Denver Broncos respond and give life to Miller’s proclamation Youth Connor McGovern Jersey , literally, in a 45-10 ass-kicking of the Arizona Cardinals in Phoenix. It was even better to see the Broncos offense show some creativity and get Case Keenum out of the pocket. But make no mistake about it – the Cardinals are a putrid football team, and that is underselling it. And while Denver looked great, it’s right to question how credible this win really is. Was this just a desert mirage giving us false hope that this team is finding its way out of a football wasteland? Nevertheless, at least the Broncos (3-4) ended their four-game losing streak and have a bit of confidence on their mini bye before the redux with the Kansas City Chiefs. Winners Emmanuel Sanders We know that Denver’s receiver is a playmaker, we just haven’t seen it with his arm. Kudos to the Broncos offensive coaches for the creativity on his 28-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton. It was the first-career touchdown pass for Sanders, who also had a 64-yard touchdown reception. Sanders finished with six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, and 1-for-1 passing for 28 yards and a touchdown. Sanders is the first Denver player since John Elway on Sept. 7, 1986, and the fourth in team history, to finish with a touchdown catch and pass in the same game. Sanders also is the first receiver in Broncos history to have a touchdown via catch, pass and run, and the ninth player overall.Courtland Sutton Denver’s rookie continues to impress. Not only did he catch Sanders’ first touchdown pass, he drew another pass interference penalty in the end zone. And had Keenum not underthrown Sutton on the Broncos’ sideline, he would have had another touchdown. Chris Harris Jr. Harris got his first pick-six since 2015, and it was the second of the game for Denver’s defense. It doesn’t matter that it was against a rookie quarterback and a terrible offense, the fact the Broncos created turnovers and returned them for touchdowns is a beautiful sight. Todd Davis Speaking of pick-sixes, Denver’s middle linebacker had the first of the game for the first touchdown of the game. It was Davis’ first career interception and touchdown. What was even better to see is him make a few tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Given how bad the run defense has been the last two weeks, it was good to see the Broncos do in fact have middle linebackers on the field.Phillip Lindsay There really is nothing left to say about this young man. It’s just fun to watch this play out like it is for the Broncos rookie and Colorado boy. What makes it even better is he’s doing it in Terrell Davis’ No. 30. Lindsay’s 28-yard touchdown run was the latest highlight-reel play ofhis rookie season. The defense Not only did the Denver defense create five turnovers and have six sacks http://www.broncosauthorizedshops.com/authentic-courtland-sutton-jersey , it held the Cardinals to under 100 yards rushing. Coming into the game, I simply wanted the Broncos to keep Arizona under 200. Von Miller He not only had two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, he stepped up as a leader should. For what it’s worth, no player has forced more fumbles (25) than Miller since he entered the NFL in 2011. For the 17th time in his career, he finished with two sacks or more in a game. The Broncos Miller put the onus on his team and it responded in a big way. After a do-or-die game, Denver’s players have some confidence heading into their trip to KC. Losers DaeSean Hamilton The reason the Broncos rookie receiver is here is because of his shitty luck. The hope is the injury isn’t as bad as it could be. Bill Musgrave Despite the fact his team won by 35 points, Denver’s offensive coordinator just couldn’t help himself. He still found a way to call way more passing plays than he should have. When one speaks of false hope that this win could bring, Musgrave is why. Case KeenumI debated on this one, but even against a bad football team the Broncos quarterback still couldn’t play a clean game. Maybe it’s nitpicking, but play a damn clean game. There’s also the underthrow of Sutton I mentioned earlier. Larry Fitzgerald The Cardinals receiver is on this list because of the situation. He deserves better than this. My hope is Fitzgerald is traded to a contender before the trade deadline later this month and he’s able to finish his career with a team that can win. The fans who wanted change Those who wanted change to happen after this game will have to wait. Whether this win is a confidence builder or false hope, we’ll find out. There were failures in all four phases of the game on Sunday. Yes, I said four phases: offense, defense, special teams and coaching. I’ll go in depth into a few of the coaching mistakes later. The frustrating part about the 2018 Broncos is that the talent is there to be a playoff team, but the coaches are generally not putting the talent in positions to succeed. This team is 3-5, but could easily be 6-2 or 7-1 - with better coaching (and better QB). I’ll call out three examples from last game - one from each phase. Remember that our coaches had extra time to prepare for this game after the mini-bye that we got from playing a Thursday night game. On special teams I am not going to rail on Cody Wadman. Yes, he had a 19 yard punt that completely demoralized the team, but that is not on the coaches. The special teams coaching fail was not telling Adam Jones to accept a touchback if the kickoff goes into the endzone. Touchbacks on kickoffs give the offense the ball on the 25 Royce Freeman Jersey , so any time a returner does not make it to the 25, they have made it harder on the offense. Adam Jones returned three kickoffs in the game: the first he caught five yards deep and returned to the 19, the second he caught at the one and returned to the 26 and the third he caught a yard deep and returned to the 19. So left 12 yards on the field by not accepting the touchbacks. Yes, 12 yards seems like a small thing, but his decision are symptomatic of a team that is not well coached. Holding happens often on kickoff and punt returns, and while we did not get flagged for holding on any of the kickoffs that were returned in this game, our offense is not great at digging itself out of deep holes. If Adam Jones had the ability to return kickoffs for huge yardage (or TDs) then the risk of a hold or a turnover might be worth it, but he has never returned a kickoff for a TD (and hasn’t returned a punt for a TD since 2012). So he should accept the touchbacks when he/we can. The defensive coaching failure that I noticed was the confusion and unwillingness to call a timeout in the first half when Todd Davis was somehow left to cover Sammy Watkins in the red zone. The defensive coaches need to realize this and get a timeout called. Timeouts are not that precious in the first half as to allow something this glaring of a mismatch to occur. On offense the coaching mistake was the flea-flicker that was intercepted. I understand that Bill Musgrave was just trying to spark the offense with the team down 10 in the 4th quarter, but the offensive coaches have to coach Case Keenum to throw that ball away if the receiver is not wide open. Again, you could say that the failure was on Keenum there and not on Bill Musgrave, but I disagree. Musgrave made the play call and Keenum needed to be coached to know his limitations on that play. He doesn’t have the arm to make that throw and Kendall Fuller took advantage. Remember, the situation that the led to the play. The Broncos had forced a punt and gotten the ball back on the 20. We had run Phillip Lindsay three straight times for gains of 11, 5 and 5 yards. We were moving the ball on the ground and were at our 41 with 8 minutes and 8 seconds to play in the game down 10. There was no reason to run a trick play there. A simple play action probably would have worked well given that we had run the ball successfully three plays in a row. So now on to the normal focus of my weekly article. The defense was actually quite good at stopping the run on first down for the second straight week. The Chiefs ran the ball 10 times on first down for 29 yards (2.90 ypc). Overall we held the Chiefs to 49 yards on 18 carries - 2.72 ypc. It does not take much to get Andy Reid to abandon the run. Overall the Broncos have allowed 5.23 ypc on first down runs - still 30th. KC is still dead last at 5.72 - cold comfort. Houston lead the league allowing only 3.33 ypc on first down runs. We forced the Chiefs into eight 3rd & long situations and they were able to convert two of them. KC only faced 10 third downs in the game. Both conversions came on the Chief’s opening drive of the 3rd quarter that ended in the touchdown to put them up 23-14. The Broncos are now 26th in the league at stopping opponents on 3rd and long - allowing conversion 31.5% of the time. MIN is currently best in the league having only allowed 7 conversion on 50 3rd and long attempts - 14.0%. The Rams are still dead last allowing 40.9% conversion on 3rd and long. FWIW offensively the Broncos are now 24th in terms of converting on 3rd and long - 21.3% and we have allowed 10 sacks in 3rd and long situations (2nd worst in the league) and four of those sacks have led to fumbles. Right now, this team is in the bottom third of the league. Talent-wise this team could make the playoffs in the weak AFC with better coaching and better QB play, but I don’t expect to see much of either from the Broncos this year - not based upon the first 8 games. Case Keenum has regressed to his historical form. Halfway through the season he has 11 TD passes (plus a rushing TD) and 10 INTs. If he continues on that pace in the second half of the season, he will become the first Denver QB to throw 20 INTs in a season since Jake Plummer did it in 2004. The only other Bronco QB to do it after the merger was John Elway in 1985. That was the only season that Elway threw 20 or more INTs (he threw 23 that year). Frank Tripucka (thrice), Jackie Lee and George Herring also had seasons with 20 or more interceptions thrown prior to the merger.

according to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Those were Carroll’s words earlier in the week when Vannett was listed on the injury report with a back problem. Now the third-year Seahawks TE is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders at Wembley Stadium in London http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/authentic-barkevious-mingo-jersey , England. That leaves Darrell Daniels and newly promoted Tyrone Swoopes as the only TEs available for Seattle, so expect George Fant to line-up as a “tight end” (or extra offensive lineman), which is what we saw at time against the Los Angeles Rams. Also out is DE Dion Jordan, who has a knee injury. It’s really unfortunate that he’s this injury-prone, and it’s not as if the Seahawks have tremendous pass-rushing depth. Here are the inactives for both teams:Seattle SeahawksRB C.J. ProsiseS T.J. While Pete Carroll has seemed a little more blunt than usual in his criticisms of players like Germain Ifedi and Alex McGough, he was unrestrained in his compliments for Thompson during an appearance on 710 ESPN on Tuesday morning:Carroll did not call Thompson, “a standout” but “the standout” at a time when Chris Carson is just lighting it up. If Carroll is to be believed — and I’m sure conspiracy theorists would argue he’s just building a stronger case against the need for Earl to return — then perhaps the Seahawks actually have found their free safety of the future. And maybe they don’t feel a need for Thomas to return soon. That being said, I still do expect Earl Thomas to be Seattle’s starting free safety in 2018.No apparent bad blood between the two Youth Tom Johnson Jersey , Thompson has been saying that Earl is still giving him guidance and advice while away from the team. He may be grooming him now to not replace him somewhere down the line, but immediately. And while nobody could reasonably argue that the Seahawks will be better off with Thompson and McDougald than they were with Thomas and Kam Chancellor, it seems that they’re at least starting to get comfortable with the idea. That wasn’t something a lot of people were saying even a week ago. Now Thompson just needs to ride it out for another month.

Doug Middleton is the next player to get a look in our Jets roster countdown.Name: Doug MiddletonNumber: 36Year with Jets: 3rdProjected Role: Safety depthHis 2017: Middleton tore a pec in the preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans and missed the entire season.2018 will be a success if: Middleton can make the roster and provide some depth in subpackages. Helping the team on special teams would not hurt his cause either. Rontez Miles’ injury could create an opening for a guy like Middleton on that front. The AppalachianState product also has practice squad eligibility so he could catch on there as well.Odds of making the roster: Safety is a relatively full spot for the Jets Bilal Powell Jersey , but Middleton was generating a bit of optimism last year. Perhaps I am being overly optimistic, but I think he could sneak onto the roster with a strong finish to the preseason. I put him at 50/50.New York Jets Cuts Tracker 2018 Preseason 2018 is over and now comes the cruelest of times — NFL cuts. Day 11 live blog The Jacksonville Jaguars are starting up Day 11 of training camp http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jermey-parnell-jersey , meaning that practices are now closed to the public — but media still have selected availability to take pictures and videos and we’ll be updating as we can throughout the day.The first (unofficial) depth chart has been released, reflecting a lot of what’s happened at training camp so far.You can read our Day 10 recap here.Follow along with everything Jaguars by checking out our live blog throughout the day.Live blog12:25 PM: Going against the best cornerback in the league will do that to you.12:19 PM: Yeah, I’m gonna need video of this interception by Jalen Ramsey.11:48 AM: Best backup quarterback in the league MY ASS, Jim Irsay.11:44 AM: A rare nice throw by Tanner Lee.11:40 AM: The amount of reps I’ve seen from Blake Bortles to Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been off the charts. Look for the tight ends to be a huge factor in the red zone this year.11:14 AM: That 1999 defense was mad underrated and Dom Capers coordinated the unit. It was a fun team to watch — especially the production he got out of the defensive line and star-studded secondary.10:58 AM: Chemistry drills. Two days until our first preseason game. I am ready.10:17 AM: Doug Marrone doesn’t sugar coat so I can take his praise of struggling guard A.J. Cann with a little more than a grain of salt.10:07 AM: I really hope this isn’t the same thing that stunted Dede Westbrook last preseason. The Jacksonville Jaguars just beat down the lowly New York Jets by a score of 31-12. It was a massive blowout that wasn’t as close as the box score indicates — even if the box score indicated a 19-point win by the Good Guys.Who stood out in the Week 4 matchup? Let’s see who made the list!1. Blake BortlesCredit where credit is due. Good Blake was in the stadium today and my God did this team need him. Leonard Fournette left with a hamstring injury in the second quarter along with Brandon Linder and although T.J. Yeldon was filling in well, if Blake wasn’t able to find receivers the Jets defense was going to clamp down on our running game. Blake had probably his most efficient game in his career — completing 77 percent of his passes, throwing for a career-high 388 yards http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-t.j.-yeldon-jersey , and had 10.2 yards per pass attempt. He completed passes to 10 different receivers and was mistake-free except for a tipped pass that led to an interception. He was masterful today and if he can keep this up there is no team in the NFL that can beat them.2. Dede WestbrookExcept for a fumble late in the game, Westbrook lived up to the draft day hype of a first round talent that fell due to off-the-field problems. He caught nine of 13 targets for 130 yards, including this beauty where he absolutely exposed Jamal Adams and the Jets secondary.Straight out of Madden.3. Donte MoncriefThe newly signed Moncrief caught all five targets thrown his way, including a beauty of a Bortles pass along the right sideline. It’s his first 100-yard game with the Jaguars.4. T.J. Yeldon100 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. He filled in well partly because Blake was on fire today but also partly because, well, he’s getting better. Leonard doesn’t have to rush back from his hamstring injury because Yeldon has shown himself to be a more-than-capable backup in two of the Jaguars’ three wins so far this season.5. Marcell DareusAlong with Calais Campbell http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-josh-lambo-jersey , he was responsible for the first Jaguars safety since 2014.Three tackles on a day without a lot of tackles by this defense. He’s such a good rotational player and a perfect fit for Todd Wash’s scheme.6. Tashaun GipsonExcept for a needless taunting penalty, Gipson has played lights out through four games this season. The Jaguars are near the top of the league in terms of preventing big plays and Gipson’s presence at center field is a big reason why.7. Yannick NgakoueHe finally got his first sack of the season so now we can stop talking about it.Also, make sure to watch how Taven Bryan crushes the left guard and helps collapse the pocket on this play. A big reason Calais Campbell has played so well through the first quarter of the season is because of Bryan’s ability to spell him and still produce.8. Barry ChurchAlong with Gipson, Church has been playing at a Pro Bowl level. Today he had three tackles and a big sack on third down and several big stops in coverage.Honorable MentionLogan Cooke had three of his four punts downed inside the 20-yard line for a 46.3 punting average, but it was his punt downed at the two-yard line that made the safety possible by the Jaguars defense.
