The Giants announced that Manning had arthroscopic surgery Thursday to relieve some lingering discomfort in the ankle he sprained in the regular-season finale against Washington. The two-time Super Bowl MVP has been rehabbing the ankle for more than three months, but it was still bothering him. Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Charlotte, N.C., performed a debridement, removing dead, damaged, or infected tissue to improve the healing potential of the remaining healthy tissue. Manning expects to be able to run in six weeks. Manning is coming off one of his worst seasons. The 33-year-old who will be entering his 11th season threw a career-high 27 interceptions playing behind a decimated offensive line that allowed him to be sacked 39 times. He completed 317 of 551 passes for 3,818 yards and 18 touchdowns. His quarterback rating of 69.4 was his lowest since a 55.4 in his rookie seeason in 2004. Ecco Scarpe Scontate. "Im looking forward to the start of the off-season program on the (April) 21st," said Manning, who has started 151 consecutive games. "I will be in the weight room and in the meeting rooms so we can all learn the new offence. I got some good work in this week at Duke, and I think its smart to get this procedure done now so the ankle isnt an ongoing issue. Im eager to get to work with our new offensive coaches and system." The Giants will hold organized team activities May 28-30, June 2-3, June 5, June 9-10, June 12-13, and a mandatory minicamp June 17-19. Coach Tom Coughlin hired Ben McAdoo as the new offensive co-ordinator after Kevin Gilbride retired after last season. There also is a new quarterback coach, Danny Langsdorf. The Giants (7-9) scored 294 points, the lowest total of the Tom Coughlin era. They finished 28th in the NFL in total yards (307.5 a game), 29th in yards rushing per game (83.3) and 30th in yards per carry (3.5). New York has missed the playoffs the past two seasons. ' ' '

With the 2014 CFL Draft set to take place next Tuesday in Toronto, CFL on TSN analyst Duane Forde breaks down the top prospects. Nike Zoom Clearance . Today, he looks at the defensive line. 1. Evan Gill (DT, Manitoba) You Should Know: He has grown up around the Bisons program, as his grandfather, Pat Gill, was the team manager for forty years and his mother, Denise, is the current manager. The Good: He had a tremendous season, earning one of two CIS invitations to the prestigious East West Shrine Game in Florida. The Bad: Expected to shine, his on-field performance at the CFL Combine was underwhelming. He had added muscle to his frame but seemed to lack his usual explosion. 2. Dylan Ainsworth (DE, Western) The Good: He is remarkably athletic for a defensive lineman, with his scores on the movement tests actually stacking up well against the top linebacker prospects. This should allow him to contribute immediately on special teams. The Bad: Hes a little light for a defensive end but currently lacks the experience playing in space to be a linebacker. Keep in mind, however, that theres plenty of time for development, as hes one of the youngest players in the entire draft class. 3. Quinn Smith (DT, Concordia) The Good: He turned in the breakout performance of CFL Combine weekend, running a 4.82 40-yard dash at 300 lbs., and completely dominating the one-on-one session. The Bad: A failed drug test at the Combine for the banned substance Stanozolol casts doubt on much of what he achieved that weekend. 4. David Ménard (DE/DT, Montreal) The Good: The 2010 RSEQ Rookie of the Year was third among draft eligible players in the 2013 CIS sack race (8 sacks in 8 games) and won the bench press competition at the CFL Combine (33 reps). The Bad: Although he posted solid numbers last season, his most productive college season was his first, raising the question of whether he is already approaching his ceiling. 5. Nigel Romick (DE, Saint Marys) The Good: Hes 65", 240 lbs. and moves very wellThe Bad: He may be the ultimate "tweener", with the body type of a defensive end, skill set of a tackle, and many scouts projecting him as a linebacker. Other Contenders:• Mathieu Girard (DT, Montreal) – 64", 290 lbs.; among national leaders with 16.5 sacks over last two seasons; missed CFL Combine due to injury; also a highly regarded long snapper• Dylan Roper (DE, Simon Fraser) – high motor; 6 sacks in 2013; 27 bench press reps at CFL Combine• Derek Wiggan (DE, Queens) – 61", 250; smart, technically sound player is a three-time OUA All-Star• Kirby Fletcher (DT, Acadia) – 63", 300 lbs.; two-time AUS All-Star• James Tuck (DE, York) – at 511", 225, a shift to LB is likely; athleticism and effort make him a strong special teams candidate Also on the Radar (alphabetically): Sanmi Adereti (St. Francis Xavier), Shaquille Armstrong (Concordia), Ranji Atwal (Manitoba), Michael Dadzie (Regina), Vincent Desloges (Laval), Adam Dickson (McMaster), Jeffery Finley (Guelph), Jean-Christophe Gagnon (Sherbrooke), Steven Giang (Alberta), Pacome Matulu (Manitoba), Stephon Miller (Windsor), Ryan Northfield (Western), Martin Pesek (Acadia), Ben Rush (Saskatchewan) Analysis: When news of Quinn Smiths positive drug test broke, the immediate question that arose was "How will this affect his draft stock?" The Concordia Stingers defensive tackle will likely be negatively impacted for two reasons – trust and doubt. In pre-draft interviews, teams frequently ask questions along the lines of "Would you ever use an illegal substance if you knew it would help you make the team?" or "Whats the biggest secret youve ever kept about yourself?" If Smith was, in fact, asked those questions, he likely didnt respond by saying, "Yes," and "I took Stanozolol," - a perceived deception that might lead to a lack of trust from some teams. The second, and I believe far stronger, reason why this incident will hurt his stock is simply the doubt now cast upon a Combine performance that directly led to Smith replacing Gill as the top defensive line prospect in the Canadian Scouting Bureaus most recent rankings. Rest assured that all nine CFL scouting staffs have already asked themselves whether Stanozolol or hard work was the biggest contributor in Quinn Smith shaving three-tenths of a second off his 40-yard dash time and adding five reps to his bench press performance since last Mays East West Bowl. As for the question of how much his stock drops, I anticipate that teams will downplay the trust factor but will be left with no choice but to eliminate his CFL Combine performance from their evaluation of him. The net result would have Smiths stock landing right back where it was pre-Combine, which is as one of the top three defensive tackles on most boards. I dont envision him being "penalized" beyond that by a community of general managers who have historically welcomed players who have committed far worse transgressions. Another, less controversial discussion surrounding the D-Line group revolves around the difference between drafting tackles and ends in the CFL. The simplified explanation of this is that non-import tackles have a role on every teams defence, whether as starters or backups, and any potential to contribute on special teams is viewed more as a bonus than an expectation. In terms of projecting how a tackle prospect will fit into the CFL, there are always plenty of "comparables" among current or recently retired CFLers at that position to make the process easier. For Canadian defensive ends, like Dylan Ainsworth, however, things are a little more complicated. The main issue is that only a handful of CIS-trained defensive ends ever get the opportunity to play that position regularly in the CFL. There are, of course, exceptions but the concern is that typically, upon reaching the CFL, the top pass rushing ends in Canadian university football are considered either (a) not explosive/athletic enough to play end but too small to move inside to tackle or (b) too small to play end but not athletic enough to play in space as a linebacker. In fact, over the last 25 years, the only non-import draftees who have emerged as consistent impact players at defensive end are Leroy Blugh (7th overall, 1989 Draft), Brent Johnson (20th, 2000 as a redshirt junior), and Ricky Foley (4th, 2006). Considering that Johnson was selected after playing four years at Ohio State and Blugh was actually drafted as a linebacker and later moved to end, that makes Foley the lone CIS-trained defensive end to excel at the same position in the CFL. Revisiting the 06 Draft, part of Foleys value to the B.C. Lions, who selected him, was that they already had an established non-import starting end in Johnson. His backup, Nautyn McKay-Loescher was entering the option year of his contract so B.C. needed depth at the position. Other teams may have been less likely to pick him that early. In terms of size and athleticism coming out of the CIS, Ainsworth comes as close to Foley as any defensive end prospect in recent years and his draft stock will vary from team to team, like Foleys did, depending upon whether they project him as a future starting DE, a backup DE and full-time special teamer, or as a linebacker. In a draft where there are few certainties, I would anticipate Ainsworth being chosen in the Top 10 and given an opportunity to compete and develop as an end. Nike Zoom Buy Online . No such luck. Its been a successful Games for Canada, which will finish near the top of the medal standings again. From repeat gold medal winners to multiple medal winners to undefeated teams to acts that define the Olympic spirit, there are many solid candidates who could be considered to receive the honour. Who do you think should carry the flag for Canada on Sunday? Four years ago, Alexandre Bilodeau made history by winning Canadas first Olympic gold medal on home soil. He followed that up by defending his title in moguls this year. He is set to retire at seasons end so this would be a fitting way to honour his accomplishments. Bobsledders Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse also won gold in Vancouver, a first in the womens event, and earned their way back to the top of the podium again in Sochi. Jennifer Jones and her rink from Winnipeg didnt lose a game in womens curling, going 9-0 in the round robin before beating Great Britain and Sweden in the playoffs. Canada has shown well in curling since its inception into the Olympics as an official sport in 1998 but has yet to have a flag bearer from the sport. "Were going to have that little OR — Olympic record — next to our name forever," Jones said after the final game. "Its one of those records that can only be tied and never broken. Well always be remembered." Speed skater Denny Morrison has been the lone Canadian athlete to win multiple medals in individual disciplines, taking the silver in the 1,000m event and bronze in the 1,500m. However, if not for the unselfish act of teammate Gilmore Junio, Morrison may have come up empty in Sochi. Junio stepped aside to llet Morrison race the 1,000m event and the move paid off for Canada. Nike Zoom Online Shop. Morrison then went on to win his bronze medal but it all started with Junio putting the team before himself. "People talk about it as being a huge sacrifice, but I dont see it that way," Junio said. "It was such an easy decision. It was such a simple decision for me. It was about giving Canada a chance to win a medal." It was actually Morrison who started a campaign on Twitter to have Junio carry the flag. "@cdnhappygilmore for Closing Ceremonies flag bearer! This guy showing everything that is Canadian pride and Olympic Pride. #ThankYouGilmore," Morrison tweeted as the #GilForFlagBearer campaign gained popularity. Along the same lines, theres Justin Wadsworth, the cross-country skiing coach who ran onto the course to help a Russian skier who had broken a ski. "I wanted him to have dignity as he crossed the finish line," Wadsworth said. That is the essence of good sportsmanship. The Dufour-Lapointe sisters captured Canadians attention on the first day of competition with Justine winning the gold and Chloe the silver in moguls skiing. And then theres hockey. Forward Marie-Philip Poulin and goaltender Shannon Szabados were key players in Team Canadas march to gold, especially in Thursdays riveting come-from-behind overtime victory. And what if the mens team were to follow suit on Sunday? Should Sidney Crosby or Carey Price warrant some consideration? There are many great candidates who have stood out among the throng of superb athletes in Sochi these past two weeks. But only one individual can carry the flag. Who do you think should have the honour of carrying Canadas colours into the stadium on Sunday? As always, its Your! Call. ' ' '

Winnipeg Jets 4 Vancouver Canucks 3 (Jets 26-25-5, home 14-11-4) – Winnipeg Jets made it seven wins in their last nine games with the win and for now move to within six points of the Canucks, who hold down the final playoff spot. Under Armour Shoes Cheap Online . The Jets jumped into a quick 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Zach Bogosian (3rd) and Devin Setoguchi (9th) 1:05 apart. Toby Enstrom and Andrew Ladd drew assists on the Bogosian goal, a point shot that seemed to dip and get by former Moose goaltender Eddie Lack. It was only the third time in the last nine games the Jets scored first. A great pass by Dustin Byfuglien led to the Setoguchi goal, with Mark Scheifele also assisting. Scheifele now has 12 points in his last 12 games. The Canucks got a power play goal from Alex Edler to make it a 2-1 score after the first, the Jets outshooting Vancouver 15-7. The Canucks tied the game at 4:48 of the second with an unassisted goal, but less than two minutes later the Jets had the lead back on Michael Froliks 11th of the year. Ladd with his second assist of the game and Bryan Little were also in on the goal. Shots on goal in the second were 13-10 Jets. Lack was the star of the second with at least four outstanding saves, two off Scheifele on great feeds from Blake Wheeler. The Canucks played with desperation in the third and dominated the early going, but it was now Ondrej Pavelec coming up with some big saves to keep the Jets in front. At 11:50 Jason Garrison with a bomb from the point scored his 6th of the season to tie the game, setting the stage for Setoguchi to get the winner. He fired a low shot to the far corner from the right side for his second of the game and 10th of the year. It was a great set up by Jacob Trouba who picked up his eighth point in the last eight games. Setoguchi becomes the ninth Jet to hit double digits in goals, tying the Jets for the NHL lead in that category. It was Pavelecs 10th start in the last 11 games and he upped his record to 6-2 in the last eight. Final shots were 34-26. In the game against Nashville Predators on Tuesday, Setoguchi took a costly penalty, in this game he scored the winner. "Really happy for him, its been a tough stretch of games and I always want to have those players have an opportunity to respond for their teammates." said Coach Paul Maurice. The Jets passing was very sharp in the first half of the game. "For 30 minutes we had better looks than in any other game weve played. Had great chances." On the Canucks chances. "What were trying to do will come back and bite us sometimes but were going to stick with it. Theres going to be parts of the game they are going to control, we just have to manage it. Our compete level is high, our resiliency is really good." For the third straight game Bogosian led the Jets in ice time, Frolik led in shots on goal with five. Trouba was a plus two and leads the team at plus 10. Jets again were over 30 hits with Byfuglien leading the way with six. It was the Jets final home game before the Olympic break, as they prepare for a four game road trip starting in Montreal Sunday afternoon (TSN 1290). The 26-year old Bard, a key part of the back end of Bostons bullpen from 2009-11, has battled control problems the last two seasons. The Red Sox recalled recently acquired Quintin Berry as part of their September call-ups Sunday. Berry was picked up in a minor-league trade with Kansas City last week. Bard has bounced around the minors this season, struggling with his control for most of his outings. In his recent outing for Single-A Lowell on Saturday night, Bard walked four and had a wild pitch, but a pickoff at third prevent him from giving up a run. "We felt like performance was going to lead to confidence," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "But I thought in spring training there were some outings that were not far off to where he was previous, whether it was a year or two prior, and I felt like as he was building a little momentum, felt like there was still one step yet left to make with him, in terms of just the power and the consistency to it. It looked like he was on his way. Unfortunnately, it didnt happen. Cheap Wholesale Under Armour Shoes. " Bards desire to start was fulfilled last season by GM Ben Cherington and then-manager Bobby Valentine, but it turned out to be a tough run for the right-hander. He was 5-6 with a 6.22 ERA in 17 games, 10 starts, and spent a large amount of the second half of the season at Triple-A Pawtucket. When he came up in 2009, Bard had a high-90s fastball and a sharp curve, making him one of the games more effective set-up men. But his control became an issue last season. "To have that kind of power and that kind of ease in which he threw, and the breaking ball he had in addition to the 98 to 101, or whatever it was (fastball), yeah, he was as good as there was in the game," Farrell said. If he clears waivers, Bard could go back to the minors because he has an option left. In other moves, Boston called up catcher Ryan Lavarnway and right-handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A. Utility infielder John McDonald, acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies for a minor league pitcher on Saturday, was added to the 40-man roster and infielder Brandon Snyder was activated from the 15-day disabled list. TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay guard Carl Nicks and kicker Lawrence Tynes are being treated for MRSA infections. Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik confirmed Thursday that Nicks has an infected blister on the side of his left foot and Tynes has an infected toe on his right foot. MRSA is a staph infection that is resistant to some antibiotics. The cases were diagnosed last week while the Bucs were in New England holding joint practices with the Patriots before a preseason game. The team hired a company to sanitize One Buc Place, the teams training facility, last week. A second cleaning has been scheduled as a precaution. "Our primary concern is always the health and safety of our players and staff," Dominik said in a brief statement issued by the team. "Our players were informed of the situation and we sought the advice of experts, including the NFLs medical advisor, who provided counsel and approved of our comprehensive measures including the treatment of our practice facility." The entire roster was informed of the infections Monday. The Bucs said they dont know where Nicks and Tynes, who did not travel to New England, were exposed to MRSA. Both players are responding to treatment, and the club said no other MRSA infections have been discovered among teammates. Nicks, an All Pro two years ago with the New Orleans Saints, has been recovering from surgery on his left big toe and has not played this preseason. He made the trip to New England, practiced, but did not play in the game. Tynes, who helped the New York Giants win a pair of Super Bowls, signed with the Bucs before training camp, but has been sidelined the entire preseason by an ingrown toenail on his kicking foot. NEW YORK -- This nicely sums up Tommy Rees Notre Dame career. China NFL Jerseys . The senior threw for 319 yards and no interceptions in his final college game, leading No. 25 Notre Dame to a 29-16 victory against Rutgers that was far from pretty but ultimately successful -- and an offensive lineman won the MVP award. "I was giving Tommy a hard time," said senior tackle Zack Martin, who took home the award. "I think he got snubbed a little bit." Rees finished four years of football for the Fighting Irish packed with both memorable and forgettable moments with a solid performance, going 27 for 47. He has been "The Closer," rallying Notre Dame to victories with late drives, and "Turnover Tommy," making crushing mistakes at the most inopportune times during his time in South Bend, Ind. For his finale, against one of the worst pass defences in the nation, Rees was mistake free and productive. He missed some throws that could have broken open the game, but, typically, he persevered. "Im a Tommy Rees fan for life," coach Brian Kelly said. Kyle Brindza kicked five field goals for the Fighting Irish (9-4), who completed their follow-up season to last years run to the national championship game a long way from the BCS -- facing a two-touchdown underdog that was trying to avoid a losing record. Notre Dames play was less than inspired -- Kelly said about a dozen players were fighting a flu bug -- but the win prevented the Irish from finishing with eight victories for the third time in his four seasons. "A good season that could have been a great season," Kelly said. Notre Dames TJ Jones scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter and Rutgers star Brandon Coleman answered with a 14-yard touchdown catch soon after. Tarean Folstons 3-yard touchdown run with 3:38 in the fourth made it 26-16 and finally gave the Irish a comfortable lead. On the slick turf at Yankee Stadium, the Pinstripe Bowl turned into a field-goal kicking contest. Brindza was 5 for 6. Kyle Federico made 3 of 3 for the Scarlet Knights (6-7). The Irish dominated in yards (494-237) and time of possession (38:49) but bogged down in the red zone repeatedly. "I loved the way we were able to stay calm and stay within our offence and continue to kind of monotonously move the ball down the field," Rees said. Twice Notre Dame put together double-digit play drives that ended in short field goals for Brindza. A 15-play, 90-yard march that started in the third quarter and ended in the fourth with Brindzas 25-yarder made it 19-13 Notre Dame with 12:46 left. "I love the fourth quarter," Brindza said. "Thats pretty much what a kickers job is supposed to be." Brindzas third field goal, a 26-yarder with 6:03 left in the third quarter, gave Notre Dame a 16-13 lead -- after the Irish caught a break. Brindza had missed from 36 yards but Rutgers was flagged for running into the kicker to give him a second, easier, try. "We thought we played good red zone defence and we could make them kick a few field goals and attempt some field goals, maybe we could block one and then win the game in the fourth quarter," Rutgers coach Kyle Flood said. "We were kind of poised to do that." Senior quarterback Chas Dodd, whose career has been similar to Rees in terms of ups and downs, finished with 156 yards passing for Rutgers. "What we saw with their defence was just what we knew we would see," Dodd said. "We had a game plan ready to attack it. We just werent able to because of our execution." Notre Dame improved to 17-6-3 at Yankee Stadium, though this ballpark in the Bronx is only a few years old and across the street from where the original House that Ruth built sat for decades. "Its great to be in New York," Kelly told what was left of bowl record crowd of 47,122 during the postgame trophy ceremony on the field after the Irish had sung the alma mater with the band in right-centre field, near the Yankees bullpen. The Fighting Irish played the first football game in the new stadium back in 2010. Rees, a freshman then, helped the Irish beat Army and got to use Derek Jeters locker. Called upon to lead the Irish this year after Everett Golson was suspended from school for academic cheating, Rees became the third Notre Dame player to surpass 3,000 yards through the air in a season. Rees will next play in the East-West Shrine Game, trying to impress pro scouts. "Hes going to keep chasing that football dream," Kelly said. "But I told him hes got a bright future as a graduate assistant for Brian Kelly anytime." Cheap NFL Jerseys Free Shipping . The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to re-sign defensive end Brett Keisel to bolster a reconfigured line that has struggled to produce much of anything in the first two weeks of the preseason. Keisel posted on his Twitter feed Tuesday "I am very excited to finish what I started in 2002 with the @steelers. Time to get to work!!" The Steelers decided not to re-sign Keisel in the off-season after the 35-year-old finished with four sacks in 12 games in 2013. Pittsburgh drafted Stephon Tuitt in the second round and signed Cam Thomas as a free agent as part of a youth movement along an aging defence. While Tuitt has been solid during preseason, Thomas has yet to make an impact. Keisel, who turns 36 on Sept. 19, was effective when healthy last season. But with the team up against the salary cap he wasnt going to command anywhere near the $4.9 million cap number he received last year. Its unclear how much of a pay cut Keisel will receive, though the Steelers have a little money to play with after signing kicker Shaun Suisham and right tackle Marcus Gilbert to new contracts during training camp. The Steelers are trying to restore some of the lustre to a defence that finished 13th in total yards in 2013 — the units lowest ranking this millenniumm. Wholesale Stan Smith. Though rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier put together a remarkable debut in a win over Buffalo last weekend — racking up 11 total tackles and an interception in barely a half of work — the rest of the defence has been so-so so far. The Steelers allowed a 73-yard touchdown run to New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings and let the Buffalo starters roll up 212 yards (but no touchdowns) last weekend. Where Keisel might fit into defensive co-ordinator Dick LeBeaus plans remain unclear. Hell join a crowded, but disjointed situation along the line. Cam Heyward will start at one end in LeBeaus intricate 3-4 scheme, but no player has distinguished himself at the other end. That leaves plenty of room for Keisel to get back to the spot where he helped the Steelers to a pair of Super Bowl victories. He became a fan favourite later in his career, growing a thick beard each year then shaving it off when the season was over for charity. He parlayed the beard into a line of salsa and his "Shear The Beard" event became a highlight on the social calendar in Pittsburgh. The only thing Keisel is concerned about now, however, is getting a team looking to shake off consecutive 8-8 seasons back to the playoffs. "Theres no place like home," Keisel tweeted while announcing his return. ' ' '

NEW YORK, N. Discount Shoes Online Free Shipping .Y. - NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell did not rule out the possibility of former Ravens running back Ray Rice returning to play in the league after serving a suspension for domestic violence. "But he would have to make sure that we are fully confident that he is addressing this issue clearly, he has paid a price for the actions that hes already taken," Goodell said in an interview with CBS that aired Tuesday. Two videos, one released Monday by TMZ Sports and another shown later to The Associated Press by a law enforcement official, show Rice punching Janay Palmer — who is now his wife — in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino in February. Goodell said the league asked for, but was not given, that video — and that "no one in the NFL, to my knowledge" had seen it — before it was posted online. "We had not seen any videotape of what occurred in the elevator. We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity," he said. After it was posted Monday, the Ravens cut Rice, and the league barred him indefinitely. In July, after TMZ released a video showing what happened outside the elevator, but not inside it, Goodell suspended Rice for two games. "We certainly didnt know what was on the tape," Goodell said. "What we saw in the first videotape was troubling to us, in and of itself. But what we saw yesterday was extremely clear, is extremely graphic, and it was sickening," he told CBS. "And thats why we took the action we took yesterday." Wholesale Shoes China Free Shipping . -- Darrelle Revis says at least 26 teams called after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Los Alamitos, CA (SportsNetwork. Air Max 97 Scontate .com) - Eclipse Award contender California Chrome went to the track Friday morning at Los Alamitos for a workout ahead of a 2015 campaign. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner worked a half-mile in 49 seconds with his regular rider Victor Espinoza in the saddle. The chestnut colt, trained by Art Sherman, will start in the $500,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita on Feb. 7. It was just what we were looking for, said Alan Sherman, Arts son and assistant. It makes me feel good to know I can run him on the grass. Just another option, Art Sherman noted after the victory. California Chrome finished third in the Breeders Cup Classic on Nov. 1 just a neck behind winner Bayern and runner-up Toast of New York. Early this year he posted three straight wins at Santa Anita in the California Cup Derby, San Felipe Stakes and Santa Anita Derby before taking the first two legs of the Triple Crown. He was fourth in the Belmont Stakes and sixth to Bayern in the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing on Sept. 20. California Chrome has banked $4,222,650 from 16 career starts with nine wins. What the Wolverines didnt know is that theyre a lot more resilient than they might have realized. Nik Stauskas scored 26 points, including seven in overtime, as No. 14 Michigan erased a 16-point second-half deficit to beat Florida State 82-80 Friday in the island tournament. The win earned the Wolverines (4-1) a spot in Sundays championship game against Charlotte, which beat Northeastern 86-77 in the other semifinal. "I think we just didnt want to go home with another loss on our chest. We came together as a team," Michigan guard Derrick Walton Jr. said. "We stayed together the whole time and possession after possession we got stops and it paid off at the end." Walton Jr. added 15 points and Mitch McGary had 14 points and 12 rebounds in his third game back from a back injury. McGary logged 33 minutes and went just 6 for 15 from the field, but kept the Wolverines competitive inside against the much bigger Seminoles front line. "Tonight was a battle. I think we stuck together as a team and showed our core values tonight," McGary said. "Going in at halftime we were down 10 and we still had a positive attitude toward the game, we just knew we needed to get stops each possession. "Theres not a 10-point basket we could use to get back in the game. We just had to grind it out each possession and thats that we did," he said. FSU (4-1) had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, but a midcourt heave by Aaron Thomas bounced off the backboard. Ian Miller had 19 points to lead four Seminoles players in double figures, but he had just three after halftime. Okaro White added 18 points and Montay Brandon chipped in 14 in the Seminoles first loss of the season. Coach Leonard Hamilton said he thought Michigans change to a 1-3-1 zone defence disrupted not Miller, but the flow of his entire team. He also said that self-inflicted mistakes when players dribbled off their feet or stepped out of bounds late in the game were too much to oveercome. Air Max 97 Ingrosso. "It made us tentative, we were not nearly as aggressive and then on the defensive end they did a very good job of attacking the basket and getting to the foul line," Hamilton said. "We tried to attack the basket and we couldnt get to the foul line ... they deserved this victory today." Michigan came out aggressive in overtime, with Stauskas scoring six of the Wolverines first eight points. He made one of two foul shots with 1:17 to play to put Michigan up 80-77. The Seminoles misfired on two possessions that could have tied it, and Walton made a pair of free throws to make it 82-77 with 14.8 seconds left. FSU wasnt finished, though. Miller broke a second half scoring drought with a 3-pointer that made it 82-80 with just 5 seconds remaining. After trailing by double figures for most of the second half, the Wolverines got a steal and 3-pointer by Spike Albrecht to cut the lead to 56-51 with 9:04 to play in regulation. Brandon scored six straight points for FSU to make it 63-54, before a basket by Stauskas got the Wolverines back within seven. Walton then got loose under the basket a few possessions later and was fouled as his layup dropped through to make it 64-58 with 3:52 remaining. He hit the free throw to complete the three-point play. The Wolverines kept scrapping and got a 3-pointer from Robinson to pull back within 67-63. Robinson then got a strip on defence and was fouled on the fast break. He hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to just a basket. Two foul shots on the other end by Devon Bookert put FSU back up by four, but it went right back to 69-67 on a two free throws by Stauskas with less than a minute to play. FSU took the shot clock down, but Bookerts 3-pointer from the corner was long. Michigan coach John Beilein said his team will only get better, and expects McGary to continue to be a key cog in that development. "You could see it a couple of times he wasnt ready for the 33 minutes," He said. "Hes so far (away), his timing and all those things are so far off. But he gives us some energy and some rebounding that few people in the country have right now." Regina, SK - The first week of the 2014 CFL regular season draws to a close tonight when the defending Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders take the field against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Mosaic Stadium. David Luiz Jersey . Watch the action live on TSN and TSN GO at 7pm et/4pm pt. This is a replay of the 101st Grey Cup from November, when the Roughriders delivered a convincing 45-23 thrashing of Hamilton in front of nearly 45,000 fans. The Riders, led by head coach Corey Chamblin, would like nothing more than to get off to the same type of start that they had a year ago when they rattled off five straight victories and captured eight of the first nine outings overall. The team did stumble slightly down the stretch with back-to-back defeats to close out the regular season and suffered a four-game slide during the month of September, but the club proved to be resilient, finishing 11-7 overall, but taking home the Grey Cup when all was said and done. The third-leading passer in terms of yards last season with 4,154, Darian Durant is back under center for Saskatchewan as it begins the quest for back- to-back titles, something that has happened only once in the last 15 years. Durant, who has been with the Riders for his entire nine-year CFL career, tossed a personal best 31 touchdowns and finished with an efficiency rating of 95.7. In 2013, Durant had a trio of top-notch receivers who he relied heavily on, but one of those, Weston Dressler has since signed with the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL, leaving Chris Getzlaf and Taj Smith to carry more of the load this time around. All three posted at least 1,000 yards through the air, with Dressler leading the way with nine touchdowns. However, Getzlaf and Smith both landed in the end zone seven times and the former averaged a hefty 16.6 yards per catch. Another major change for the Riders is the departure of running back Kory Sheets, the most valuable player of the Grey Cup, as he signed with the NFLs Oakland Raiders. Sheets was second in the league with 1,598 yards and tied for the lead with 12 rushing scores, which means theres a huge void to be filled in the backfield for the club. A couple of newcomers, Keith Toston and Anthony Allen will be tasked with producing on the ground moving forward. Saskatchewan has to be pleased with the fact that they owned the toughest scoring defense in the CFL a year ago, allowing only 22.1 ppg, but that wont be easy to duplicate after losing Alex Hall. The defensive lineman placed second in the league with 16 sacks, but like many successful CFL performers, he too has latched on with an NFL squad (the Carolina Panthers) for the time being. On other side, the Tiger-Cats were the opposite of Saskatchewan through the first month of last season, winning just a single game in five tries. But the group did finish strong with four wins in five opportunities before, putting up a 10-8 mark, before defeating Montreal and Toronto in the playoffs. Kent Austin, the head coach, general manager and vice president of football operations for Hamilton, does have a major issue to clear up this time around with respect to his quarterback. Last year he watched Henry Burris tear up defenses for a league-best 4,927 yards, but this time around he will have to find a leader in either Zach Collaros, Dan LeFevour or Jeremiah Masoli. Collaros has the most experience of the three after spending a couple of years with Toronto, but he is still a major work in progress. LeFevour finished with almost as many rushing yards (317) as passing (394) with the Cats last year while Masoli attempted a grand total of just two passes for the program in 2013. At least for this week, it doesnt help that receiver Andy Fantuz is on the injured list, because he was one of the top pass catchers in the game with 65 grabs for 896 yards. That leaves Bakari Grant as the primary focus down the field after he posted 69 receptions for 947 yards, but a mere two touchdowns a year ago. Running back C.J. Gable is capable of adding another dimension to the offense, having gained 782 yards and scored seven times on 130 carries in his first CFL campaign, but the squad will have to be careful not to run him into the ground too early. From a defensive perspective, there is plenty of work to be done for the Tiger-Cats after they finished with a minus-13 in the turnover department. The squad logged just 14 interceptions, second-fewest behind only a hapless Winnipeg group, which they turned into a league-low 142 return yards. Hamilton was also last in the CFL in sacks with just 35. Stretching back to 1961 and focusing only on games that took place during the regular season, Saskatchewan holds a slight advantage in the series with the Cats at 42-38-4. The Riders have taken four of the last five and a startling 17 of the last 20 matchups with Hamilton. Thibaut Courtois Jersey . Dempsey scored twice in a five-minute span early in the second half and set up Lamar Neagles first-half goal to help the Seattle Sounders beat the Colorado Rapids 4-1 on Saturday. Dempsey leads MLS with eight goals. He has at least a goal or an assist in each of Seattles last six games. It is the second time in his career that Dempsey has had a six-game scoring streak in MLS, having done it previously in 2005 while with the New England Revolution. "The year I scored 23 with Fulham, I was on a pretty good run there, but it feels good," Dempsey said. "Were in a good rhythm as a team, we have a good locker room, and it think that shows on the field in our play." After Dempsey joined the Sounders last August, expectations for him and the team soared. But in nine games, he scored only one goal, and Seattles late-season swoon ended with another early playoff exit. Now, the Sounders have won three straight to improve to 5-2-1, thanks in large part to Dempsey. "When I first came, I felt like there werent too many games where I could look back and say, You know what? I had a lot of chances, I should have scored," Dempsey said. "I feel like in games now, Im getting good looks and looks that are allowing me to put the ball into the back of the net. I have to compliment my teammates on that. I feel like were playing better right now than we were toward the end of last season." Added Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, "I dont know what the records are for so many goals in so many games, but he might be setting some of those." Obafemi Martins added a 75th-minute goal for Seattle. Air Jordan 1 Scontate Uomo. Dillon Serna scored in the 62nd minute for the Rapids (3-2-2). Dempsey and Martins (who tallied his third) have accounted for 11 of the Sounders 17 goals. "Whether it six against six or eight against eight in practice, we try to put them on the same team where they look for each other and find each other," Schmid said, "and you see it showing now in games." Neagles blast 2 yards in front of a wide-open net gave the Sounders a 1-0 lead 15 seconds into the only minute of first-half stoppage time, and was his third goal of the year. Dempsey made it 2-0 at the outset of the 47th minute, running onto a loose ball at the top of 6-yard box that Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin had slapped away, but couldnt latch onto. Early in the 52nd minute, Chad Marshall headed Gonzalo Pinedas corner kick toward Dempsey, and Dempsey headed it in just over Irwins reach. Neagle assisted on the goal by Martins, which was his third goal of the season. Colorado came in with back-to-back shutouts and had allowed just five goals all season until yielding the four on Saturday. The Sounders outshot the Rapids, 20-10. "The two guys up top (Dempsey and Martins) really made a difference," Rapids coach Pablo Mastoeni said. "Dempsey caused us a bit of grief. And again, if youre not good with the ball, youre going to end up defending. Against a team like this, you definitely dont want to be defending deep in your half as we found ourselves for the majority of the game. "With the type of players they have, it just puts a lot of pressure on our defence and forced a lot of errors that led to the dismantling of the team," Mastoeni added. SEATTLE -- Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia refuted reports of a rift with general manager Jerry Dipoto over differences in opinion regarding moves by the organization. Wholesale Vans Shoes From China . A report from FOXSports.com Friday stated that the Angels are expected to replace either Scioscia or Dipoto because of continuing "philosophical differences" between the two men. Scioscia claimed Saturday such a rift doesnt exist. "Theres no philosophical differences," Scioscia said. "Jerry and I are certainly, as far as our baseball philopsophies, in line." Scioscia said the only decision hes publicly had a problem with was the firing of hitting coach Mickey Hatcher in May 2012. Beyond that, Scioscia said the rest is just normal disagreements regarding player evaluations that are common in any relationship between a manager and GM. "Youre not going to agree on everything. Thats healthy," Scioscia said. "You have to have conversation. Youve got to throw it on the table and just see if it has merit, talk about it, peel the paint off of it and I feel thats happening." Scioscia believes both sides have moved on from the decision to let Hatcher go and he still believes his relationship with Dipoto is sustainable. KREFELD, Germany -- Sam Soliman of Australia won the IBF middleweight title Saturday with a unanimous decision over Felix Sturm of Germany. Meritan Shabani Jersey . Soliman was the more active fighter throughout the bout and kept coming at the champion throughout the 12 rounds. Sturm may have landed the bigger punches but there were too few of them. Soliman won with a big margin on all three cards. One judge had him the winner with a score of 117-111, the other two scored it 118-110. The Australian also won a decision against Sturm in February 2013 but the fight was later ruled a no contest, when Soliman tested positive for a banned stimulant. He was banned for nine months. Joshua Kimmich Jersey . - Novak Djokovic beat John Isner 7-5, 6-7 (2), 6-1 on Saturday to reach the final of the BNP Paribas Open, where hell resume his longtime rivalry with Roger Federer. James Rodriguez Jersey .com) - Lloyd Sam struck in stoppage time on Wednesday as Red Bull New York hung on for a crucial 1-0 win over Atlantic Cup rivals D. http://www.fcmunichpro.com/Kids-Thiago-Alcantara-Jersey/ . -- LaMarcus Aldridge returned to the Trail Blazers lineup, happy to know that things didnt go awry without him.NEW YORK -- Josh Cribbs is getting a chance to continue his career and give the New York Jets a boost on special teams and at wide receiver. The three-time Pro Bowl selection was cut by Oakland in the preseason after having off-season surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. The Jets had shown interest in Cribbs during the last several months, working him out twice before signing him Tuesday. Cribbs, 30, is tied with New Englands Leon Washington for the most kickoff-return touchdowns in NFL history with eight, and has returned three punts for scores. He spent his first eight NFL seasons with Cleveland. New York also signed wide receiver Greg Salas from Philadelphias practice squad, and placed wide receiver Clyde Gates and running back Mike Goodson on season-ending injured reserve. The Jets also signed former Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet to the practice squad. Cribbs could help offset the losses of both Gates and Goodson. He has 107 career receptions for 1,161 yards and seven touchdowns, and has experience running the wildcat formation -- one of Goodsons roles with the Jets -- with 753 yards rushing and two scores. The versatile Cribbs is also 4 of 12 passing in his career. The signing of Cribbs is a low-risk, high-reward move -- especially if he can regain the form that made him one of the leagues most dangerous players who could score from any spot on the field. Gates injured his left shoulder Sunday in the Jets loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, butt had expressed optimism Monday that he would be able to play this Sunday against New England. Arjen Robben Jersey. He hadnt yet received the result from an MRI exam, though, and it apparently revealed the injury to be more serious than first thought. Gates finished with 12 catches for 122 yards this season, and averaged 23.2 yards as the Jets primary kick returner. Goodson, a potential replacement for Gates on kickoffs, was also lost for the season Sunday when he tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee. He was hurt while trying to make a tackle on Lawrence Timmons game-sealing interception of Geno Smith in the fourth quarter. New Yorks offence was already without top receiver Santonio Holmes, who is nursing a hamstring injury, and tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., who was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the leagues policy on performance-enhancing drugs. With the losses of Gates and Goodson for the season, the Jets were seriously short-handed on offence. Salas was a fourth-round pick of St. Louis out of Hawaii in 2011, and had 27 catches for 264 yards as a rookie. He was traded to New England before last season, but was later claimed off waivers by Philadelphia. Salas had yet to play this season for the Eagles. Maysonet went undrafted after running for 1,964 yards and 21 touchdowns during his senior season. He was signed in April by Philadelphia, and also spent time with Cleveland, Indianapolis and San Diego this season. IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed defensive end Anthony Spencer to a one-year deal worth up to $3. Mike Williams Jersey .5 million after he missed all but one game last season with a knee injury. Its the third straight one-year deal for Spencer after the Cowboys put the franchise tag on him in 2012 and 2013. The 30-year-old Spencer hurt his left knee during the off-season last year and aggravated the injury at the start of training camp. He missed the preseason and the opener before playing in Week 2, and then had a second operation in as many months and was out the rest of the season. Spencer moved from linebacker to end last year when the Cowboys switched to the 4-3 defence. The contract was announced on Saturday. Mike Pouncey Jersey . "I knew it was gone. CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks got a boost Friday when forward Marian Hossa practiced with the team for the first time in two weeks. Hossa participated in Chicagos morning skate before its game against the Nashville Predators. He has been shelved by an upper-body injury since the first period of the Blackhawks 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh at Soldier Field on March 1. He won his first major at the 2010 PGA Championship. He reached No. 1 in the world six months later. And then he realized his game would not be good enough to stay there. Kaymer wasnt much different from Tiger Woods, who overhauled his swing not long after a record-setting performance in the 1997 Masters. Kaymer was concerned about being a one-dimensional player — his primary shot was a fade — especially if he wanted to contend at Augusta National and other majors. He just didnt realize it would take this long. Halfway through his victory at The Players Championship, he thought back to the time he put in on his game. "All that work, all the hours," Kaymer said. "When you are standing on the range for six, seven hours, hitting the same shot, the same drill, you feel like it should be enough. You just dont want to be there at one stage because its so much. And its a little boring as well. But you know long term, it will become something good." It paid off in a big way last week at The Players, the next best thing to a major. The 29-year-old German tied the course record with a 63 on Thursday and was never behind after any round the rest of the way. His biggest challenge Sunday was when he had to return from a 90-minute storm delay and finish four holes in which he had everything to lose. Even with a double bogey that cut his lead to one shot, he didnt feel as if the tournament were slipping away. About the only thing that annoyed him was that "soft egg" moment to the left the green on the par-5 16th. Kaymer had spoken all week about being confident enough in his swing to stop thinking about the mechanics and to start playing by feel. He talked about hitting the right shot — the brave shot — not the easy one. He kept using the word, "wimp," until he jokingly was asked the German word for it. "Weiches ei," he replied in his native language. And then he offered that polite smile and added the English translation. "Its soft egg." Instead of chipping on the 16th, Kaymer decided to use a putter. He didnt hit it nearly hard enough, so instead of having a ggood chance at birdie, he had to two-putt from over 30 feet just to make par and keep his one-shot lead. Keke Coutee Texans Jersey. He wound up with one of the craziest pars ever on the island green at the par-3 17th, which ended with a 30-foot putt that broke some 8 feet to the right. And he collected the crystal trophy, along with the $1.8 million check from the richest purse on the PGA Tour. But that wimpy decision on the 16th gnawed at him even in victory. He wants perfection. "Its not the right thing to putt it. Its a soft egg," he said. "The swing is all good. Im happy the way that it works out and the way I go. Everything is fine, and Im really happy about this. But those things ... on 16, I was not true to myself, and thats painful. It really is. Because its just not right. "You can think, I won the golf tournament. I should be happy," he said. "And Im very, very happy about this. But those are things I would like to improve for the future." His future again looks bright. Kaymer now has won 14 times around the world. Even as he was retooling his swing with longtime coach Gunter Kessler, he managed to win a World Golf Championship in Shanghai by closing with a 63. Having barely made a Ryder Cup team in 2012 when Europe would have been better off without him because of his form, Kaymer still had enough left to beat Steve Stricker in the match that assured Europe would keep the cup. And he won at the end of last year in South Africa. But it means more to have beaten one of the strongest fields in golf, and to have conquered a course on the TPC Sawgrass that punishes the slightest mistake. Kaymer never really flinched all week. He put his name out front and stayed there. Darren Clarke noticed it in the second round. Kaymer didnt hit it his best that day, but he scored. Thats the golf Clarke remembered. "Hes a proper golfer this one," Clarke said. "Hes a finely tuned engineer." Perhaps he is ready to take his place among the best in the game. The major season is just getting started. "Now its important that you dont stop," he said. "Its very easy to just be happy now, relax and let things happen. But now its a time we have to work even harder." Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork. Scarpe Puma Scontate .com) - The Detroit Red Wings placed Jimmy Howard on injured reserve Sunday, one day after the goaltender left the ice on a stretcher. Late in the first period of Saturdays game against the Capitals, Howard left the puck behind the net for his defense to play. Instead, Capitals forward Troy Brouwer got the puck and quickly scored on a wraparound as Howard scrambled to get back into position. Howard hurt his groin while awkwardly extending his left leg trying to cover the post. As a precaution, he was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Petr Mrazek replaced Howard in goal and gave up two goals in a 3-1 loss. Prior to the game, Howard was named to the All-Star Game. He has compiled a 16-7-7 record with a 2.11 GAA and .920 save percentage this season. The Red Wings recalled goaltender Tom McCollum from Grand Rapids to fill Howards spot on the roster. McCollum has appeared in his one NHL game in his career, and it came in relief back on Mar. 30, 2011. Puma Scontate Italia . PETERSBURG, Fla. Puma Scarpe Sito Ufficiale . His absence against the Celtics comes a day after he scored 43 points in the Heats 100-96 win at Cleveland. http://www.pumascontate.it/ .C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes have activated defenceman Joni Pitkanen from injured reserve.PHOENIX -- Trevor Cahill pitched seven effective innings to win for the first time in nearly four months. Normally, it would have been the story of the night. Instead, it became a side note to Arizonas hitting display and Colorados side show. David Peralta hit a grand slam and Arizona tied a team record with eight hits in a nine-run eighth inning, turning what had been a close game into a 14-4 laugher over the bumbling Colorado Rockies on Saturday night. "Hitting is contagious," Arizonas Cliff Pennington said. "Its just one of those where guys get a couple of hits, you feel good and things start to roll." It just took a little while to get there. Cahill (2-8) did his job, overcoming a shaky defensive first inning by the Diamondbacks to win for the first time since April 23. Jorge De La Rosa (11-8) settled down after giving up a three-run homer to Mark Trumbo in the third inning and Nolan Arenado, who had three RBIs, pulled Colorado within a run on a solo homer in the eighth. By the time the bottom half was over, the Diamondbacks bats had exploded and the Rockies had imploded. The Rockies had two errors, a wild pitch and a passed ball in the inning. They also walked in a run. The Diamondbacks fed off their mistakes and each other, lashing balls all over Chase Field. Arizona had 15 hits, including seven for extra bases. Trumbo finished with four RBIs. Alfredo Marte added a solo homer. Pennington had three hits and scored four runs. Peralta, who had a run-scoring double in the first inning, put a big punctuation mark on the inning, sending his first career grand slam over the pool in right-centre, leaving even the home fans a bit stunned. When Rockies manager Walt Weiss called a team meeting before the game, this probably wasnt the kind of response he was expecting. "I didnt say abracadabra or anything," said Weiss, whose team has lost eight of nine. "I didnt say any magic words. I just tried to give them some perspective on where we are at." After shaky start to the season, Cahill had pitched well lately, but Saturdays game got off to an ominous start. Colorado scored a run in the first inning when Marte misplayed Arenados double in the left corner and CCahill dropped a throw from Trumbo at first to allow another run to come across. Puma Scarpe In Offerta. Cahill was sharp after that, allowing three runs on four hits and struck out seven for his first win as a starter since last Sept. 21 at Colorado. "Anytime if Im pitching and the team wins, its a good day," Cahill said. "It felt good." The Rockies pulled within a run on Arenados homer in the eighth inning, but his throw to home on Trumbos chopper in the bottom half sailed high for an error, allowing two runs to score. Arizona poured it on from there, compounding Colorados mistakes by knocking the ball around the park. HOT PERALTA Peralta was called up on June 1 and immediately started hitting. He hasnt really stopped. The rookie has set a club record with 67 hits through his first 56 games and has had at least two hits 25 times. He also became the first Diamondbacks rookie with at least five RBIs in a game since Mark Reynolds on Aug. 30, 2007 at San Diego. DE LA ROSAS START De La Rosa had a couple of shaky moments early, giving up Peraltas run-scoring double in the first inning and Trumbos homer in the third. The left-hander settled in after that, giving up four runs on six hits in six innings. "He always goes out and puts us in positions to win games and that is what I thought he did tonight," Weiss said. BIG INNING The Diamondbacks had eight hits in an inning eight other times, most recently on May 28 in the first against San Diego. The nine runs tied for second-most in team history behind a 13-run inning against Pittsburgh in 2010. TRAINING ROOM Rockies: RF Michael Cuddyer, out since fracturing his shoulder on June 5, went 1 for 3 with an RBI for rookie-level Grand Junction in his latest rehab game. He is 6 for 10 with three doubles and four RBIs in three rehab games. Diamondbacks: SS Chris Owings tested his bruised shoulder with 30 swings in the batting cage and is hoping to progress to a simulated game. UP NEXT Rockies: Franklin Morales, who will start the series final on Sunday, has held left-handers to a .232 average. Diamondbacks: LHP Wade Miley had his worst start of the season his last time out, allowing 10 runs in 4 2-3 innings against Kansas City on Aug. 5. Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork. Air Jordan 1 Scontate Uomo .com) - Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver made 3-pointers to key a tiebreaking 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that led the Atlanta Hawks over the Memphis Grizzlies 96-86 on Wednesday in a clash of conference powers. Teague scored 25 points to pace Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta, including five during a 12-2 burst over the last three minutes of the game. Korver, Paul Millsap, Al Horford, and Pero Antic all scored at least 11 points as the Hawks earned a sixth straight win. They are 20-2 since late November. Mike Conley had 17 points and Marc Gasol scored 16 to lead the Grizzlies, who are battling for first place in the Southwest Division. It was a little sloppy with 39 turnovers between the teams, said Grizzlies coach David Joerger, whose team had 21 of the turnovers, leading to 19 Atlanta points. LOUIS - Five St. Louis Rams players entered the football field with their hands raised. A day later, people walked out of work or school showing the same gesture of solidarity with Ferguson protesters. The pose has come to symbolize a movement, even though witnesses offered conflicting accounts of whether 18-year-old Michael Brown had his hands up in surrender when he was killed by Ferguson officer Darren Wilson in August. The power of the symbol was evident again Monday. Protesters across the country walked off the job or away from class in support of the Ferguson protesters. Walkouts took place in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and elsewhere. At the University of Missouri-St. Louis, not far from Ferguson, sophomore Amber Whitaker was among about 30 students who chanted Hands up. Dont shoot!Whitaker, who is white, said the symbolism is what matters, not whether Brown literally had his hands in the air. There are black men and women who are shot with their hands up, Whitaker said. There are black men and women who are shot unarmed. It may not apply exactly to Mike Brown, but it still happens. The exact circumstances surrounding Browns death will forever be in dispute. Wilson, who is white, shot and killed Brown, who was black and unarmed, on Aug. 9. A grand jurys decision last week not to indict Wilson set off renewed protests, some of which turned violent.Wilson told the grand jury that he shot Brown in self-defence. But several witnesses said Brown had his hands up in surrender. Within hours, Hands Up. Dont Shoot! became the rallying cry for protesters.Witness accounts contained in thousands of pages of grand jury documents reviewed by The Associated Press showed many variations about whether Browns hands were actually raised — and if so, how high. Some people were offended by the hands-up gesture. The St. Louis Police Officers Association said the display by Rams players Tavon Austin, Kenny Britt, Stedman Bailey, Jared Cook and Chris Givens was tasteless, offensive and inflammatory. The group, joined by the St. Louis County Police Association, met with Rams leaders Monday. Rams coach Jeff Fisher said during a news conference Monday that neither the team nor the NFL will discipline the five players for the gesture.Fisher said it was his players choice to exercise their free speech and that he would not comment further on their actions. He did say he plans to talk with the players, who are all black, but those conversations will remain confidential. The NFL issued a one-sentence statement from spokesman Brian McCarthy: We respect and understand the concerns of all individuals who have expressed views on this tragic situation. In Springfield, Missouri, Rodney Shetler, watched the players action from his home. He said the move was in pretty pooor taste and was divisive and disrespectful to law enforcement. Scarpe Air Jordan 1 Outlet. Its a gesture proven by the grand jury not to be appropriate or accurate, said Shetler, the 44-year-old owner of a copying and printing business.A similar episode unfolded more than four decades ago at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.John Carlos, the American 200-meter bronze medallist , set off a political firestorm on the medal stand when he and teammate Tommie Smith gave the black power salute. He stood by the Rams players. If they choose to come out and raise their hands in support of whatever their emotions are, they have the right to do that, Carlos told The Associated Press. I dont think the whole story has been told about the Michael Brown tragedy, and the pros and cons on both sides. They can just go by their emotions. I dont think anyone got injured or shot by expressing emotions. The White House on Monday announced the conclusion of a three-month review of the Ferguson situation. President Barack Obama wants more officers to wear cameras to promote trust, but he is not seeking to reduce federal programs that provide the type of military-style equipment used to dispel the unrest in Ferguson and elsewhere.Browns family wants to see every police officer working the streets wearing a body camera. Also Monday, the Ferguson Commission appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon met for the first time. The 16-person panel will study the underlying social and economic conditions — from failing schools to high unemployment— that have gained attention since Browns death.About 80 residents attended the groups first session, a five-hour meeting devoted primarily to organizational issues. As the meeting lingered, several audience members ran out of patience, angrily imploring commission members to discuss practical solutions, not murky goals and vision statements.People have waited for three months stewing in anxiety and pain, activist Charles Wade told the panel. The panel includes a Ferguson construction-supply company owner, two pastors, a university professor, a community activist and a St. Louis police detective who is also president of the state chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police. Two of the 16 members were in Washington meeting with Obama.Nixon dropped plans Monday for a special legislative session to approve additional spending for the states public-safety response to protesters in the St. Louis area. The governor reversed course after lawmakers said he could tap into an existing budget for the State Emergency Management Agency to cover the costs of the National Guard and Missouri State Highway Patrol.___Contributors include Alan Scher Zagier in Ferguson, David A. With runners on first and third and one out, McCutchen hit a towering popup behind home plate. Lucroy made the catch and Travis Snider attempted to tag up from first, but Lucroy alertly threw to shortstop Jean Segura covering the bag. As Snider retreated toward first, Starling Marte broke for home but was tagged out by Henderson (1-0) covering the plate to end the inning. "My focus was just to get my glove out in front of the plate. I actually really didnt know where I was positioned on the plate," Henderson said. "Im glad I covered home in the first place. Some pitchers just hang out by the mound." After making the tag and recording an extremely rare 2-6-1 double play, Henderson spiked the ball to the ground as he left the field. "It was in the moment and McCutchen is always a tough out for me," Henderson said. Lucroy said he broke to cover the plate but backed off when he saw Henderson was already there. "Its a play that we have in place that we work on all spring that won us a ball game last year. We tag at first, draw the throw to second and then send the runner from third. Marte breaks on the throw, they had to make a baseball play. We tried to steal a run," Hurdle said. Carlos Gomez hit a leadoff homer and Lucroy drove in the tiebreaking run with an eighth-inning single.
