Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson won’t play Wednesday night against the Buffalo Sabres, and coach Guy Boucher says he’s not expecting the defenseman to join the team for its final two games.
The Senators let Karlsson determine his playing schedule so he could be close to his wife after their baby was stillborn two weeks ago. Karlsson played the past four games after missing three of four.
Though he’s not anticipating Karlsson to play Tremaine Edmunds Bills Jersey , Boucher says he’s holding onto the possibility of the two-time Norris Trophy winner rejoining the team before Ottawa closes its season Saturday at Boston.
Ottawa has been eliminated from playoff contention and plays Friday at Pittsburgh.
Karlsson’s future in Ottawa is uncertain. Though he has one year left on his contract, the Senators are unsure if they can re-sign Karlsson to a long-term extension. They attempted to trade him this year.
Boucher also announced goalie Mike Condon will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a concussion in practice Tuesday.
He homered twice to back a strong start by Miles Mikolas and lift the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Molina’s two-run homer in the sixth inning off reliever Jeremy Jeffress gave St. Louis the lead and the Cardinals held on behind the solid pitching of Mikolas and four relievers.
Molina has five home runs in his last six games, including another two-homer game in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said the 35-year-old Molina has developed more power as he has grown older.
”He was such a young player when he came up,” Matheny said of Molina, who earlier this week set a major league record for most games caught with one team (now 1,762).
”You figured there was going to be room for improvement but the route he has taken is unique because you can’t always count on that kind of willpower. He’s as driven a player as I’ve ever seen.”
Marcell Ozuna led off the sixth with a line-drive single to center and scored on Molina’s shot to right-center, a ball that bounced off the top of the wall and into the St. Louis bullpen for a 3-2 Cardinals lead.

Mikolas retired 16 of the last 17 hitters he faced.
The Brewers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Jesus Aguilar and an RBI single by newcomer Brad Miller.
St. Louis closed the gap when Molina led off the second inning with a solo home run to right-center.
Brewers starter Chase Anderson did not yield another run in five innings, giving up two hits and striking out nine while walking four.
The Brewers had a big chance in the eighth when they loaded the bases with two outs on two hit batters and an infield single. Aguilar grounded out to shortstop against Cardinals reliever Sam Tuivailala to end the threat.
MILLER DEBUTS
The Brewers recalled infielder Brad Miller from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned struggling outfielder Domingo Santana.
Miller, acquired from Tampa Bay on June 10 in exchange for first baseman-outfielder Ji-Man Choi, was in the Brewers starting lineup at second base and had a bloop RBI single in his first at-bat.
Santana hit .278 last season for Milwaukee with 30 homers and 85 RBIs, but never got on track this season. He hit .249, with three homers and 17 RBIs in 189 at-bats.
Miller, who played 95 games at shortstop for Tampa Bay in 2016 Authentic Saquon Barkley Jersey , likely will play a utility role with Milwaukee.

Saquon Barkley got an incredulous look on his face when asked if he was hoping to play in the New York Giants' preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.
Hoping was not an option as far as the second overall pick in the NFL draft was concerned. The halfback from Penn State wants to play, even though the Giants cut back his workload last week, leaving many to wonder if he was a little dinged after 10 days of training camp.
Coach Pat Shurmur put the injury speculation to rest when talking to the media on Monday. He said Barkley is physically fine and the team is just managing his workload.
It seemed odd, though, on Saturday when the Giants didn't give Barkley a snap after limiting his carries a day earlier.
Shurmur downplayed it Cowboys Authentic Jerseys , saying the rookie has been getting plenty of work in drills not open to the media.
Barkley believes he is ready. He has worked hard, picked the brains of quarterback Eli Manning and veteran running back Jonathan Stewart, gotten to know his linemen and seems to have grasped the offense as well as can be expected for a newcomer.
Shurmur said the 21-year-old is making mistakes but learning from every one.
"Hoping? I plan to play," Barkley said Monday. Barkley isn't looking to gain a specific amount of yards or touchdowns. He wants to maximize every chance he gets and to have no missed assignments.

"Understand that expectations are going to be high, and don't worry about that," Manning said. "That's what you have a team for and you have a job to do. Defensive coordinator James Bettcher said Barkley has been a good test for his defense.
"There's no question," he said. The Tennessee Titans keep wrapping up their own players with defensive lineman DaQuan Jones the latest to reach agreement on a new deal keeping him on the roster.
The Titans announced Wednesday that they have agreed on a multi-year deal with Jones after reaching a new deal to keep right guard Josh Kline and signing defensive end David King to a one-year deal earlier in the day.
Tennessee also announced they tendered a contract to left guard Quinton Spain Authentic Kevin Hogan Jersey , a restricted free agent.

Jones wouldn’t shed much light on how the injury occurred.

Jones’ return overshadowed Bills starting receiver Kelvin Benjamin landing in hot water for questioning why the Carolina Panthers drafted him, and criticizing former teammate Cam Newton’s accuracy in an interview published in The Athletic on Friday.
“There’s a time and place for things like that. This was not one of them,” McDermott said. “I’ve spoken with Kelvin. And that’s now how I want us to handle things like that. So we’ll move forward as a team, and I’m hoping he’s already done that.”
Benjamin said he understood his coach’s concerns. In saying he doesn’t want to be a distraction to the team, Benjamin didn’t distance himself from what was published.
In the interview, Benjamin described being selected by the Panthers in the first round of the 2014 draft as being “a bad fit from the get-go.”
Without mentioning Newton specifically, Benjamin said he could have been more productive with “any other quarterback.” He then pinpointed several star quarterbacks, including Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, in saying they had the knowledge and accuracy of placing a pass to a spot that makes it easier for a receiver to catch the ball.

Former NFL player and general manager Matt Millen says he is being treated for a rare disease that has robbed his heart of most of its normal function.
The 60-year-old Millen told the Morning Call in Allentown Authentic Tommy Hunter Jersey , Pennsylvania that he has been diagnosed with amyloidosis, a life-threatening illness that may force him to seek a heart transplant. Millen said he has been receiving chemotherapy once a week to treat the condition that left his heart functioning at just 30 percent.

Even with temperatures in the mid-80s for the opening day of the Falcons rookie minicamp, wide receiver Calvin Ridley wore long sleeves under his red No. 18 jersey.
He just couldn't resist.
It's a freedom that was never allowed for skill position players in Ridley's college career under Alabama coach Nick Saban.
"Oh man, I didn't get to wear this in college so I had to do it," Ridley said. "Coach really didn't like us to wear long sleeves and I had to do it. I had to try."
As an NFL first-round draft pick , Ridley was enjoying some new-found flexibility during his first practice as a professional.

I don’t really look to impress other people. I just want to play well. I’ve never been the guy that everybody talked about, so it never really fazed me.”
Dubois most impressively has earned the trust of old-school coach John Tortorella enough to be the Blue Jackets’ No. 1 center at age 19. Tortorella uses Dubois as an example to show older players how to handle situations, an ultimate sign of respect from a Stanley Cup-winning coach who doesn’t hesitate to put him on the ice against opposing stars.

Big roles aren’t a problem for Matthews and Laine, who are key drivers of play for the Leafs and Jets. Toronto finally got going against the Bruins in large part because of Matthews, who said he felt an earthquake in his feet when he scored in Game 3 and let out a scream to match.
After Laine scored the tying goal in Game 1 against Minnesota in what became the Jets franchise’s first playoff victory, he motioned to fans for cheers before jumping into the glass. The Finnish winger is used to scoring goals – and a lot of them – but in the playoffs it’s even more special.
”It was maybe a little bit nicer,” Laine said. ”I was saving my goals and celebrations for the playoffs. Now I can celly (celebrate) a little bit harder.”

Two of the Patriots’ additions since then both played in the Super Bowl with other teams. Linebacker James Harrison won two rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers and defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois played on the San Francisco 49ers team that came up short against Baltimore in the Super Bowl at the end of the 2012 season.

None of the Eagles took a knee during the anthem in 2017.
One of the people set to attend the ceremony told The Associated Press less than half of the team’s 53-man roster planned to go. The person spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the decision.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney replied with his own statement, saying that he is ”equally proud of the Eagles’ activism off the field” and that the players ”represent the diversity of our nation – a nation in which we are free to express our opinions.”
”Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend,” Kenney said.
Last week, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said he would not attend the ceremony because he didn’t want to be part of a photo op and wanted ”to avoid being used as any kind of pawn.” In addition to Jenkins, defensive end Chris Long was the most outspoken player against going. Quarterback Carson Wentz had planned to attend.
It was unclear exactly what prompted the change of plans. The White House did not immediately respond to questions about what had sparked the decision and why the circumstances were different from other events honoring winning teams, which some players have boycotted.

Last season, Vice President Mike Pence left the 49ers game against the Indianapolis Colts after about a dozen San Francisco players took a knee during the anthem.
