Max Garcia Jersey , Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Line coach Mike Munchak appears to be the “early leader” for the Broncos Head Coaching vacancy. CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora backs up Rapoport’s report by saying Munchak “is garnering strong support for the Denver Broncos head coaching opening”. This comes a day after where reports were floated out there that Munchak has “strong interest” in the Broncos job. He has family in the area, apparently likes the area, and can see his granddaughter on a regular basis. All signs point to Munchak being the Broncos next Head Coach. His “leader of men” qualities, his expertise in developing offensive lineman, and experience are what the Broncos find appealing in Munchak. However, his lackluster three-years in Tennessee make this potential hire look uninspiring at best. The Broncos have interviewed former Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano, Rams Quarterback’s coach Zac Taylor, and New England Patriots Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores along with Munchak thus far in their search. The Broncos have one interview left with Bears Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio and will meet with him Monday morning in the Chicago area. Now while Munchak appears to be the “early favorite”, 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis says that Fangio has a “honest chance” to win over the Broncos tomorrow morning. I believe Fangio should be the guy and a strong interview with Elway and the Broncos decision makers could make that happen. However, Fangio has interviewed for multiple jobs in the past and has yet to get one so we shall see how this goes. Fangio is my choice and I am lukewarm at best with Munchak. I am keen on having a strong defensive mind keeping this defense strong going forward, especially with Mahomes in this division for at least the next decade. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Case Keenum has a simple answer for why none of his passes were picked off in November after throwing interceptions in each of his first eight games as the Denver Broncos‘ new quarterback.“I’m throwing it to our guys, not throwing it to the other team,” Keenum said. “Who knew?”It’s actually more than just Keenum taking care of the football.“I just think he’s getting comfortable with the system Cheap Dalton Risner Jersey ,” receiver Emmanuel Sanders said.Denver’s makeshift offensive line, with two tackles playing guard and a guard at center, deserves some credit. So does offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, who’s navigated through a turnstile at tight end, the loss of leader Demaryius Thomas and youthful mistakes at receiver to refine his play calls for Keenum.Left tackle Garett Bolles has started to settle into his job as Keenum’s blindside protector and rookie running back Phillip Lindsay’s remarkable season has helped highlight the play-action passes that Keenum favors.Keenum took a lot longer to adjust to his new role, new team and new offense than the Broncos (5-6) hoped. He threw three interceptions in his Denver debut and then strung together seven more games with an interception, an alarming string given that he had just seven interceptions in leading the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC championship game last year after Sam Bradford got hurt.Keenum said he’s “just being smarter with the ball. It’s something I do. That’s why early on in the season I was frustrated. It’s tough. That’s something I pride myself on as a quarterback, giving our team a chance to win and not being the reason that we aren’t winning. Turnovers in this league is probably the biggest stat that really matters.”The Broncos, who visit the Bengals (5-6) next, allowed a whopping 1,006 yards the last two weeks but they ended six-game winning streaks by the Chargers and Steelers because they collected seven takeaways and had zero turnovers. While Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr. and Shelby Harris were getting all the accolades for their interceptions, Keenum was quietly taking care of the football.Ball security, Keenum said, is “something I think about every day. Every decision I make Von Miller Jersey , I know the ball is the most important thing on the field. I’ve got it in my hands every play, so I know every decision I make is that important.“That’s why I grind, that’s why I work, and we’ve gotten better across the board — offensive line, running backs and receivers,” Keenum said. “We’re all on the same page, getting better, working each week and communicating. We feel better with the offense and it’s just a lot of different things, a lot of factors.”Keenum said the learning curve at quarterback in the NFL is infinite.“Do I feel a lot better than I did at training camp? Heck, yeah,” Keenum said. “I think we’re light years ahead of where we were then. But at the same time, I still feel like we have a long way to go.”And Keenum has an ever-changing supporting cast, too:ROOKIE RECEIVERSThe trade of Thomas to Houston may have opened more opportunities for the Broncos’ young pass catchers but it also robbed rookie receivers Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton of their best on-field tutor.Since Thomas’ departure, Sutton has started three games and caught seven passes for 149 yards and no touchdowns. But some of his grabs came in clutch moments.“I think he’s doing great Joe Flacco Jersey ,” Keenum said. “He’s continuing to work, continuing to grind and continuing to not be a rookie. I see him as a vet that I can count on to play and make big plays when I need him to.”Sutton hasn’t caught more than three passes in a game, however, and his last touchdown came Oct. 28.Hamilton was inactive against Houston in Thomas’ hasty homecoming game, then caught one pass for 4 yards against the Chargers and one pass for 13 yards against Pittsburgh. He has yet to score a touchdown.TIGHT END TURNSTILETargeting tight ends has long been a big part of Keenum’s repertoire. But Jeff Heuerman broke three ribs and bruised a lung last week and joined Jake Butt (knee) and Troy Fumagalli (sports hernia) on IR.That leaves Denver with three unproven tight ends:—Matt LaCosse, a fourth-year pro who scored his first NFL touchdown last week.—Brian Parker, a third-year pro who has one career catch in 17 games with the Chiefs, Jets and Broncos.—Temarrick Hemingway, a third-year pro who had no receptions in eight games in 2016 with the Rams, where Keenum was his teammate.“I’m the product of a next-man-up mentality,” Keenum said. “That’s when I got my opportunity, was an injury. One person’s unfortunate incident and having a guy go down might be the start of somebody’s great career.”

want to happen. It makes complete sense. You go out and acquire a top 10 corner and make this secondary one of the best in the NFL. Peterson would shift this defense to a whole new level and give Keith Butler more scheming options than he even he could have imagined. Yet Derwin Gray Jersey 2019 , it all seems far too unlikely. That is not the Steelers way and it never will be, even if it needs to be right now. I don’t count on that happening. But don’t let that distract you from the fact that there could be answers that all we would have to pay is money. Not just at Cornerback, but other positions of need as well. It’s no secret that the Steelers need that elusive CB2 badly, and the answer is not to wait out Artie Burns, but instead to go outside the organization for the solution. Thus, here are four free agents that the Steelers should target who could make this team better right now:CB David AmersonHere is a guy that would immediately step onto the team and be the 3rd best cornerback on roster. It was only two years ago in his age 24 season where Amerson was arguably the best cornerback in the entire NFL. He had an incredibly rocky 2017 in Oakland, but seemed to at least be competent in Kansas City, but they went for youth instead. He is still only 26 and excels in both man and zone coverage. He is a playmaker and a ballhawk with ball skills. That is something that none of the 3-man council at CB2 currently has, and if the Steelers really want to fix the CB position outside of Peterson, Amerson seems to be a great option.Amerson only had a “down” 2017 due to a foot injury which noticeably slowed him down and ended his season. Amerson is no doubt someone who can come in and give the Steelers someone that can be competent opposite of Haden. It is low risk, high reward move, especially if Amerson returns to his 2016 form.EDGE Junior GaletteI have no clue why Galette is not signed. Not one clue. Go watch a little bit of his tape and you will impressed right away with how easily and how fast he can turn the bend. Galette is an OLB with legit pass rush moves and bend. He knows how to bull rush and use the leverage he naturally has to his advantage. His club-rip combo is one of the deadliest in the NFL right now and that would be a key natural source of pass rush for the Steelers.Galette had the third most pressures among NFC OLBs and ranked second in pass rushing efficiency per PFF. That is all I need to cite. In addition, a 70.3 run defense grade adds a cherry on top to this argument. Galette would be a huge boost off the edge and should be a target for the Steelers right away. DB Quinten RollinsI don’t love Rollins’ game, but what I do love is his versatility. Right now, Rollins would be a better version of Cam Sutton. Rollins is much more hands on and physical, and when he was in Green Bay Cheap Derwin Gray Jersey , he was asked to play off-man about 75% of the time, but where he really excels is when he has to be right up against the line and aggressive. His press skills are really good. His zone skills are not bad, and he can process. He is prone to outside releases and being lackadaisical at times, which causes him to get burnt, but he is a willing run defender at the least. My favorite part is that he can play outside, in the slot, single-high, or even in the box. Rollins is an ultimate jack of all trades and master of none, but that does not mean he cannot be valuable to this team. While he would give an immediate solution to the CB2 issue, if an injury were to occur elsewhere, Rollins would be a great depth piece to have there. RB Charcandrick WestA running back? Yes, that may come as a bit of a surprise, but I really just do not trust Stevan Ridley to fill in if James Conner somehow gets injured. Until Le’Veon Bell gets back, there has to be a bit of fear that if Conner does get injured, what happens? Ridley and Samuels are simply not capable backs to fill in currently. Samuels is a great receiving threat, but his vision still needs to improve Benny Snell Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , and I am not sure if he is ready to be a lead back for a game. So, yes, in comes Charcandrick West, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs, who can offer some explosive plays, but is really just a grinder out of the backfield. His best attributes are that he is absolutely fantastic in pass protection and he has solid hands. West is more of a complete running back than anyone on the roster not named Conner. If Conner ever did get injured, this signing would pay off, and West would be much more rotatable than Ridley is currently. Simply put, a good depth signing. It’s known that the Steelers don’t want to send receiver Antonio Brown to a division rival or the Patriots. It’s been speculated that Brown could land with the 49ers or the Cardinals. Peter King has thrown a few darts in a different direction as part of Monday’s column. How about the Carolina Panthers?“New owner David Tepper, a Pittsburgh guy, went to Pitt and then Carnegie Mellon, and donated $55 million to CMU, which now has a Tepper School of Business in his honor,” King writes. “He bought a 5 percent stake in the Steelers in 2009, preceding his purchase of the Panthers last year. So he’ll know the holes in Brown’s persona, but he’ll also know the difference Brown could make in a passing game that needs a downfield threat.“Brown has averaged 114 catches and 1 Benny Snell Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey ,524 yards a year for the past six years with the deep-armed Ben Roethlisberger, and he’ll be motivated to keep the distractions to a minimum so he can earn a new deal. Tepper is motivated to inject new life into a 24-25 team since Carolina’s Super Bowl appearance three years ago. Though G.M. Marty Hurney is a conservative type by nature, I think he could be convinced to take a shot on this get-rich-quick scheme. It’d thrill Cam Newton too.”The Tepper connection bears watching, given that he either knows or should be in position to find out what he needs to know about Brown. And that’s the flip side to this one; if the Panthers don’t make a move for Brown, maybe other teams without that inside information should take heed of Tepper’s tepid reaction to Brown being available.King also suggests Washington, the Raiders, the Bucs, and the Jets as possible Brown destinations. The Steelers claim they want significant compensation, Brown claims he wants a new deal, and it will not be easy for a new team to thread the needle on this. If the Panthers don’t even try, maybe no one else should, either.

Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , Va. (AP) — The injuries keep mounting for the Washington Redskins, who put three more players on injured reserve Wednesday to raise their season total to 17: starting cornerback Quinton Dunbar, receiver Trey Quinn and guard Jonathan Cooper. In other moves, the Redskins (6-6) signed Josh Johnson to be their backup quarterback against the visiting New York Giants (4-8) on Sunday and added guard Zac Kerin, center Demetrius Rhaney and defensive end Marcus Smith as free agents."We had a lot of conversations in the offseason about it. We added the recovery room, we are trying to get the right treatment, we've got massage tables in there, we've got sleep centers, we've got all kinds of stuff in there for guys to take care of their bodies Rob Kelley Jersey ," coach Jay Gruden said about the injury issues. "But you look at the type of injuries that we've had and it's the same as last year: They are all kinds of different ones. There's ankles, there's knees, there's pecs, there's thumbs," Gruden continued. "I just can't put a finger on it. And if anybody has an answer, I'd love to hear it."Johnson has not attempted a pass in a regular-season NFL game since 2011.But he was Washington's choice to serve as the backup to new starter Mark Sanchez, who was signed last month and takes over the job after Alex Smith and Colt McCoy each went down with a broken right leg in a three-game span.Cooper tore his biceps tendon in Washington's 28-13 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. As it is, he was only in the lineup because he was brought in during the season after Week 1 starters Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao went on IR. The other current starter at guard, Tony Bergstrom Ziggy Hood Jersey , didn't practice Wednesday because of an injured ankle, while starting center Chase Roullier sat out with a bad knee.Dunbar has been bothered by a nerve problem in his leg and appeared in only seven of the Redskins' 12 games. Quinn, the last pick in this year's NFL draft, missed Monday's game with a hurt right ankle and played in only three games this season, making one earlier trip to IR before being activated."I've never seen anything like this before. I really don't know what to say. I don't know if we're living wrong or something around here, or what it is," running back Chris Thompson said about all the health issues the Redskins have dealt with. "But this injury bug that's been following us the last couple years — I have no words for it." ASHBURN, Va. (AP)After plugging holes on the defensive and offensive lines and at running back, the Washington Redskins still have plenty of depth needs to fill on the third day of the NFL draft.Washington has five picks left: one each in the fourth Geron Christian Jersey , fifth and sixth and two in the seventh round Saturday. The extra fifth-rounder the Redskins got from Denver for safety Su’a Cravens they traded to San Francisco on Friday night as part of a deal to move down in the second round and pick up an extra third.Taking Alabama defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne 13th overall, LSU running back Derrius Guice 59th and Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian 74th should allow the Redskins to solidify their secondary and perhaps find a long-term prospect at tight end. Selecting Christian likely moves swing tackle Ty Nsekhe to the starting left guard spot, making good on senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams’ theory that the team wasn’t going into the draft determined to get a guard.Washington prioritized defensive line over other defensive positions by taking Payne, and young defensive backs Fabian Moreau and Montae Nicholson will be counted on more in 2018. It could still use another cornerback and safety either in the draft or through free agency.Years of injuries to star tight end Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis being 34 makes that position a strong possibility, even a year after taking Jeremy Sprinkle. Getting more receiver options for recently-acquired quarterback Alex Smith also puts receiver in play.—

will be tight end for the Raiders. Last year arguably the strength of the offense Johnathan Abram Jersey 2019 , Jared Cook was a pro bowler and Lee Smith a locker room leader..."An interesting position group going into the season will be tight end for the Raiders. Last year arguably the strength of the offense, Jared Cook was a pro bowler and Lee Smith a locker room leader and devastating blocker. Jared Cook left in free agency opening up a glaring void at the receiving tight end role in the Raiders offense. And yesterday it was announced that fan favorite Lee Smith was released from his contract with the team. The tight ends on the roster are now Darren Waller, Derek Carrier, Luke Willson, Paul Butler and newly drafted 4th round pick Foster Moreau out of LSU.The narrative around Moreau is that he is a high character football player who earned recognition from his coaches and teammates for his hard work and leadership while at LSU. Many reports indicate that Moreau is a great blocker with the athleticism to be a good all around NFL tight end. Let’s take a closer look to see if the film matches the story on Moreau.BlockingMoreau is not a complete blocker at this point in his football career. He needs to improve his technique as well as add strength in order to not be a liability. Good news for Raiders fans, his best blocking reps were in zone schemes where he utilizes his athleticism to block on the move.Starting with the good, Moreau isn’t the best in line blocker yet, but when he had help from his offensive line he was able to turn out a few reps like the one above. He gets hip to hip with the right tackle, driving his feet and rolling his hips through the defender before taking him to the ground. The example above is from a zone scheme where Moreau helps the left tackle double the end before he releases upfield to “arc” block the safety. Moreau shows great fluidity in space and is able to work his way to blockers in a way some tight ends can’t.Another example of Moreau blocking while on the move came on this counter play. Moreau is able to wall off the linebacker in the hole and help the running back get to the second level. Moreau shows great processing, quickly identifying his assignment in traffic and executing the block.Unfortunately Moreau has twice as many bad reps blocking than good ones. This one highlights how far he has to go before he can be counted on as an-line blocker. In a single block on the defensive end, Moreau gets walked backwards into the path of the ball carrier. The defender is able to disengage and get his hands on the running back 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.Moreau isn’t always able to out- athletic defenders either. On this inside zone play he comes across the formation and needs to block the end man on the line of scrimmage. He coils his body to explode through contact but ends up getting thrown to the ground by the Florida linebacker, allowing another tackle for loss. Being truthful with Raider nation, this was a common occurrence in Moreau’s tape. He is not ready to block the likes of Joey Bosa, Von Miller, and Frank Clark with any kind of success day one.ReceivingMoreau perhaps shows more upside as a receiver despite rarely ever being asked to catch the football. His combine performance put him in the elite athleticism range for tight ends posting an elite relative athletic score at his position, second only to Noah Fant in this 2019 draft class. His upside as a receiver should be where Raiders fans are most excited about his projection in the offense.Moreau is a reliable target who can use his size (6’4’’ 250lbs) to post up defenders and secure contested catches in traffic. This is an area where tight ends must flourish in any offense and Moreau checks that box off. Per PFF Cheap Johnathan Abram Jersey , Moreau caught 81.5% of his targets in college.Although Moreau only caught 52 passes in 29 career games, he flashed ability as a receiver who can get downfield and get extra yards after the catch. Most NFL tight ends can post up smaller defenders, but the rare ones are able to turn up field and become runners when the ball is in their hands. Moreau has the athleticism to potentially have that impact for the Raiders. If a tight end wants to earn extra targets he needs to prove to his quarterback that he deserves it. Catches like this show Moreau has great hands and the body control to make catches even when the ball is placed awkwardly. Raiders fans have been plagued by seeing players drop catchable passes, it doesn’t seem like this will be an issue for Moreau.ConclusionMoreau likely won’t start early in his career even with the departure of Lee Smith. Luke Willson projects to be able to fill that role of in-line blocker. Moreau right now is better suited as the move tight end or “Joker” in Gruden’s offense with his athleticism and sure hands, but it’s Darren Waller who is the favorite to start in that role early on in the season.Moreau has a chance to be a solid contributor for the Raiders in the future and is an exciting player to have on the team when taking into account his high character and work ethic. His presence in the locker room is in line with the culture Gruden and Mayock are attempting to build so in that respect he could fill Lee Smith’s shoes. However his role in the offense will likely be far different from what Smith added as a hard-nosed blocker in Silver & Black the past few seasons. pounds for the 2019 season."Good morning DaeSean Hamilton Jersey , Broncos Country!Von Miller is back at Dove Valley with the rest of the Broncos (mostly) to begin voluntary OTAs under new head coach Vic Fangio and defensive coordinator Ed Donatell. And Miller has big plans for the upcoming season.BIG plans. As in 10 pounds bigger. The svelte edge rusher has decided his optimal weight is closer to 248 rather than the 236-238 he’s carried since the Super Bowl season.Miller noted that he doesn’t think his previous weight was a bad weight, but he’d like to try bigger.“It’s not bad, but I want to be 245 or 248. I’m right back at that now. Being 238 last year, I felt like that was a good weight for me. I played in the Super Bowl at 236, so I felt like that was a good weight for me,” Miller said, adding that he experimented with his weight and has been adding it on gradually.A potential concern would be whether that extra 10 pounds could prevent No. 58 from being as fast off the snap as he has been. The edge rusher acknowledged that it wouldn’t work for him to just add 10 pounds for the sake of 10 pounds.“When it comes to technique and skill, you can’t really put 10 pounds on. You have to have it, or you don’t,” he said. “It’s a totally different player from being 245 to 235. It’s a totally different game. I just wanted to get back to 245, and I’ve been doing it that way.”Miller indicated his reason for getting back to 245 is to give him more strength and power when going up against the offensive linemen (or usually two or three in his case).“I feel like for me, the difference between 235 and 245 is not really get-off, it’s not really speed, it’s not really getting hurt or getting injured, it’s not really agility or anything like that, or my moves,” he said. “It’s when you get locked up with an offensive lineman and where you’re able to go with that.”Where Miller would like to go is right through that lineman on the way to the QB.“[With] 235, you can go a certain direction with that when you’re locked in with an offensive lineman,” he said. “[At] 245, you can go just a little bit further with that. [At] 245 is where I want to be at. It’s still not much. It’s only 10 pounds. It’s not a lot https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-lock-jersey , but I need that 10 pounds.”On our MHR Live podcast Tuesday night, Jess, Tim and I talked about whether the extra weight could be a concern for Miller’s speed to the quarterback. I’ll admit that I wonder if the extra weight will affect his “get-off” with the snap, but ultimately, I’m not too worried. It’s Von “QB-wrecker” Miller, and I’m pretty sure if the weight isn’t working for him, his new coach will let him know.“Coach Fangio, he’s all about technique, assignment, intensity and effort, and I like that,” Miller said. “He’s an outside linebacker guru, and he’s up next with me.”Horse TracksTrial by fire prepares WR Courtland Sutton for Year 2 improvementWhen Emmanuel Sanders went down with an injury late last year, Sutton became the Broncos' No. 1 wide receiver. That experience has given the second-round pick a different perspective as he heads into his second season.A better Von Miller? continue against the Chiefs While there will be more than enough column inches devoted to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ issues on defense in the coming days Heath Miller Jersey , their problems on special teams are clearly deserving of some attention too. Short punts, penalties and poor coverage cost Pittsburgh field position once again and two missed kicks kept four points off of the board in a game the Steelers lost by five. The struggles of Jordan Berry have been evident to anyone paying attention to his play ever since he entered the league. But it feels as if his steady, annual regression is more obvious in 2018. His preseason wasn’t impressive, earning him some criticism from Mike Tomlin after the game against the Green Bay Packers, and the needle has been pointing downward ever since. Five punts for a gross average of 46.4 yards might not seem horrible on the face of it, but the 31.6-yard net average they yielded absolutely is. When you consider Berry had one great punt on the day for 59 yards with no return that rolled out on the Chiefs 1-yard line, it highlights just how bad the rest of his kicks really were.As much as Berry has had his supporters on social media using flawed logic to defend his errant punts, many in the crowd at Heinz Field were quite vocal in their displeasure after each poor kick.In reality, Berry was far from doing what the coaching staff had told him to do. More likely, his deficiencies as a punter have become so obvious to other teams that they are scheming to take advantage of his mistakes. Former Indianapolis Colts All-Pro and Pro Bowl punter Pat McAfee provided an excellent analysis of the problems Berry is creating for the Steelers with his wayward style, explaining some of the issues perfectly.Warning, in typical McAfee style John Stallworth Jersey , this is not safe for family viewing and contains some profanity. Speaking to the media after the game, Tomlin made a point of calling out both of his kickers, but it remains to be seen what changes are made in the coming weeks. The coaching staff had a chance to replace Berry in the preseason, but opted to stick with the incumbent and watch Matt Wile sign the Minnesota Vikings the second he was released instead. This despite Wile outperforming Berry in the few opportunities he was given during preseason. It would be fair to note, however, that Wile has hardly set the world on fire with the Vikings, registering net punts of 36 yards in Week 1 and 36.8 yards in Week 2, compared to Berry’s 37.1 and 31.6 net in respective weeks. For Chris Boswell, a solution to the problem is not so straightforward, and it would be reasonable to question how much of an issue he really has. As consistent as ever throughout the preseason, Boswell has only missed two field goals and an extra point to date in 2018, That being said Jack Butler Jersey , those three errant kicks have all proven to be rather significant.A 42-yard field goal in the rain against Cleveland was no gimme, but game-winning kicks are something Steelers Nation became used to with Boswell in 2017. After going nine out of 10 on kicks between 40-49 yards last year and making 35 of 38 field-goal attempts, being anything besides automatic has some fans overreacting. While this is obviously an absurd take for a man one year removed from a Pro Bowl season, Boswell could have won the game in overtime in Week 1, and the kicks he missed against Kansas City effectively changed the complexion of the game in the fourth quarter as the Steelers chased the Chiefs on the scoreboard. Hoping to “kick my way through this,” Boswell at least did his best to address questions from the media after the game, unlike some of his teammates. When the kickers weren’t letting the special teams unit down, the coverage and return teams were. Penalties negated some positive returns, including one by Antonio Brown to near mid-field and a 24-yard kick return by Ryan Switzer. Two drives were forced to start inside the Steelers own 11-yard line thanks to penalties and Tyler Matakevich was personally responsible in one of those instances. But that wasn’t his biggest mistake on the day, which occurred on the final play of the game when a roughing-the-punter penalty cost Pittsburgh a chance to get the ball back with 12 seconds to play. Although no one is suggesting the Steelers would have thrown a Hail Mary to win the game if given the opportunity, it would have been nice to at least have had the chance to try. The coaching staff may consider they’ve got so many issues to work on this week that the concerns about the special teams must take a backseat to the problems on defense, but if these problems persist Joe Greene Jersey , changes will need to be made. PITTSBURGH (AP) — There’s a certain kind of joyful mundaneness to Terrell Edmunds‘ first job out of college. The Pittsburgh Steelers rookie safety is typically up before dawn and at the team’s training facility by 7 a.m., where he spends the 11 or so hours watching film, lifting weights, attending meetings and practicing. It’s much the same when the first-round pick gets back home. Edmunds will place his legs inside a pair of compression sleeves designed to help his muscles recover quickly, flip on his iPad and look at more tape. Typically, Edmunds lets the video run at normal speed. No need to slow it down.“I just let it play,” Edmunds said. “Sometimes I don’t look into detail. I’ll see what pops up more than once and think ‘Oh I saw this before. Who are they throwing it to the most?’ Things like that.”Edmunds is a quick study. Thrown immediately into the mix thanks to a preseason injury to free agent signee Morgan Burnett, Edmunds has been a bright spot for an uneven secondary.Steady if not yet spectacular, Edmunds has earned the trust of defensive backs coach Tom Bradley and head coach Mike Tomlin for his conscientious approach to his work.“He’s gotten better each and every game,” Bradley said Tuesday. “The thing that got him three games ago doesn’t get him now. Each week there’s something he picks up that becomes easier in his repertoire as we progress in this thing.”Edmunds really hasn’t had much choice. He was supposed to spend his first season learning behind Burnett. It hasn’t quite turned out that way.The Steelers (3-2-1) signed the former Green Bay Packer to a three-year deal in the offseason, hopeful Burnett could provide leadership and sure tackling, both things in short supply for a group in transition.Instead Ernie Stautner Jersey , Burnett has spent most of his time in Pittsburgh watching from the sideline thanks to a steady stream of injuries, the latest a groin issue that’s forced him to miss each of the past four games. There is no timetable for when Burnett might be able to return and given Edmunds’ rapid development, it’s uncertain what role Burnett might fill whenever he is healthy enough to play.Burnett’s status is one of a handful Bradley has been forced to face in his first year on the job. The careful offseason plan he and Tomlin put together to revitalize Pittsburgh’s secondary makeover is in tatters. Burnett can’t stay on the field.Cornerback Artie Burns is struggling and Coty Sensabaugh and Cam Sutton — the two most likely candidates to replace the erratic Burns — can’t put together enough good stretches to provide a compelling reason to sit Burns down and let him regroup.“We’ve got to make a lot of adjustments just based on injuries and the guys that have been able to play,” Bradley said. “The things we worked on in preseason practice, we’ve been unable to play because of the different people playing different positions.”Pittsburgh enters its bye week ranked 27th in passing yards and 29th in passing touchdowns allowed. Not exactly the step forward the organization had in mind when defensive backs coach Carnell Lake stepped away in the aftermath of a playoff loss to Jacksonville in January and veterans Mike Mitchell, Rob Golden and William Gay were released in March .Bradley is quick to place the blame on his shoulders. He’s confident Burns — a standout as a rookie in 2016 — will get his swagger back.“Artie has to play more consistently, he knows that,” Bradley said. “We’ve got to make sure we concentrate on every play, to get everything right, all the little things.”And maybe the big things too. Burns was beaten badly by Cincinnati’s Tyler Boyd in Pittsburgh’s 28-21 victory last Sunday, standing several steps behind Boyd as Boyd hauled in a remarkably easy 14-yard touchdown reception. Burns was replaced for a spell in the third quarter, but any long-term solution for the Steelers relies on Burns returning to form.“I think he’ll be fine L.C. Greenwood Jersey ,” Bradley said. “He’s got confidence in his ability and things he can do.”If Burns needs inspiration, he doesn’t need to look far. Pittsburgh finds itself in the thick of the AFC North race despite its uneven play on defense thanks in large part to veteran cornerback Joe Haden. The 29-year-old kept Atlanta’s Julio Jones in check in a 41-17 victory two weeks ago and kept Bengals star A.J. Green out of the end zone.“Joe’s athletic ability is still pretty sharp,” Bradley said. “But mentally he gets better as time goes on and I think he understands what people are trying to get done.”It’s a path the rest of the secondary is trying to follow. Work — lots of work in some cases — needs to be done, but Bradley believes the communication problems and injury concerns that have hampered his group will level off going forward.“Playing defense is a lot like driving a car,” Bradley said. “When you start out, we’re all (hands at) 10 (o’clock) and 2 (o’clock), staring constantly. Then as you start to drive more … you still see everything but you’re able to look around, talk to people and do different things. Now, as time goes on, we’ll start to play faster.”

for the Raiders on Wednesday Johnny Townsend Jersey , but the team’s biggest free-agency arrival won’t be there for it.As noted by Michael Gehlken of the , receiver Antonio Brown remains absent as the Raiders welcome the Rams for two days of joint practice. It will be the eighth practice that Brown has missed, due to feet that were frozen by entering a cryotherapy chamber without proper footwear.“It’s good to go against a different scheme,” quarterback Derek Carr said regarding the joint practices, via Gehlken. “I really enjoy it and especially when it’s two really professional teams that aren’t trying to prove their manhood or prove their toughness to each other. Obviously, football is a physical game, but when there are just fights and brawls, I think that’s pointless.”Five years ago, during Carr’s rookie season, the Raiders and Cowboys got into a knock-down-drag-out fight during training camp at Oxnard, California. The following year, the Rams and Cowboys rumbled in Oxnard. Raiders coach Jon Gruden and Rams coach Sean McVay, who worked together in Tampa and who remain good friends, surely will try to avoid any joint-practice ugliness. The Raiders and Rams will meet in a preseason game on Saturday night in Oakland. Brown surely won’t be playing. Although his condition has been downplayed by the Raiders, it’s clear that it’s not minor. At some point, the Raiders need to start worrying about whether he’ll be available for Week One — and if so whether he’ll be effective. If anyone really looks forward to exhibition football games, this is the week to pay attention. One good place to start is in Oakland. Not because Aaron Rodgers will see plenty of action for Green Bay; he won’t, might not play at all. And the Raiders‘ best player, Khalil Mack, still is holding out. Such is the approach for players and coaches in the preseason. But Rodgers gets to hang out — if not warm up with — an old friend and his former favorite target. The departure of receiver Jordy Nelson has left Rodgers in need of a new partner to take part in one of his pregame routines. In the end zone before a game, there would be Rodgers and Nelson playing catch and spinning footballs on their fingertips. That won’t happen Friday night now that Nelson is a Raider, though they remain good friends.“He said he has his own pregame routine now so we can’t play catch before the game, so I’m a little disappointed by that,” Rodgers quipped. “He’s changed. … He’s a new guy.”The competition between Brett Hundley and offseason acquisition DeShone Kizer to back up Rodgers will be a focal point for the Packers. Plus Reggie Nelson Jersey , depth is starting to become an issue at running back because injuries have slowed Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones and Devante Mays. Jones could play Friday as he comes back from a hamstring injury, though the Packers will be without him for the first two weeks of the season because of an NFL suspension. Ty Montgomery is the only healthy holdover from last year.On the other side, Raiders coach Jon Gruden calls his running backs the strength of his team even if the top guys haven’t gotten to show much in the preseason. Marshawn Lynch had a 60-yard TD run called back by penalty on his only touch, and No. 2 back Doug Martin has one carry for 3 yards. Both could get a longer look when Gruden plans to play his starters into the second quarter.“We’re not going to play them a whole lot, but they will get some time,” he said. “Hopefully they have some success.”Undrafted rookie Chris Warren III has made the most of the time Lynch and Martin have spent on the sideline. Warren leads the NFL with 196 yards rushing this preseason.MVPS IN ACTIONThe third preseason game is usually when Bill Belichick uses his starters most. Last year, Tom Brady played about two quarters, then sat out the exhibition finale. Look for Brady, the 2017 league MVP, to be on the field at Carolina for perhaps the first half.Rob Gronkowski could see his first action of the year. The Patriots are also looking for help on the offensive line after losing tackle Isaiah Wynn, the No. 23 overall pick, in the last game. With Kenny Britt cut this week, the team will also be seeking depth at receiver, especially for the four weeks Julian Edelman serves his performance-enhancers suspension.2015 MVP Cam Newton and the Panthers‘ first-team offense will see their most extensive action of the preseason, playing into the third quarter. Newton has dramatically improved his accuracy this preseason under new offensive coordinator Norv Turner, completing 71.4 percent as compared to a career completion percentage of 58.5 percent.Protecting Newton could be an issue as the Panthers will be without three starting offensive linemen due to injuries.O-LINE PROBLEMSMinnesota’s task of improvement on offense begins with the line, where right tackle Rashod Hill and right guard Mike Remmers are expected to suit up against Seattle after sitting out the previous game with ankle injuries. Center Pat Elflein has been on the PUP list for the entire training camp, still rehabilitating from offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries. Left guard Nick Easton is out for the year with a neck injury.“We’re not the only ones in the league to be having these issues,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. “We just have a few more than we should have at this point in time. It’s life.”Seattle’s recommitment to being a run-first team will get a stiff test. The Seahawks believe they’ve strayed from their successful formula as NFC champions in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and re-establishing the run to control the game has been an offseason focus. While first-round pick Rashaad Penny won’t play (finger), second-year running back Chris Carson is likely to see his most extensive playing time of the preseason. The Seahawks will also get long looks at second-year safeties Delano Hill and Tedric Thompson.“ALL DAY” GETS A SHOTAdrian Peterson will make his preseason debut four days after signing with the Redskins.Coach Jay Gruden said Peterson’s workload vs. the Broncos may depend on how much playing time the starting offensive line gets. Peterson will split carries with incumbent Rob Kelley, who emerged as the front-runner to start after rookie Derrius Guice tore the ACL in his left knee.Left tackle Trent Williams is still questionable as he comes off major knee surgery.Denver’s defense played much better last week against Chicago than in the opener against the Vikings. Coach Vance Joseph said he wants his defensive identity to be “stopping the run” so the Broncos can turn loose the likes of Von Miller, rookie Bradley Chubb Kolton Miller Jersey , Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray on the quarterback.“Stopping the run and putting the offense in a one-dimensional phase, making them be a passing team so we can rush the passer. And, playing with a lead. That’s important also for our defense. We do have great pass rushers, but if you don’t have a lead, you won’t ever see them come out,” Joseph said.WHERE’S THE RUSHMatt Patricia was the defensive guru in New England, and now as head man in Detroit, his Lions have all of zero sacks this summer. He’s not losing sleep over that as the Lions visit Tampa Bay.“We’re really not into stats here right now,” Patricia said. “We’re into evaluation. That’s the biggest thing, and that’s the most important process for us right now. Stats aren’t going to get us anything as far as the regular season is concerned.”Tampa Bay’s top priority this offseason was improving a pass rush that ranked last in the NFL with 22 sacks. In addition to signing ex-Eagles linemen Beau Allen and Vinny Curry in free agency, the Buccaneers traded for Jason Pierre-Paul. Through two preseason games, the team has three sacks.MEADOWLANDS MATCHUPAs the Jets try to determine if first-rounder Sam Darnold is already their top quarterback, he might get to throw to two veterans for the first time. Wide receivers Quincy Enunwa (thumb) and Terrelle Pryor (ankle) could also see their first preseason action.Darnold, who started last week at Washington, took the bulk of snaps with the first-team offense during practice. He had a solid debut as the third-stringer in the preseason opener against Atlanta and was inconsistent against the Redskins. Bowles said he expects the starters to play a minimum of two quarters, so Darnold could be out there a while.Meanwhile, Giants running back Saquon Barkley, taken one spot ahead of Darnold, returned to practice on a limited basis. It seems unlikely that Barkley (hamstring) will play against the Jets.It also doesn’t appear star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will make his preseason debut, despite being a full participant in practice. Beckham hasn’t played since breaking his ankle last October, and he might not see the field until the regular season begins.“We try to be smart with it,” coach Pat Shurmur said. “He’s gotten so much work behind the scenes, we’ll just have to see how it plays out.”

If you checked out the Mile High Report roundtable, you’ll know that Drew Lock and the quarterbacks are front and center. But what about everything else?Obviously there’s still a lot to be determined. Coach Fangio has said that outside of 40 or so locked in guys the other roster spots are up for grabs. Tonight’s game could go a long way towards helping someone lock down a job in 2019. On the MHR Radio Podcast (ApplePodcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher), Adam Malnati and Ian St. Clair previewed the game with what and who to watch for. How things look as of August 7th, 2019. 1. Can Reed, Jones and Walker keep it up?If you read my observations after watching the Hall of Fame game, you’ll know I’m sky high on Malik Reed. He jumped out time and again against the Falcons and as I said Tuesday: he looks like a soft lock for the roster. DeMarcus Walker also had himself a game and currently looks like he’s in line to make the final cut to 53. Last year, Fangio’s Bears used sub packages almost 80 percent of the time, so Walker’s pass rushing acumen could be an asset inside after two years floundering under Vance Joseph. However, it’s worth noting that the Broncos’ head coach sounded like he needed to see more when asked about Walker’s performance. The Broncos look likely to carry four or five edge rushers, and six or seven defensive linemen. Things could still change over the next month. Jeff Holland, Justin Hollins and Aaron Wallace all showed up along the edge. If Fangio prefers a sturdier sixth man on the line, Mike Purcell showed out as a nose tackle type and has previous experience with the coaching staff. While Dre’Mont Jones is certainly making the Broncos roster, the more he flashes, the harder it’s going to be to keep him on the bench. 2. What linebackers will be left standing?More and more this position battle is looking like a war of attrition. Josey Jewell, Todd Davis, and Joseph Jones will all miss the Seahawks game with different ailments. While this could prove troubling in a month’s time, right now it presents a huge opportunity for the guys suiting up.Alexander Johnson currently looks like the closest thing to a lock among the remaining linebackers. He had a coverage gaff in the middle of the Hall of Fame game, but looked head and shoulder ahead of the younger players. Josh Watson also had some promising play and brings the kind of range neither Joe Dineen or Keishawn Bierria offer. Of course, anyone who’s watched linebackers for long will explain to you how a players anticipation and angles can make up for physical limitations. So don’t count anyone out just yet. 3. Where will Justin Hollins line up?It’s impossible to ignore Hollins as I think about the the other front 7 positions. He played a bit of both last week, and the coaching staff has expressed their desire to get him up to speed for both roles. I’m excited to see what he can do, and advise you to keep an eye out for 52.4. Does Booker play? When Elway and the Broncos’ coaching staff brought in Theo Riddick Joe Flacco Jersey , it became clear maybe one of the running backs logging the majority of snaps this preseason will make the active roster.Devontae Booker is the most experienced in that group after serving as the third down back in 2018. Rumors persist that he could be trade bait, so it will be interesting if and how he performs.5. What about RB4?Even if he does, the battle between Khalfani Muhammad and Devontae Jackson will be one to watch. Both are diminutive speedsters who will need to stand out on special teams as well as offense to stick to the active roster. Chances are good one makes the practice squad, but who will it be?6. What about the pass catchers?Relative to early camp expectations, no player had a more disappointing Hall of Fame game than Austin Fort. It’s hardly his own fault, as he’s an undrafted rookie just trying to keep his NFL dream alive. Rather, the hype coming out of camp had ballooned what I thought we’d see. Instead, he showed off impressive body control and a still developing frame. At present, he looks like an undrafted version of what the Broncos have in Noah Fant. That’s perfectly okay, and if the coaching staff keeps four tight ends he’s definitely still in the mix. Especially if the coaching staff gives up on Jake Butt and his knee issues. He’d do a lot to convince them if he can have a better game tonight. To do so he’ll need to continue looking like a reliable option in the passing game but show some strides as a blocker. He’s not going to get stronger overnight, but if he can show better footwork and body positioning it’d go a long way, flashing special teams value would also help.It continues to look like the Broncos will carry six or more receivers. Juwann Winfree is certainly a soft lock after a standout camp and a promising touchdown catch to cap off the Falcons game. Behind him it’s a free for all, and someone could go a long way toward securing a spot if they show out as a returner.7. Will any of the young linemen impress? Back during the first week of camp Vic Fangio mentioned that the team could carry eight, nine or 10 offensive linemen. Assuming the starting group is Bolles-Risner-McGovern-Leary-James, that could leave as few as three remaining spots for 11 players. I currently expect Elijah Wilkinson and Don Barclay to make the final 53 as they’ve played a decent bit in place of Leary and James. You start to see how the math isn’t doing any of the young guys favors. Jake Brendel is one to watch as he’s also spent time rotating in for Leary. Sam Jones is a local favorite and brings versatility to the interior positions, which could help him. Chaz Green served as Bolles backup last game, though I have serious questions about his pass set. It starts to get questionable really quick. This isn’t altogether surprising as most NFL teams have trouble digging up eight serviceable lineman, but with the health an ever present question for Leary it’d be nice for the Broncos and Mike Munchak to have some developmental talent.8. What about the DBs?It certainly looks like Horace Richardson is running away with that fifth corner spot. If the Broncos see Kareem Jackson as versatile enough to steer away from carrying a sixth corner, every other guy may be playing to unseat Richardson or make the practice squad. At safety it currently looks like a competition between Su’a Cravens, Dymonte Thomas and Shamarko Thomas. Cravens had a couple of nice plays around the line of scrimmage, but still made a gaffe in pass pro that left me wanting. Dymonte looks like the closest thing to a free safety among this group, while Shamarko brings the most special teams value. I wouldn’t sleep on him.Lastly, I’ve mentioned this a few times but the secondary is going to be an open question until it isn’t. A big reason for this is because I’m stuck watching broadcast cam, so 70+ percent of their play is off camera. Blame NFL Gamepass.9. How far off is Drew Lock? This is the question everyone wants to answer. Most in the media are going to frame the entire game around the Drew Lock-Paxton Lynch “battle.” Seriously, don’t be shocked if you’re drowning in QB coverage after the game. In 2018 Phillip Lindsay Jersey , the Baltimore Ravens traded back up into the first round of the draft with the Philadelphia Eagles to select QB Lamar Jackson with the 32nd overall pick. Flacco had to bat away rumors that his starting quarterback job was slipping into the hands of Jackson, until the rumors turned into facts on November 18, 2018. Injuries and lack of production seemingly forced the Ravens into making the decision to go with Jackson, and now Flacco’s fate in Denver doesn’t appear to be much different.Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsEnter 6’4”, 225-lb. QB Drew Lock out of Missouri. Fresh off a senior season that came nowhere close to the stat production of his junior year, Lock had taken a hit to his draft stock. The Denver Broncos saw an opportunity and took it, trading with Cincinnati to move into the 42nd slot to grab the top QB on John Elway’s draft board. The temptation was irresistible. Lock has since said all the right things. He knows he is the backup, yet his confidence and appearance have drawn comparisons to former Broncos’ QB Jay Cutler. Since trading up to snag Dalton Risner and Drew Lock back-to-back, the Broncos’ Day 2 haul has built momentum as one of the best in 2019.Drew Lock on people saying he reminds them of Jay Cutler: The Missouri product seems pumped and excited to get to work. The fact that Denver nabbed Lock in the second round of the 2019 draft, instead of the first, alleviates some of the pressure on Elway and Fangio to play Lock right away. This should give Flacco plenty of time to pick up the system and make a name for himself here in Denver early on, if he’s ever going to.Lock is anxious to embrace his new orange and blue threads, after growing up in Missouri and learning to hate those colors as a Chiefs’ fan. There will be doubters, as shown in the draft when Lock fell all the way to 42nd overall, after being seen as a sure-fire first rounder merely a season ago. Lock is ready to prove them wrong. The dynamic between how Denver uses Flacco and Lock will be closely monitored, and Flacco has made it known that he believes this is his team.It must be tough keeping a level head as you wait and watch teams pick other players, not knowing when your name will be called. However, Lock is embracing the opportunity in Denver, and there may not have been a better fit. Elway has compared the Broncos’ plan with their QBs to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Broncos Country is willing to be patient with that plan, as long as it results in a Super Bowl win, as it did for Rodgers in 2010.Five years is an awfully long time for Denver to wait for a Super Bowl. Some wonder if Elway will be around as the GM to see his final plan through, but a pattern is becoming clear in the way the Broncos draft their players. Joe Flacco’s task this year may be just as daunting as the one he faced a year ago, but the veteran Super Bowl MVP is not one to shy away from competition, and it doesn’t sound like the young Drew Lock is, either. This should be fun.

this week Derwin Gray Jersey 2019 , Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said that the team had “less urgent” needs as a result of free agency and that he was hoping to draft players who wouldn’t be needed on the field immediately. In the grand history of pre-draft press conferences being overstuffed with hot air, it took almost no time for the Steelers to make a move that flew in the face of those words. The team traded their second-round pick and a 2020 third-rounder to move from 20th to 10th in order to select linebacker Devin Bush. The move fills a need that the team has had since Ryan Shazier‘s spinal injury and Colbert called Bush a “unique football player” who wasn’t going to be around if they didn’t make a big move.“As an inside linebacker, his game is really predicated on what is needed to play the position in modern-day NFL football,” Colbert said Cheap Derwin Gray Jersey , via the . “He cannot only play the run he has exceptional cover abilities. We’re very, very excited to be able to move up and get a young player, a young man, like Devin Bush.”The last time the Steelers made a jump like that to take a defensive player in the first round Benny Snell Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , they took safety Troy Polamalu. Colbert would love to see this deal work out anywhere close to as well as that one. As someone who only found the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1983 and missed out on the glory days of the 1970’s, there is little doubt in my mind who was the greatest player I ever saw wearing the Black and Gold live in my 35+ years following the team. Drafted with the 10th pick of the 1987 NFL Draft, Hall of Fame cornerback Rod Woodson was not only the best defensive back of his era, but arguably one of the greatest cornerbacks of all-time. His departure in 1997 as a free agent after being lowballed by Pittsburgh devastated me as fan and seeing him play in the uniforms of the San Francisco 49ers Benny Snell Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders was heartbreaking to watch.Appearing as a guest on Undeniable with Dan Patrick on the A&T Audience Network last week, Woodson shared several stories about his life growing up and his time in the NFL. Revealing details of his time with the Steelers and the final phone call that caused him to turn his back on Pittsburgh, the interview is well worth a listen for all Pittsburgh fans. Conflicts about money would bookend Woodson’s career with the Steelers, starting with a 94-day holdout over his rookie contract and ending with a dispute over an extension in 1997. The Hall of Fame cornerback reveals how much he learned in Pittsburgh. While also sharing tales that would have social media up in arms if they happened today. Some might want to gloss over the parts about his years with the Baltimore Ravens Benny Snell Jersey 2019 , perhaps the most upsetting part of his career from a Steelers fan perspective and the only team he would earn a Super Bowl ring with. The full interview is 50 minutes long and can be found here.

Chris Harris Jersey , if/when the Broncos fire Head Coach Vance Joseph, he is expected to emerge as a potential head coaching candidate for the Cincinnati Bengals. The report also states Joseph is also a candidate for the Defensive Coordinator job which seems more likely. It has been long rumored that former Cleveland Browns Head Coach, Hue Jackson would be the one to replace Marvin Lewis in Cinci. Lewis is taking on a Front Office role and it appears the Bengals have their eye on a Jackson/Joseph pairing. Both coaches have worked as coaches in Cincinnati during their careers so it makes since that the Bengals would like Joseph back. Despite being a Head Coach for two seasons with the Broncos, Joseph only has one season of defensive coordinator experience under his belt. This is obviously another sign that the Broncos plan to part ways with Vance Joseph at seasons end and Schefter once again states that multiple sources expect that to happen. So it appears this is something already in motion and something that could progress quickly for both sides. September 17, 1990.Monday Night Football.Denver Broncos hosting the Kansas City Chiefs and its “Nigerian Nightmare.”Need I say more?Of course not. Because when a single football play has its own celebrated anniversary, you already know it was a special play. And if you’re any kind of Broncos fan - whether you watched it live or not - you know this play. It’s the play that could be used in every textbook to demonstrate Newton’s first law of motion: Every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force - aka, Steve Atwater. In fact, the “hit heard round the world” is so iconic that many people when they first meet the man behind it - Broncos safety Steve Atwater - often mention immediately, “oh, you’re the guy who hit Christian Okoye!” “It’s kinda cool Derek Wolfe Jersey ,” Atwater admitted. “I would imagine it’s not as cool for Christian as it is for me, but...that’s what football is sometimes.”Atwater and his team mentor Dennis Smith had watched film on Okoye the week before the game, and Smith told the protog茅 that the key was to hit Okoye “straight up” in order to bring him down.“I saw the hole open, and I hit it full speed, and I believe Christian was running full speed too, and fortunately...ahhh...I got him!” Atwater recalled this past season. “Bam! I just kinda lowered the shoulder, and boom! That was it.”That was definitely it.Come to think of it...that hit is also the perfect example of Newton’s third law as well: “For every action (force) in nature, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

This time around, our journey takes us through No. 50. We will answer such burning digital questions like:Will Le’Veon Bell’s gaudy stats place him as the all-time best two-sixer?Has James Conner grabbed the honor at his number in only two years? Is the No. 33 the numerals that has the most worthy competition? Can Willie Parker’s amazing accomplishments in a short amount of time give him the crown as the top No. 39?We will see. Let’s take a look.Part Two: Numbers 26-49Note: Years provided came from The Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 Media GuideNo. 26 CB/KR/PR Rod Woodson (1987-1996)Woodson spent ten years of his Hall of Fame resume’ in black-and-gold, but most Steelers fans still view him as the one that got away. The world-class hurdler thrived for seven more seasons in the NFL after departing Pittsburgh. It’s hard not to wonder if his leadership on defense would have brought another title to the City of Champions, especially in 1997. During his Steel Town tenure, Woodson was named All-Pro six times, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1993, three-time Steelers MVP and was included on the 75th Anniversary All-Time team. Rod holds the NFL record for most interceptions returned for touchdowns at 12. To illustrate how huge these numerals have been in Steelers’ history, Le’Veon Bell isn’t the best to wear the number for the franchise despite the gaudy offensive numbers he’s produced.Other Notables: Brady Keys 1961-1967, Deshea Townsend 1998-2009, Le’Veon Bell 2013-2017Current Wearer: LB Mark BarronNo. 27 S Glen Edwards (1971-1977)Edwards is another one of those 70s Steelers who gets overshadowed by the Hall of Famers of that era. Foster ran and received for nearly 5,000 yards and scored 28 times in Pittsburgh. The emergence of Bam Morris plus some nagging injuries hastened his departure in 1995. That record lasted 36 years before Willie Parker broke it in 2006 (Le’Veon Bell owns it today by virtue of his December 2016 performance in Buffalo). “The French Count” is the only man who knows the truth behind the Immaculate Reception. Fuqua, who remains mum on the subject and has turned down large sums to reveal, was the player for whom the fateful pass was originally intended. Even though Little had a long and successful career, Ryan Shazier accomplished a pretty amazing body of work in a small amount of time. The Steelers’ top pick in 2014 out of Ohio State had 299 tackles, seven sacks and seven interceptions. What he might have accomplished during a full career, we most likely will never know due to his career-threatening injury in 2017. Shazier was a field general on defense and his dominating performance against Cincinnati in the 2015 Wild Card Game made the victory possible by forcing two fumbles late in the game.Other Notables: LB John Reger 1955-1963, OL Jim Clack 1969-1977, LB David Little 1981-1992, Earl Holmes 1996-2001, LB Larry Foote 2002-2008 and 2010-2013Current Wearer: LB Ryan ShazierPhoto by Shelley Lipton/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="EF7GF0">Steelers Film Room: Top-10 NFL CBs don’t have games like Joe Haden did vs. the Ravens August 30, 2017 Derwin Gray Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , is when Pittsburgh Steelers fans rejoiced after Joe Haden was signed upon his release by the Cleveland Browns. The excitement roared up and down the BTSC boards. Fans were so excited to have a legit Pro Bowl cornerback come to town — a cornerback selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014, while amassing seven interceptions and 40 pass deflections over the span. Unfortunately, Steelers fans glossed over 2015 and 2016 when Haden didn’t play well while missing 14 games. His contract seemed reasonable at three years and $27 million. Haden’s 2017 low-ish salary of $3.2 million paid by the Steelers — with the Browns picking up the rest — pushed his total salary to $7 million due to the no-offset language in his contract. His annual contract makes him the nineteenth highest paid cornerback. The issue that a segment of Pittsburgh fans has with Haden is that he’s the eighth highest-paid cornerback this year following an injury-plagued and lackluster year. This year appears to be the same dog-and-pony show as the past three years. Haden couldn’t finish the first game of the 2018 season against his old team — then missed Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will the hamstring injury heal? Or will it cost Haden more games down the road like so many other soft-tissue injuries affecting aging cornerbacks? The Baltimore Ravens game optimized where Haden is at in this stage of his career.(I apologize but I didn’t put arrows designating Haden’s position in these videos. I had already uploaded the videos when I realized my blunder.)The first play by Haden that’s bothersome is his clear lack of interest during the run game. Does Haden look like he has any interest in putting a hat on the running back?Who takes the blame for the touchdown to John Brown? Fans can debate whether it is Cameron Sutton, Haden, Keith Butler or Mike Tomlin. Joe Haden is in his ninth year while Sutton is in his second. Haden has to take that leadership role by the horns and communicate who will cover who on the play. For those who think Haden is a solid cornerback, this play epitomizes why Flacco didn’t fear him and threw his way all night. Haden bit on the pump-fake but an inept Flacco missed out on a sure six.Haden is so worried about Brown’s deep speed he lets the speedy wideout get wide open on a crossing route. Brown had to slow down to make the reception, otherwise this would have been a long-gainer.Flacco sails another pass to Brown where he gained separation on Haden.Flacco throws deep down the seam to Brown — Haden makes a fine play but the only reason he’s even in the play is that Brown has to slow down.Flacco playing easy pitch and catch with Michael Crabtree while Haden fails to wrap him up, giving Crabtree the first down. The two cornerbacks at the top of the play are in man-coverage, and it can be assumed that Haden was in man as well. Yet again, a missed tackle. This was a crucial third-down conversion with the Steelers trailing by three late in the third quarter. If Haden was the Steelers second cornerback making a $5-million salary, fans wouldn’t have an issue with his play. But that’s not the case — he’s the top cornerback, making $12 million this year. Joe Flacco is an average NFL quarterback who had no fear in attacking Haden for four quarters. So what happens when an elite quarterback, Matt Ryan, locks onto Julio Jones (Jones leads the NFL with 502 receiving yards) on Sunday? Being viewed as the best cornerback in a bad secondary doesn’t mean Haden is close to being a top NFL cornerback worthy of the top-10 pay he’s receiving.

for Antonio Brown. As you might imagine Reggie Nelson Jersey , the Steelers took a more low-key approach. After announcing that they had acquired third- and fifth-round picks (66th and 141st overall) for one of the best players in football, they were emphasizing the future.“We have traded Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders,” General Manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement from the team. “We believe the compensation, which will now give us four picks in the first 83 selections and 10 overall in the upcoming NFL Draft can benefit our efforts to improve our team in 2019 and beyond.“Antonio remains one of the best players in the National Football League, but as we believe, this move was in the best interest of the Pittsburgh Steelers. We wish Antonio all the best the rest of his career.”Stressing the rebuilding of a receiving corps is normal Kolton Miller Jersey , but the Steelers have traditionally been able to backfill at the position — such as when they used a sixth-round pick in 2010 to take a kid from Central Michigan named Antonio Brown. Raiders coach Jon Gruden said recently that it’s hard to find a good pass rusher. His team is proving that.According to Chris Trapasso of the Buffalo News, using data compiled by Pro Football Focus, the Raiders are dead last in the NFL in pressure rate: The Raiders have faced 98 dropbacks this season and only pressured the opposing quarterback 19 times. That pressure rate of 19.4 percent is the worst in the league. The conventional stats tell the same story: The Raiders have recorded only three sacks this season, the fewest in the NFL. It doesn’t make Gruden look great when the Bears lead the NFL with 14 sacks, and the Bears’ best pass rusher, Khalil Mack P.J. Hall Jersey , is the man Gruden traded away before the start of the season. For his part, Gruden has shrugged his shoulders and asked where he’s supposed to find a good pass rusher.鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to find a great one. It鈥檚 hard to find a good one. It鈥檚 hard to find one,鈥?Gruden said. 鈥淐ollege football now, they鈥檙e not really dropping back to pass and throwing footballs anymore. They鈥檙e throwing laterals and they鈥檙e throwing bubble screens and they鈥檙e throwing read options. So you鈥檝e got to train these guys. It takes a little time to learn how to rush the passer.鈥滸ruden has to hope he can find a good pass rusher some day. The one he had is gone.

Raiders rookies had to be around veteran Raiders and also new free agency acquisitions Shilique Calhoun Jersey , and new Raiders safety Johnathan Abram was a little..."This week’s voluntary OTAs was one of the first chances Raiders rookies had to be around veteran Raiders and also new free agency acquisitions, and new Raiders safety Johnathan Abram was a little star-struck by playing alongside one of the veteran players Oakland brought in this offseason.Lamarcus Joyner is in the #29 jersey in this picture next to Abram, and they appear deep in conversation. I had to do a little digging to find out when Jeremy Pruitt coached Abram, but it was in Abram’s freshman year at Georgia when Pruitt was the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator. Georgia coach Mark Richt was fired and new coach Kirby Smart did not retain Pruitt, who went on to become the DC at Alabama and now is the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Abram transferred to Mississippi State for the remainder of his college career.Abram stood out as a small but hard-hitting safety with tremendous speed and playmaking ability, which is exactly what Joyner is as well. Joyner played safety at Florida State (which is presumably what film Abram was watching) and was one of the best and most dynamic safeties in the country when he was drafted by the Rams. Jeff Fisher, in his genius, used Joyner as a nickel corner, but it was Joyner’s return to safety in 2018 under Rams DC Wade Phillips that returned him to his former glory and made him such an attractive option for the Raiders in free agency. One imagines Joyner will do all of the above for the Raiders, but it’s Abram who looks to become that game-changing safety now, and with his particular skill set there are very few players he would be better served to work with than Lamarcus Joyner. With their 2019 opponents finishing 2018 with a .539 win percentage, no team has a tougher schedule on paper than the Raiders. They also lose a home game to London and have SEVEN GAMES that start at 10 am Pacific time (1 pm ET). Brutal. For a second straight season the Raiders will open up on Monday Night Football. They will face the Denver Broncos, who played the Raiders in their last game in Oakland last season, also on Monday night. You might recall that was an inspired victory in what many thought could be the last game ever in Oakland. In a rare instance, the Raiders open the season with back-to-back home games. Usually the league will schedule at least one road game in the first two weeks so less time will be spent playing on baseball dirt. Both games are against division foes too. After the Broncos, they face the Chiefs. Then they don’t face another division rival until mid-November when they host the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.Homesick. Following that two-game home stand to start the season, they won’t be back to Oakland for nearly two months. The Chiefs game is September 15. After that they play in Minnesota, Indianapolis, London (Bears), Green Bay, and Houston with a bye week in between before returning to Oakland on November 3 to face the Lions. No return of the Mack. The NFL is taking the Khalil Mack’s return to face his former team to London. Make no mistake, though, Mark Davis has a say in this. And it’s fairly obvious why he wouldn’t want the Raiders to face the guy they traded for two first round picks come to town and tear up the Raiders in front of the fans who used to adore watching him run out the tunnel onto the field in Silver & Black and wreck opposing QB’s.Hot(spur) take two. The game in London will be played at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Raiders scheduled a game there last year, but the stadium was delayed in construction and so the game had to be moved to Wembley. This will be the second of TWO games the Raiders will take internationally. They will also face the Packers in Canada (rumored to be Winnipeg) in week three of the preseason. If you count that preseason game in Canada, the Raiders will have sent six home games to international locations in six years (3 in London, 2 in Mexico City).Welcome home stand. Their return to Oakland will start a three-game home stand with the Lions on November 3 followed by the Chargers on Thursday Night Football and finishing up against the Bengals. Anticlimactic ending. The potential final game in Oakland will be in week 15 against.... the Jaguars?? After road games in New York (Jets) and Kansas City, the final home stand of the season, and at this moment in Oakland history will be against the Titans in week 14 and Jaguars in week 15. Ending their time in Oakland two weeks before the season is over against a non-division foe is certainly not how you would have expected or hoped their time in Oakland would end. A different Silver & Blackout farewell. The Raiders will face the Chargers in week 16 in what figures to be their final game at StubHub in Carson before they move into their new stadium with the Rams. What more fitting way to end it than with the usual blackout of Raiders fans in little StubHub. After that the two teams hope to be facing off in each other’s new digs in Inglewood and Las Vegas respectively. Though the Raiders Nation dominance will simply continue in Inglewood.Bookended by Broncos. The Broncos opened the season in prime time in Oakland and close it out in Denver. Follow @LeviDamien

to use their first-round choice on a player other than a quarterback. They listened Jake Butt Jersey , getting Flacco a tight end in Iowa’s Noah Fant in the first round. The Broncos got Flacco some protection in the second round, selecting Kansas State tackle Dalton Risner. But with the choice after Risner, No. 42 overall, the Broncos got their heir apparent in Missouri quarterback Drew Lock.He becomes the fourth quarterback the Broncos have drafted in the past five years as their search for a franchise quarterback continues.“I’m hoping that it allows us to let him grow,” Broncos General Manager John Elway said of taking Lock in the second round. “The expectation is not as high as it would be with a top-10 pick. That’s what he needs. He’s going to need that time and the patience and continue to work with it. He’s going to be able to watch Joe and how Joe works, and Joe has done it at a very high level for a very long time. He’s got a great guy to follow, watch, learn and see how it’s done.”It’s the second consecutive year Flacco’s team has drafted a quarterback with a high choice. The Ravens selected Lamar Jackson in the first round last year, and they traded Flacco to Denver in the offseason.Elway said he did not get a chance to call Flacco before or after drafting Lock Brendan Langley Jersey , but he reiterated that the starting job is Flacco’s.“I think the bottom line is he’s coming to compete as a backup. Joe’s the starter,” Elway said. “When we look at it, we’re hoping Drew is the future. But Joe is the starter, is going to be the starter and he’s going to battle. We tend to look at it as the Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers type situation [with the Packers]. He’s going to have time to sit and watch Joe and take his time and learn and continue to get better. We feel we’re in a good situation there. Plus, we had guys compete for backup positions and he’ll be thrown in that bunch.” ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)John Elway has changed his mind about adding another quarterback to the Denver Broncos‘ roster. The Broncos signed undrafted free agent Nick Stevens of Colorado State on Thursday, three weeks after Elway said he wouldn’t bring in a fourth passer for offseason workouts. After bypassing QBs in the NFL draft last month, notably Josh Allen and Josh Rosen with the fifth overall pick, Elway said he was satisfied with the group he had.Free agent Case Keenum was declared the starter when he signed with Denver in March and last month Elway said Paxton Lynch and Chad Kelly will compete for the backup role this summer.”We are not going to bring another one in for OTAs Carlos Henderson Jersey ,” Elway said on April 28 after wrapping up his 10-member draft class without adding another quarterback.Yet, for the second consecutive year the Broncos have added a local QB.Last year, it was Kyle Sloter of Northern Colorado, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings‘ practice squad after getting cut by Denver. Sloter, who split snaps with Trevor Siemian and Lynch in training camp, later was elevated to the Vikings’ 53-man roster. In four years at Fort Collins, Stevens threw for 8,554 yards with 70 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He completed 61.9 percent of his passes. The Broncos will enter the third phase of organized team activities next week when the offense lines up against the defense for the first time.—

to emerge The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the loser column after a poor performance vs. their divisional rival Dermontti Dawson Jersey , the Baltimore Ravens, at Heinz Field in prime time in Week 4. With the Atlanta Falcons coming into Heinz Field for a Week-5 matchup, the Steelers will need to improve on their 1-2-1 record. Something I did last season and I’m going to start again is the Black-and-Gold Links article. This is an article where I take stories from quality news sources across the Internet, and add them here for your viewing pleasure. I won’t be posting the entire articles, but I’ll link each story and author so that you can read the full article. Today we talk about how the Steelers are lacking a true No. 3 receiving option on offense. Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster are clearly No. 1 and No. 2, but someone else needs to emerge to help the offense click on all cylinders. In the past, it was Le’Veon Bell and/or Eli Rogers, but coming into the season it was James Washington who was expected to fill that role. Who will step up? Vance McDonald? Jesse James?Only time will tell...Let’s get to the news:Steelers looking for more production out of No. 3 WR James WashingtonBy: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewThrough four games this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten 60 catches for 688 yards from their top two wide receivers. After that, though, there’s been a precipitous drop-off. Ryan Switzer, James Washington, Justin Hunter and Darrius Heyward-Bey have combined for 110 receiving yards.Hunter has been inactive the past three games Jack Ham Jersey , Heyward-Bey has an ankle injury and the majority of Switzer’s receiving production has come when he lined up in the backfield as a de facto running back. So that leaves Washington, a rookie second-round pick, as the logical candidate for production from a Steelers receiver not named Antonio Brown or JuJu Smith-Schuster.Through four games, Washington has been limited to five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, but his usage has been trending up.“He’s starting to get (significant) snaps,” offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said.Washington played 47 of the Steelers’ 62 offensive snaps during this past Sunday’s loss to Baltimore. But he was targeted by just four of Ben Roethlisberger’s 47 passes (Brown and Smith-Schuster were 11 times each).Still, Fichtner insists Washington is getting open.“Sometimes he’s not always in a primary spot,” Fichtner said, “sometimes he is.“I don’t know if it’s anything in particular that we’re trying to do or not do, but he’s actually improved.”With Heyward-Bey not practicing thus far this week and looking as if he won’t play Sunday against Atlanta, Hunter might again earn a spot in the lineup.“He’s an option, no doubt,” Fichtner said.Tim Benz: Steelers don’t trust James Conner as much as they sayBy: Tim Benz, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewThe more the Steelers talk about James Conner Jack Lambert Jersey , the more they promote his attributes as a running back.If the coaches and players honestly believe what they are saying, it’s time they start buying into their own sales job.Because the numbers on-field don’t support the backing given to Conner between games.Without Le’Veon Bell as the go-to running back, the Steelers either can’t run or are afraid to try.Maybe both.Whatever the case, the Steelers rank 27th in yards per rushing attempt in the NFL and 28th in total rushing attempts. The hype surrounding Conner started in training camp when it became apparent Bell would be sitting out activities in Latrobe for a second straight year. Every offensive player or coach at Saint Vincent College drooled while gushing about Conner’s improved blocking, hands, speed, decisiveness, health and conditioning. The praise ramped up as it became apparent Bell wouldn’t be reporting in time for the season opener in Cleveland. Conner rewarded that praise by totaling 192 yards from scrimmage in that contest. He was excellent.Until that fumble in the fourth quarter that turned the game around.Maybe that was it. Maybe that’s the reason. Whatever the case, since that moment, the Steelers haven’t treated their running game with Conner the same as they used to with Bell. They’ll protest to the contrary, though.“James Conner has been really solid,” Mike Tomlin said Tuesday. “Both with the ball in his hands and without.”If that’s true, then he should get the ball more.Falcons are talking about AB, T.J. Mike Webster Jersey , Ben & moreWhen the Steelers take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Heinz Field it will be a matchup of two explosive offenses that are looking to get back on track and start stacking some wins.Falcons Coach Dan Quinn knows the weapons the Steelers bring to the table, starting with but not limited to Antonio Brown.“Right off the bat it’s the explosiveness their team has,” said Quinn. “As good and explosive as Antonio is, they have a full complement of guys they use at receiver and tight ends and backs. They make it very challenging because of the different guys they go to and the matchups. They have a full arsenal and full stable of guys they like to feature and use.”The Falcons also weighed in on JuJu Smith-Schuster, T.J Watt and more.Running back Devonta Freeman on Antonio Brown:“AB is explosive. You already know AB is explosive. I have nothing but respect for AB. I know his work ethic. I know him personally. I know where he comes from. I know he is a competitor. I know he likes to play. I know he likes to win. I know he likes to perform at a high level.”Quinn on what makes JuJu Smith-Schuster a difficult matchup:“He really finishes. With the ball in his hands, the finishing elements, the physicality. You can see in his background there is defense for sure. He’ll go and finish out. The speed is there, but there is speed with a number of the receivers in their offense. The speed in which they play. But the way JuJu finishes, the physicality, those are things that at the end of the catch, the end of the run, that he certainly caught my attention from a competitor. You better bring it because he certainly is.”Quarterback Matt Ryan on what he sees from the Steelers defense:“They’re some talented players at all levels of the defense. Cam (Heyward) in the front-seven – disruptive player, very physical, they’ve got some good outside linebackers in their base schemes come defensive ends and they’re sub-defense. Talented rushers Mel Blount Jersey , physical guys, very athletic. So they’ve got some good players on the backend. They’ve been dealing with some injuries across the board on defense but they’ve got some tough schemes to go against as players.” The Pittsburgh Steelers are approaching training camp, and we provide some potential predictions for the upcoming season" Latest NewsFeatures and Long FormChris Boswell will make at least 85 percent of his field goals in 2019New,9commentsThe Pittsburgh Steelers are approaching training camp, and we provide some potential predictions for the upcoming seasonEDTWith 5 days to go until the start of training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers, we continue our 30 predictions in 30 days series with another bold claim for 2019.Alternating daily between myself and BTSC Editor Jeff Hartman, we will offer our forecasts for the upcoming season. Some will be team oriented, while others will be specific to individual players. Posing an argument for and against our predictions, we invite you to weigh in on the debate as well.Following on from my last claim that the Steelers will beat the Cleveland Browns twice in 2019, I turn my attention toward the Steelers special teams unit.Prediction: Kicker Chris Boswell will makes at least 85 percent of his field goals in 2019.Why it will happen: While there can be no argument that the 2018 season was something of a disaster for Chris Boswell, his performances during his first three years in the league prove what he is capable of. The question now remains whether last season was merely an anomaly or an experience that has irreparably damage him going forward. No one but the kicker and the coaching staff know for sure if it was his mechanics or his mind that failed him last year, but Boswell appeared to suggest that it was a bit of both when talking to reporters this offseason. And while fixing his mechanics seems very achievable, repairing his confidence might take more time.Successful on 92.1 percent of his field goals in 2017, 84 percent in 201 6 and 90.6 percent in 2015 Troy Polamalu Jersey , if Boswell can put the 2018 season behind him and revert to this Pro Bowl for of the year before, making at least 85 percent of his kicks in 2019 is a realistic target. And while Boswell was not willing to use the groin tear that ended his season prematurely as an excuse, it is clear there were medical reasons for his struggles later in the year. Assuming he is now fully recovered, there is ever reason to expect him to be more accurate this season if accompanied by the right mindset. Why it won’t happen: NFL history is littered with the names of kickers who have briefly enjoyed success, only to wash out a few years later. The fact that the Steelers delayed payment of his roster bonus until after the final preseason game an obvious indicator of their concerns about his ability to bounce back.If Boswell was feeling the heat from the media and the fans in 2018 as the misses started to pile up, the criticism is likely to be even more intense this season. For a position that relies on confidence perhaps more than any other, a few missed kicks early on in the season could quickly make the pressure on Boswell unbearable. And should he be unable to convince the coaching staff to trust him after training camp, there is every chance Boswell might not even make it to a fourth season in Pittsburgh to begin with.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="X2swa1">What are your thoughts on this prediction? Do you think it will happen? Or are we crazy? Let us know by voting in the poll, and letting your voice be heard in the comment section below!
